Like father like son

A guest asked for a oneshot of something for Charming and Neal based around the song "I've been watching you" by Rodney Adkins. Will contain season 6 finale spoilers!

We got cowboy boots and camo pants
Yeah, we're just alike, hey, ain't we dad?
I wanna do everything you do
So I've been watching you

"Wake up daddy, wake up!" Neal said excitedly, jumping on the bed and clambering on top of his still sleeping daddy. Charming's eyes opened. Neal grinned down at him. "Daddy, its morning time! That means we have to feed the chickens!" Charming smiled. Meanwhile, Snow groaned beside him.

"Do the chickens need fed quite this early in the morning, Neal?" She said sleepily. "It's only three am, sweetheart." Charming couldn't help but laugh at the way Neal pouted. He pulled Neal into his arms.

"I'm afraid your mama's right, buddy. Still a little early. Settle down for a bit, yeah? Then we'll go feed all the animals." Neal smiled, snuggling into his dad. Charming's heart swelled. People often referred to Neal as Charming's mini me. He loved nothing more than mucking around with the animals and his daddy. He loved wearing proper farmer clothes that looked just like his dad's. In fact, Neal often told his dad that when he grew up, he wanted to be just like him. It made Charming so proud to know that he was being a good dad to his son. He hoped Neal always felt that way about him.

A few hours later, and Neal got his wish. He would be out in the barn, spreading seeds for the chickens to peck at. He would then walk hand in hand with his daddy over to the goats to make sure they got fed too. Then the cows, and finally the horses. One day, Neal knew his daddy was going to teach him how to ride a horse all by himself. Neal couldn't wait for that day to come. His daddy was going to be so proud when he did it. That's all Neal ever wanted, to make his daddy proud. He was too young to realise yet that he was making his daddy proud every day, just by being himself.
