Two mothers- part 2

Cara asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch2692 "Two mothers" where the curse is broken and Emma has accepted Snowing as her parents. But both she and Snow are struggling over the parenting of Henry. Henry ends up calling David dad. Emma realises she's always going to just be a big sister figure to him rather than a mom. She talks with Snowing about it.

JRocks and PowerMan (since I'm now pretty sure you're the same person): I have already asked you to remember the gap rule, which (as I also told you) is explained on my pinned tweet. Next time you ignore this, I will simply delete the request completely and never mention it again. Since you've been sneaky and already had 2 requests at once, please pick one request you wish written next and ask for it after 6 batches of requests have been posted (since it'll be double for cheating).

Sorry everyone, things popped up this weekend so never got a chance to write :/

It was never going to be an easy situation. That's why the Evil Queen had allowed it to happen in the first place. Snow White had gone from being simply Henry's adoptive mother to his biological grandmother. With Emma back in the loop and trying to build a relationship not just with Henry, but with Snow and Charming, things were getting awkward. Especially since Henry loved having Emma as part of his life, and his family, but he and Emma clearly saw their relationship very differently. Emma wanted to start being Henry's mother, but since it was evident to him that they were now sharing Snow as a mother, he saw Emma more like a big sister. He liked it that way. Emma wasn't so keen, but she wanted to do what was best for Henry, so she swallowed it down. That didn't mean it wasn't hard though. Her parents could both see her struggling with finding a middle ground for their relationship where everyone was happy. They tried to be subtle about how they helped her out. Snow offered, one evening, that she might start doing Henry's school run. But Emma saw right through the act. She sighed.

"Henry doesn't want me to be his mother." Emma said outright, not able to hide the bitterness in her voice. "He already has a mom, a great one, I'm not prepared to get in the way of that."

It was fair to say that Snow, too, was conflicted by the whole situation (as Regina had hoped). She loved Henry. He was, after all, her son. She had raised him from near birth. But Emma was also her daughter, and she was the one hurting the most right now. Not only that, but she understood that it was difficult seeing her son getting everything from her mother that she never got the chance to have. Well, not just Snow anymore. Henry had accepted David before the curse had even broken (it helped that he knew David Nolan was his grandfather). He had already taken to calling him dad. He started well before Emma started calling either of them mom and dad. It was a lot for Emma to take in that she would have Henry in her life, but never really as her son.

"I can talk to Henry, if you want." Snow offered. "See if we can get him seeing your point of view." Emma shook her head.

"Thanks, but I don't want to confuse the kid, or make him feel guilty. Really, it's more than I deserve having him in my life as it is. You guys too."

"You always deserved a family, Emma." Charming reminded her. Emma nodded, but didn't say anything. There was no point in going down that path again. Emma would always feel out of place in a family, she knew that. She was grateful to have found hers now, even if it was quite unorthodox. She would just have to get used to it. It was better than going back to being alone.
