Sorry, I'm late. I have been busy during the Thanksgiving break and the finals. So I hope you'll like this chapter. I am a little concerned because there has been silence from you guys since I last posted the previous chapter so I don't know if you are angry at me for Emma leaving Dean and Sam. So please leave a review to let me know that you are not (I hope) angry at me. Lol. Thanks! If you leave a review, I will post another chapter up, I promise! Thank you!
When I told Sam that I was leaving, he was upset at first then he understood why. As I hugged Bobby to say goodbye, I whispered into his ear. "Take care of my boys for me."
Bobby nods and kissed my forehead. I gave him a gentle smile and got into the car.
Sam nodded to Bobby and got into the car with me. I wave at Bobby as we started to leave.
There was a silence between me and Sam as he drove me to the bus stop. As we arrived at the bus station, I grabbed my book bag and my purse. Sam gets out of the Impala before I do. I tucked in a letter that I wrote into the dash. It was for Dean.
I get out of the Impala and put on my book bag then put my shoulder purse across my chest. Sam and I stood there, staring at each other. Sam shoves his hands inside and kicked the dirt. Sam was the first to break the silence.
"Take care of yourself, alright? Keep us in touch, Emma."
We hugged tightly. "I will, Sam. Take care of Dean and Bobby for me."
We break apart then Sam nodded. "I will. You can call us anytime if you want to."
I nodded. "Of course, I will."
I took my bus ticket out and stared at it. "I never thought that I would walk away from all of this, Sam. I never thought that I would fall in love with your brother and I never thought that we would break up but we did." I looked up and stared at Sam.
"But it's the right thing to do, Sam. I need to go back to Chicago and close up my parents' house. I need to sell it and move on. I need to deal with some issues that need to be resolved."
Sam nodded in sympathy.
"I'm sorry." I whisper then walked away to the bus. I get on the bus and waved Sam goodbye as the bus pulled away from the station. I stood there until I couldn't see Sam anymore. I sat down and covered my face, crying softly.
The next day
As I arrived at my parents' house, I stared at it for a while. Good memories came in my mind as I opened the door. I smiled at my memory of my parents standing there as they greeted me when I came home from college.
I sigh in sadness. I brought in a couple of boxes then started to pack some of my parents' stuff. I sealed them up with a tape and put them aside.
I grabbed two more empty boxes and walked to my father's door. Behind the door were his office and I remembered how I used to go in there and spend time with my father while he would work. I smiled again and opened the door. I glanced around, remembering everything that was left in here.
Part of me didn't want to pack it up; I wanted to leave everything in place so I could remember. But I couldn't. I needed to move on.
I went to my father's desk and started to put his things into the box. As I reached to the last drawer, it was locked. I frowned at it. What could be in the drawer? I searched around for a key and I couldn't find it.
I went back to the kitchen and grabbed a knife. I go back to the office and put the knife in the lock. I fiddle around with it until I heard a click.
I smiled and put the knife down on the desk. I opened it and went through the papers. It was just papers for his job and I frowned again. Why would he keep his work papers in the drawer and keep it locked? I don't understand.
I distantly heard a thud inside the drawer and realized that there was a hidden trap inside. I took the drawer out of the desk and flipped it upside down. It didn't open.
I growled out of frustration. I traced around the drawer until I felt something. I pushed it in and it opened up.
"Yes…" I said quietly and I looked inside. I frowned as I took out a leather red notebook. It looks older and some pages have been stained by something.
In the drawer, there was an envelope with my name on it. My heart ached as I realized that it was my dad's handwriting.
I put the notebook aside and took out the envelope. I opened it and took the letter out.
"Dear Emma,
If you found this letter, which means that we're dead. I'm so sorry. The red notebook that you found belonged to your birth mother. The firemen found a safe in their home and we discovered that your birth mother had left you a notebook, which was addressed to you. Apparently, it has been passed down in her family and she wanted to give it to you someday when you get older. But that didn't work out. There was a letter addressed to you from your mom, which is inside the notebook. I didn't read it but Amanda did. She realized that it was very important and that we needed to keep this for you. So I locked it up just in case. I think that in the notebook, it will help you to understand where you came from and who your family is after all. I hope that you will never find this letter but if you do, the notebook will explain about your bloodline. I hope it will help you.
Love always,
Dad."
"Holy hell…" I whispered, looking at the red notebook. If I read the notebook, maybe it could explain what my mother's last name was and where she came from before she married my birth father?
I struggled with my decision to read it or not and I decided to wait until I had everything done such as selling my parents' house and find a place for me to stay at. I couldn't stay at this house because it's too damn quiet and knowing that my parents are no longer here anymore.
I finished packing my father's office and took the red notebook with me.
After two days of packing my parents' house, I went ahead and called an agent to sell the house.
The next day, I got a call from my agent and she told me that someone already had made an offer on the house about six months ago and apparently this person still wanted my parents' house. It was a pretty damn good offer. I told her that I'd like to take the offer and the person can have my parents' furniture… I have no place for them.
Now my parents' house is off my hands and I don't have to worry about maintaining my parents' house anymore when I'm gone and traveling like I have been for the past eight months.
After putting the money from the offer into my bank account, I went and brought myself a used car, which was from 1965 and it was a blue Ford F-100 truck. It may be older but it's in a really good shape thanks to the previous owner who restored the whole truck but kept it classic.
I threw my book bag and purse in the truck and got in, starting it up.
I fiddled around with the radio until I found something to listen and blast it out, smiling at myself as I put my sunglasses on and drove my car away from my hotel, moving on to wherever I'm going.
I would like to thank the following readers who have added my story on their alert list and favorite list. If I left you out by accident, please let me know and I will certainly acknowledge you in the next chapter.
