Qrow looked at his former classmate. "So, you're a mother now, Glynda." Glynda nodded as she wondered where he was going with this. "Is Nora taking your last name or did you choose to go with hers since you're a single parent?"
Glynda chuckled a bit and looked to her daughter who was wearing reading glasses while looking at a medical textbook since she wanted to learn more as they were taking a break after they finished watching Blade and that Lex said that Cinder and Emerald need time to rest for a little due to a ritual that she was doing to help them, yet she wouldn't say what it was for. Along with taking Penny to be upgraded, Coco was looking at the different fashions of Earth that Lex had in one of her home's closets as Velvet was also given limited access to Lex's armory.
Glynda looked at the former drunk. "While my name is still Glynda Goodwitch to some of our colleagues, I chose to take my daughter's last name."
Qrow tried out her name. "Glynda Valkyrie." He chuckled. "Not bad, has a nice ring to it." (1)
She chuckled. "Yes, I suppose it does." She saw that Blake was teaching the Schnee sisters different sheathing techniques while Pyrrha and Jaune were practicing to make sure that he wasn't getting rusty and Ren was helping Nora study. "So, which of the students do you think have the potential?"
"To teach or for combat?"
"Both."
Qrow held his chin and looked at the students still in the room. "Hmm, Blake definitely has a teacher aura while Weiss still has a lot to learn from both her team and Beacon. Pyrrha is more of an assistant or possibly the therapist from what Katana said that she did for her boyfriend. Jaune definitely has the makings of a teacher. Nora and Ren though…" He was actually stuck on where to put them. "Those two are definitely the wildcards of the bunch. Nora is able to remember her studies faster than anyone else I've known while Ren still has to come to terms with what happened at Kuroyuri."
Glynda nodded. "That sounds like the Qrow from back in our academy days." She sighed as she thought back to their days as classmates before looking at him. "Do...Do you...?"
"Do I regret us breaking up because of Oz's work and my old semblance?" She nodded before blushing lightly when he gently took her hand. "Everyday that I was out there, risking my life without knowing that all I looked for was for nothing. The only things on my mind were my nieces and Summer." She looked down dejectedly before blushing badly when he kissed her passionately, he broke the kiss and smiled softly at her. "And you, Glynda. When these viewings are over, do you wanna give it one more try?"
She smiled softly and pulled him into a loving kiss. "Without a doubt, my Dark Omen."
They didn't notice Nora throw a lien card to Blake, who caught it with ease. Blake smirked. "Never doubt a shipper." Ren sent a text to her that made her blush badly. "I-I'll tell her w-when I'm ready, Ren."
Ren smirked before kissing Nora's cheek. "Don't wait like we almost did, Blake." Nora smiled softly at her boyfriend's words, she adjusted her glasses before continuing to read her textbook.
Finally, after waiting for what seemed like hours, Lex emerged from a chamber with a soft smile. Everyone looked at her with Neo voicing their thoughts. "Is everything alright with them, Lex?"
Lex stepped out of the way as they heard a familiar voice coming from the chamber. "Saaal!" Winter and Blake quietly scooted away from Weiss. "Uuu!" Weiss's eyes widened as she realized she was about to be tackled and started to panic. "Tatiiiooons!" Sure enough, Weiss was tackled by a new and improved Penny Polendina. Penny smiled at Weiss. "Hello, Weiss!"
They all looked at Penny in surprise as she now looked like an actual teenager. Winter brought out her own rapier. "Penny, is that truly you?"
Penny stood up and saluted Winter with a smirk. "I'm ready to kick some ass, Specialist Winter." Winter dropped her sword in shock.
Lex chuckled as everyone's jaw dropped from hearing the innocent Penny actually swearing. "Yup, since she's now an actual teenager I managed to bypass the censorship protocol which means she can swear and will sometimes make suggestive comments." They looked at her like she was insane while she just shrugged. "Blame my wives, one is an engineer and the other is a fellow interrogator who enjoys herself a bit too much." She casually caught a kunai before throwing back. "Love you too, babe."
They heard groaning and saw Ruby helping Emerald and a younger looking Cinder walk, she was struggling to keep them both standing. "A-A little help would be nice." Blake immediately helped Emerald to a couch. "Thanks, Blake." Ruby helped Cinder to lay down beside Emerald.
Before long, Cinder and Emerald slowly sat up before groaning as fox ears and several tails slowly appeared on them, Cinder's being black with fire red tips while Emerald's were minty green with black tips. Cinder gave a half-hearted glare to Lex. "When you said that it would be draining, I thought it meant draining on our auras, mother."
Everyone's eyebrows, except for Penny, Ruby, Emerald, and Lex's, rose at that. "Mother?!"
Cinder and Emerald's ears folded back as they winced from how sensitive their hearing was now. Emerald whimpered. "N-Not so loud, please."
Lex hugged the newly changed kitsunes gently, giving them some of her magic to help their hearing adjust back to normal. "Better?" She smiled softly when they nodded before she gently kissed their foreheads.
Glynda stepped forward. "Lexious, why did Cinder call you 'mother' and why does she look younger?"
"That's because I did for them what you did for young Nora and made them Hanyous or half-demons, kitsunes to be precise. As for your second question, it was an unexpected side effect of the ritual I used on them." She gently hugged her daughters again before looking at everyone in the room. "Everyone, say hello to the newest members of the Skyguard clan and my eldest daughters, Emerald Skyguard and Cinder Skyguard."
Glynda looked skeptical at first before smirking at her fellow mother. "Well, I suppose this is one way to help them abandon Salem's path but I'm surprised it happened so quickly. You were only in there for a couple hours."
"Actually, we were in there for a few months since I needed help upgrading Penny to her new body and these two needed time to decide if they wanted me to be their mother. I'm so glad my tech girl likes watching anime because we would've need to be in there for a lot longer if she didn't. Now, I feel like I'm forgetting something." She snapped her fingers. "Oh, that's right!" She used her magic to bring over a book she took off of her shelf before they started watching Blade, she blew some dust off of it.
On the cover was a woman in red that looked to be wielding flames like Cinder did while there was an older woman's face behind her. Blake looked at the cover of the book. "'Dragon Age: The World of Thedas Volume 1'? What's Dragon Age?" Neo was over by another shelf before spotting a book that had 1 human, 3 humanoid figures and a robot of some kind. She brought it over to Lex and Blake saw the title of the book. "'The Art of the Mass Effect Universe'. What on Remnant is a Mass Effect?" (3)
Yang shrugged and looked at the books. "I don't know, Blake, but Dragon Age looks like it's a fantasy RPG while Mass Effect looks like a really sci-fi shooter."
Lex smirked. "You're almost correct, little dragon. They are actually both big RPG franchises back home and were made in my home country of Canada." She noticed that Velvet and Coco had returned from their little tours of Lex's home. "Ah, perfect. I think I know a good way to spend this break." She looked at the Schnee sisters and spoke telepathically to them. "I spoke with Katana and she agreed to help get the evidence needed to have Jacques arrested and reinstate Weiss as the SDC's heiress. She's getting the evidence needed while we're taking a break." The sisters smiled and nodded in gratitude.
Glynda looked at Lex. "And how will we be spending this break, Lexious?"
Lex chuckled. "Have a seat everyone as I teach you about the science of Mass Effect and the magic of Dragon Age." She put her hands on the books before they slowly glowed as the screen came back to life. "Welcome everyone." She smiled as the first video played as everyone sat down in their seats, with Blake sitting beside Emerald and Ruby sitting beside Cinder while Lexious was settled between her daughters. "To the worlds of BioWare."
(1) - This was actually something that Katana had asked me and Qrow's response was actually what I told her after she helped me decide Glynda's surname.
(2) - Yup, Penny is now in her upgraded V7 body and you knew that I had to do her greeting as it was perfect way to re-introduce our favourite wholesome Winter Maiden. Though she's not exactly wholesome thanks to Lex upgrading her body.
(3) - I actually have both of these books so it'll be a bit easier for me to give them lore and show them the different designs.
So this is something I've been thinking about lately with Katana having them learn about Monster Hunter. I love these two franchises, with the exception of Andromeda of course. But, unlike how Katana's avoiding them finding out that MH is a game series, Lex is letting them know that these are gaming worlds straight from the get go. Will this be a good thing or will I be burnt out? Honestly, I'm just doing this to avoid burnout from transcribing Blade into a sort of novelisation while also working on something else at the same time.
Let me know if there's anything from Dragon Age or Mass Effect you want them to learn about. I won't be limiting them to just the lore as they can even learn about how the games all came to be if you guys want.
