Emma just didn't get why they didn't understand. To them, in many ways, it might have been like no time had passed. But that wasn't reality. In reality, twelve whole years had passed. Emma's whole life. Yet they were all acting like Emma was just supposed to accept that they were in her life now. She was just expected to play happy families. Well no. No, this wasn't normality to her. Normal for Emma was skating by unnoticed. Having people poke their noses into every bit of her life felt suffocating. So Emma found herself sneaking off at night with some of the sophomores from the high school. She didn't care what her parents thought about it. It was none of their damn business. Unfortunately for Emma, she had been followed by her older twin siblings: Caleb and Marali. They heard her sneaking out her window. Now they saw her messing around with the older kids. They saw the glass bottle being passed around and decided they had to step in. Emma freaked out as her big brother grabbed her wrist.

"Get off me you freak!" She yelled, trying to claw him off. The high school kids sniggered.

"You're one of the middle school kids, ain't you?" One of the boys from the high school slurred.

"Yeah, so is she. That's kind of the problem." Caleb snapped back. The high schoolers all laughed at how bold he sounded.

"You can't tell me what to do." Emma hissed. "You're barely a year older than me."

"Yet, still older." Marali said, taking her other hand and helping Caleb drag her away. "Move."

It took Caleb and Marali nearly half an hour to drag Emma, kicking and screaming, back to their home. By the time they got there, the noise had brought their parents to the front door.

"What is going on here?" Snow asked, alarmed. "We thought you were all in bed!"

"Emma snuck out. We followed her." Caleb grunted as Charming took over control of the furious Emma. "She was hanging around with some of the sophomores. They were drinking." Caleb explained.

"Emma, is this true?" Snow asked her. Emma had now reached self-destruct level.

"What do you care who I'm with and what we're doing?" Emma screamed, seeing red. "Nobody has ever cared before, and none of you did for the first twelve years. Why start now?! I'm not a baby! You don't get to tell me what I can and can't do! You all missed that chance! It's never coming back!" Now the true emotions were getting out. Emma burst into tears, no longer fighting against her father's hold. Snow and Charming looked at each other, alarmed.

"Caleb, Marali, thank you for bringing her home. Up to your beds now please." Snow said quietly. Caleb and Marali quietly slipped up the stairs. They looked back at the mess Emma was in. Was she going to be ok?

Snow and Charming waited until Emma had calmed down and got the tears out her system. They didn't have words for her that night. It wasn't what Emma needed, anyway. Instead, they held her. They knew this all such a massive change for her. They would take it one step at a time. Slowly, they would keep moving until Emma knew that she was not alone.
