The next morning
I groaned as I walked from downstairs to the bar and sat on the stool for a second. I was sick to my stomach for some reason and was trying to fight the nausea.
Jo heard my groan and looked at me. "Are you okay?"
I nod and grabbed the tray to start collecting the empty glasses from the tables.
"What's wrong?" Jo asked and I stopped for a second, feeling the nausea again.
"I don't know… My stomach's upset. I just feel like I'm going to throw up any second." I set the tray down. I bent down and put my hands on my knees to fight the nausea.
I stood up and sat down next to Jo, putting my head between my legs.
Jo rubs my back. "Are you sure you should work tonight? You don't look so good right now."
"I need some fresh air." I said, standing up. I walked outside on the pouch and took a couple of breaths to try calm my stomach down. It wasn't helping at all.
I hear the engine of the Impala and I groaned again. I don't even want to see Dean.
I walked back inside. "Feeling better?" Ellen asked and I shook my head.
"I'll be fine, Ellen. The boys are here." I walked back to the tray and continued.
The door opens and the boys walk in. "Hey, we're back!" Dean said, looking at Ellen and Jo. They smiled at him.
I avoid looking at Dean. Sam notices that Dean and Emma are ignoring each other. Sam makes mental note in his mind to talk to Emma about that later. The boys sat down at the bar and I walked behind the bar with Ellen.
I don't say a word to the boys as I set the tray back in the place.
"Hi, Emma." Sam says to me and I smiled. "Hi, Sam. Glad to see you back." I said, looking at them.
Dean nods at me and Sam smiled at me. As I was putting up clean glasses back in place behind the bar, I noticed Ellen was looking at papers. I glanced over the paperwork and realized they were from Ash and he was supposed to give the report Sam and Dean. Ellen looked pissed.
Ellen looks at her daughter. "Jo?"
"Hmm?" Jo looks up.
"Go pull up another case of beer."
"Mom…" Jo protested but Ellen ignored her protest. "Now. Please."
Jo gives me a look then walked away to get the case of beer.
As Jo leaves, Ellen leans on the bar in front of Sam and Dean.
"So. You uh, you want to tell me about this last hunt of yours?"
I glanced at Ellen then at Sam and Dean.
Dean held his beer. "No. Not really. No offense, it's just kind of a family thing."
Ellen leans back and grabbed the papers. "Not anymore." She drops a stack of papers on the bar.
"I got this stuff from Ash. Andrew Gallagher's house burnt down on his six month birthday, just like your house. You think it was the demon both times, don't you? You think it went after Gallagher's family?"
"Yeah, we think so." Sam replied and Dean looks at him. "Sam…"
"Why?" Ellen asked, frowning.
"None of your business." Dean replied back to Ellen. I rolled my eyes at Dean and leans against the bar.
"You mind your tongue with me, boy. This isn't just your war, this is war. Now, something big and bad's coming and it's coming fast, and their side holds all the cards. Now, at best all we got is us. Together, no secrets or half-truths here."
Sam sighed heavily. "There are people out there, like Andy Gallagher, like me. And um, we all have some kind of ability."
I shifted uncomfortably. I haven't told Ellen about my ability.
"Ability?" Ellen replied in confusion.
Dean rolls his eyes, uncomfortable.
"Yeah. Psychic ability. Me, I have, um, I have visions. Premonitions." Sam glances at me then back to Ellen. "I don't know, it's different for everybody. The demon said he had plans for people like us."
"What kind of plans?"
Sam shook his head. "We don't really know for sure."
"These people out there, these psychics. Are they dangerous?"
Dean answered, "No. Not all of them." Sam looked at Dean. "But some are. Some are very dangerous."
Ellen was still processing this new information in her mind. "Okay, how many of them are we looking at?"
"We've been able to track a clear pattern so far. They've all had house fires on the night of the kid's six month birthday." Dean says, looking at his beer.
"That's not true." Sam says, looking at Dean. Dean looks up in surprise. I frowned at Sam.
"What?"
"Weber? Or Ansen Weems, or whatever his name is, I looked at his files, and there was no house fire. Nothing out of the ordinary."
I paled at this new information.
Ellen thought the same thing that I did. "Which breaks the pattern. So if there's any others like him, there'd be nothing in the system. No way to track 'em all down."
Dean nodded. "And so who knows how many of 'em are really out there?"
Ellen stared at them. Jo had just come back with the case of beer and puts them on the bar.
"Jo honey?" Ellen says, not looking at Jo as she looked at the boys.
"Yeah?"
"You'd better break out the whiskey instead."
I nodded, still in shock about this new information.
Sam noticed my expression. "Emma? Are you alright?"
My stomach churned. "Excuse me…" I whispered, covering my mouth and ran into the bathroom.
I vomited into the toilet and rested my head against the toilet seat after I threw up. I panted heavily and leaned against the stall, covering my face.
"Emma, are you okay?" Jo asked behind the stall.
I didn't hear her come in. "Yeah, Jo. I'm fine. Oh my god." I said, leaning over the toilet and threw up again.
"Um, do you need anything?" Jo asked, waiting behind the stall.
I spit out the nasty vomit out of my mouth. "No…" I moaned, leaning back against the wall.
"Okay, I'll be right back."
I listened to Jo's footsteps leave and the door closing.
I closed my eyes and rested until my stomach stopped churning. I started to feel better and didn't feel like that I was going to throw up some more so I stood up and flushed the toilet.
I walked out to the sink and turned on the water. I put my hands underneath the cold water and splashed it on my face.
I dried my face with a towel and leaned against the sink, my head down.
I heard the door opening and footsteps behind me.
"Hey, are you okay?" Ellen asks, walking to my side.
I nodded and glanced at Ellen. "Yeah, I'm fine. I think it's a bug or something like that."
Ellen nodded. "I don't want to jump to the conclusions but are you sure you're not pregnant?"
My head snapped up and I looked at her in shock. I started to stammer. "N... No. I'm pretty sure that I'm not."
I started to think about when was the last time I had my period and I froze. "Actually...Now I'm not sure. Oh my god, I can't be pregnant!" I whispered to Ellen, starting to freak out.
Ellen puts her hands on my shoulders. "Okay, you need to calm down for a second."
I nodded and took a deep breath. "Okay… I just can't be pregnant because this is a bad time now and Dean and I are not together anymore… I just can't do it."
Ellen nodded in sympathy. "You can take the pregnancy test when you get back to Bobby's house. Then if you are, you'll have to figure it out. If not, great."
"Okay, that's what I'll do then."
Ellen gave me a quick hug then left the bathroom. I stood there, thinking about when was the last time I had my period. Well, shit. I'm in trouble.
