A bittersweet life
TV show Junkie asked for a oneshot of something based on "Here's to us", the Glee version.
Just a small request? I'm not asking for pleases and thank yous, just please don't write your request like your demanding it from me.
Stuck it out this far together
Put our dreams through the shredder
Let's toast 'cause things got better
And everything could change like that
And all these years go by so fast
But nothing lasts forever.
There life had not been as easy and dreamlike as a couple that shared true love deserved. It seemed like every time Snow and Charming let their hopes get up, that they might get to settle down and be allowed to enjoy their lives, to enjoy each other. But up until now, each time they'd been proven wrong.
Right from the start, way before the dark curse, they felt like their path as lovers was cursed. They seemed forever destined to lose each other. Yes, they might always find each other, but why couldn't they just stay together? Then they had a baby, who would also be affected by their family's apparent curse. Their little girl would be torn from them within minutes of her birth and they would not see her for nearly three decades. Three decades that would pass right before their eyes. Then, before they knew it, their baby girl was a twenty eight year old woman standing before them, the curse finally broken. It was a bittersweet moment for the parents. Yet even with everything they went through, Snow White and Prince Charming stuck though it all together. No matter what was thrown at them, they knew they would face it together.
Every so often, their faith and hope was rewarded by a genuine moment of pure happiness. Such as the birth of their son (however short-lived that was due to Zelena).
Snow and Charming's secret to making it through such torments? The same advice Charming shared with his daughter once: enjoying the moment. You cannot live waiting for the next disaster, you have to enjoy what is in front of you there and then. After all "life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain". And dance the Charmings did.
