A couple of months later
We have been traveling for a while. We went to Montana first and discovered that there were vampires. There was a hunter that we met at the bar and Dean thought that he was a cool guy but Sam and I noticed that there was something strange about him, which Ellen warned us about. It turns out later that he was hunting innocent vampires so we had to stop him.
Now we are in Greensville, Illinois; where their mom were buried. Sam insisted to Dean that we needed to visit their Mom's grave. Dean was kind of hesitant about it but finally gave in and now here we are.
I walked with Sam to the graveyard while Dean stayed back. Sam bent down and took out his knife, digging the ground with it. I scanned their mother's gravestone.
"Mary Winchester
1954-1983
In loving memory"
Sam finishes digging and pulls out the dog tags out of his pocket. He sighs sadly. I recognized them. They were John's.
"I think, um, I think Dad would have wanted you to have these." He says, putting the dog tags in the hole and buries it with his hand. "I love you, Mom."
I squeezed his shoulder in comfort and he covered my hand with his. I bent down next to him.
"I wish I could have known your mom." I said softly and Sam puts his arm around my shoulder.
"I think that Mom would have liked you." Sam says, smiling gently. I smiled back.
Sam stood up.
I looked back and observed Dean. Dean was standing by another gravestone, staring at it.
I couldn't understand why Dean didn't want to come at first… maybe he's afraid or he just doesn't want to deal with it.
I sighed and looked back at Mary's gravestone.
"It's nice to meet you, Mary. I wish I could have met you." I whisper gently and touched the gravestone.
Dean sees a dying tree, and stops, frowning. He walks over to it and notices a perfect circle of dead grass surrounding a gravestone. He crouches down, fingering dead flowers.
"Hey guys… you need to see this." Dean calls out and we walked over to Dean. I noticed the dead plants and the dead tree then the circle of dead grass.
"What the hell?" I murmured, looking around.
A moment later.
Dean took spoke to a man in a suit. He takes the card from him, and then walks over to us.
"Angela Mason. She was a student at the local college; funeral was three days ago." Dean said, walking with us.
"And?" Sam says, looking at Dean.
"And? You saw her grave. Everything dead around it, in a perfect circle? You don't think that's a little weird?"
I nodded while looking back at Angela's grave.
"Maybe the groundskeeper went a little agro with the pesticide," Sam suggested to Dean and Dean shook his head.
"No, I asked him. No pesticide, no chemicals. Nobody can explain it."
"Okay, so what are you thinking?"
"I don't know. Unholy ground, maybe?" Dean says and we stopped walking.
"Un—" Sam chuckles then looked back at the girl's grave stone.
"What? If something evil happened there, it could easily poison the ground. Remember the, the farm outside of Cedar Rapids?" Dean says, looking at Sam.
"Yeah, b-" Sam was about to disagree but Dean continued. "Could be the sign of a demonic presence. Or the, the Angela girl's spirit, if it's powerful enough."
Sam nods, turning away.
"Well, don't get too excited, you might pull something." Dean says as Sam walks away. I stood behind, thinking about Dean's suggestion.
I walked to the girl's gravestone and bent down, looking at the dead flowers. I touched them and they fell apart at the touch of my fingers.
"Huh…" I murmured to myself.
I listened them in the background as I looked around her grave.
"It's just… stumbling onto a hunt? Here, of all places?" Sam seems concerned about Dean.
"So?"
"So? Are you sure this is about a hunt, and not about something else?" Sam suggests and Dean wasn't getting his point.
"What else would it be about?"
"You know, just forget it." Sam says in frustration.
"You believe what you want, Sam, but I let you drag my ass out here, the least we could do is check this out."
"Yeah. Fine." Sam says, angry at Dean.
"Girl's dad works in town; he's a professor at the school." Dean explains then saw Emma at the girl's grave.
"Emma, let's go!" He calls out and she looked back at them.
"I'll be there in a second!" I call out then looked back at Angela's gravestone. I gazed at it for a second then I touched it.
Suddenly, there was a vision that came so fast that I gasped violently.
I saw Angela driving and she was crying. She was arguing with someone on the phone.
She looked so angry and then puts her cell phone down and she screams as she saw something in her way. She turned her car violently that it flipped over a couple of times.
She was dead the next second. I moved my hand quickly from her grave and gasped out loud, clutching my head in pain.
I heard them running to me. "Emma! What happened?" Sam asks bending down next to me. I felt Dean's hand on my back.
I looked up and the vision was gone. I looked at them, panting. I could feel myself shaking. "You guys… this is more serious than we thought."
They looked at each other.
We arrived at Angela's school and the boys wanted to meet the father so I came with them.
Dean and Sam knock on the door of Dr. Mason's office while I stood behind them. I was rubbing my sore hand that had touched the gravestone earlier. This was the first time I touched something and a vision came. It scared the crap out of me. The boys wanted to talk about what happened but I didn't want to so they left the subject alone.
The door opens, revealing an older gentleman.
"Dr. Mason?" Dean asked.
"Yes?" Dr Mason says, looking at us.
"I'm Sam, this is Dean and Emma. We were friends of Angela's, we… we wanted to offer our condolences."
Dr. Mason nodded at them. "Please, come in."
We enter; he closes the door behind us. After sitting down, he showed us a photo album. In the corner, Dean is looking through an old book.
I gazed at his daughter's picture and felt pity for the father.
"She was beautiful." Sam says, looking up from the picture.
"Yes, she was." Dr. Mason says with sadness.
"This is an unusual book." Dean says, holding the book up. The cover of the book has a carving of Greek letters and a triangular symbol.
"It's ancient Greek; I teach a course."
"So a car accident, that's, that's horrible." Dean says, putting the book down.
"Angie was only a mile away from home when, uh," Dr. Mason pauses in his grief.
"It's gotta be hard. Losing someone like that. Sometimes it's like they're still around. Almost like you can still sense their presence. You ever feel anything like that?"
Sam looks at Dean, concerned.
"I do, as a matter of fact." Dr. Mason agreed with Dean.
"That's perfectly normal, Dr. Mason. Especially with what you're going through." Sam says, still looking at Dean.
"You know, I still phone her. And the phone's ringing before I remember that, uh… Family's everything, you know? Angie was the most important thing in my life. And now I, I'm just lost without her."
I sighed in sadness for Dr. Mason. I knew exactly what he talked about. I went through with the same thing when my parents died. It took me a couple of months to remember that I couldn't call them anymore when I was scared or angry or sad.
"We're very sorry." Sam says, shaking his hand.
Wow, Emma had another vision but this time, it came to her when she touched the girl's grave. Scary huh? Please leave a review... it keeps me motivated! :)
