Too comfortable
A Twitter user asked for a oneshot of- first June Tunes request! Out of your list, I chose the song "Safer" by Krysta Rodriguez. Although all excellent choices! Set during season 2 time.
When you've felt so alone since
The moment of your birth.
And you're struggled to find
Your own true sense of worth.
When it seems there is no one
Across this whole earth
To depend upon, you carry on
Just like you always do
'Cause it's safer to rely on you.
Oh, it's safer to rely on you.
Sometimes to Emma, it felt like she must be speaking a whole different language than her parents. It had all started when she was little. It felt safer to be oblivious to other people, and to make sure other people were oblivious to her. Now suddenly, she had two people who practically demanded she shared her problems with them. Now she didn't know how to share them. Her walls to high for her to climb over, and so strong Emma didn't think they could be broken down.
She knew her parents didn't exactly understand her, or her point of view. She knew they didn't understand why she kept things to herself. Emma just didn't know how to share things. Didn't they get that. Sharing things meant making herself vulnerable. All her life being vulnerable had been the worst thing Emma could ever have been. Emma hadn't had someone to meet her needs since she was three years old. As soon as she entered a group home for the first time and her tears dried up, Emma promised herself that she would be a big girl and look after herself, look out for number one. Emma desperately wanted to be able to burst through her walls and reach out to them. She just didn't think it was possible, not right now, anyway. It was comfortable within her walls. It was safe.
