Needing him

blpenn asked for a oneshot of something for Charming and Emma based on "You'll always be my baby" by Sara Evans.

Whatever road you may be on
Know you're never too far gone
My love is there wherever you may be
Just remember that you'll always be my baby

Emma had messed up. Badly. How could she have been stupid enough to let him bed her? Now here she was, seventeen years old and with child. She hadn't waited to see her parents' reactions. She had fled the room and come straight up to her chambers. She already knew what they would be feeling. Complete and utter disappointment. Emma was their only child. She was to be the heir to the throne. Now she'd gotten herself pregnant when not only was she unwed, there was no proper suitor to be seen? She couldn't tell them who the father was. That would only make things worse. Emma was stupid enough to think he'd stick by her. But no. As soon as she told him they were expecting, he made it very clear he wanted nothing to do with Emma or their baby. What was worse, he insinuated that it might not even be his at all.

When Emma heard someone approaching her bedroom, she buried her face in a pillow. She felt too ashamed to show herself. She heard her bedroom door open, and the feeling of shame only intensified.

"Emma?"

It was her dad. Emma didn't look up. Charming came and sat on the edge of Emma's bed. "Sweetheart, look at me. Please." Charming asked her. Emma shook her head, clutching the pillow tightly. Charming sighed. He reached out and plucked the pillow from Emma's grip. "Sweetheart. Whatever happens now, I won't lie to you, is going to have its difficulties. However, it will all be ok. I promise." Emma hadn't been expecting that. She looked up, bleary eyed.

"How can you promise that?" She croaked. Charming smiled at her.

"Because I promised myself from the moment you were born that I would always love you. That doesn't change because of an unplanned pregnancy. Sure, it was a bit of a shock. But we'll deal with it. My love now extends to my grandchild." Charming winced. "Although that will take some getting used to." He admitted. Emma moved over and practically flung herself into her dad's arms, holding him tightly. Charming held her back equally as tight. Emma might have made some mistakes recently, but he was still her father. He would never stop loving her, certainly not when she needed him most of all.
