Holding her to fix her
captainswan2000 asked for a oneshot of Emma and Charming having a massive fight, but when Emma breaks down he just hugs her. It is to be based around the song "Arms" by Christina Perri.
Trigger warning for alluding to sexual abuse.
I hope that you see right through my walls
I hope that you catch me, 'cause I'm already falling
I'll never let a love get so close
You put your arms around me and I'm home.
"Emma this is serious!" Charming yelled. He couldn't help but lose his temper a little. Why wasn't this getting through to her?!
"It is not as bad as you're making it out to be! You're clearly overreacting!" Emma screamed back.
"Oh is that right?" Charming asked her. "Well if that's the case, why don't I just call your mom and let her in on everything." He said, pulling his phone out his pocket. Emma's eyes narrowed.
"You wouldn't dare." She hissed. Charming went to his contacts.
"Try me." He warned her. "Now, are you going to stop acting out and discuss this rationally like an adult, or do I have to follow through with this?" Charming asked her.
"I'm not the one being irrational!" Emma screamed. Charming stood his ground. Emma clearly had to let this out her system. "It's none of your damn business what leads I choose to chase up when you're off duty. I caught the guy. It's done. I don't see why you feel everybody and their auntie needs to know about it." Emma hissed.
"I hardly think your mom counts as everyone, but there we are." Charming responded calmly. "Whether I was off duty or not, we had agreed beforehand that I would deal with Serrano for obvious reasons. Dude's messed up Emma, you know that. Going after him alone was dangerous and could have had serious ramifications.
"No, leaving a monster like that on the street, that's what could have serious ramifications. He attacked both those women. I don't give a damn about waiting for more proof. You know it, I know it, he knows it. I will not have those women be scared to leave their own homes in fear of it happening again. In fear of nobody believing their side. I won't let it happen to them. It's not a situation anyone should be in." Charming could see that Emma was shaking. He felt like his stomach had turned to ice. He almost didn't want to ask his next question, but he knew that he had to.
"Emma." He croaked. "Did you want him off the street so badly because something similar happened to you in the past, but you weren't believed?" Emma felt like someone had swung a rock at her. How had he worked it out? She couldn't help the tears welling up. She just managed to give him a shaky nod before bursting into tears, it all becoming too much. She hadn't thought about that incident in years. Charming's anger about what Emma done melted away. He strode over and pulled her into his arms, holding her close as she wept. He shed a few tears himself above her head. Charming never wanted to have to let Emma go again. Not after hearing that. He couldn't hold her back then. He couldn't save her. But he could now. He would hold his baby girl until all her broken pieces began to fit back together again.
