Five months later, in Georgia.

I have been hunting on my own for a while, dealing with vampires and werewolves, shift shapers, and ghosts based on my research and looking out for any odd deaths. Luckily, I haven't run into the boys yet. It's been five months since I have left them and I haven't talked to them since then. I have talked to Sam once and that was when I was in California for a case. I never told him what I was doing. The only person that I have kept in touch with is Bobby and I talk to him almost every week just to let him know where I am and where to reach me in case he needed me.

I am running as I could hear growling behind me. I have been hunting a werewolf because there were five deaths in this small town. All were found without hearts. I knew it was a werewolf then.

I get to the tree and hid behind it as I panted heavily. My sides ached from running. I looked around to see if it was gone.

I couldn't see it and I took my gun out, cocking it as quietly as I could. The next thing I know is that I heard a growl beside me and I turned around quickly, bringing my gun up and I was knocked down by him.

My gun got knocked out of my hand and I fought with him, his sharp teeth bearing on me.

I strained to get my gun but it was too far away from me. I growl in frustration and struggled to push him away from me so he wouldn't bite me.

He scratched me across my arm and I screamed loudly as I felt the sharp pain and stinginess on my arm. That pissed me off right then. I used my super strength power and pushed him right up in the air, causing him to hit the tree.

I scrambled around among the leaves to get the gun and I turned around quickly, focusing my gun at him, still on the ground. He came quickly at me and I shot him two times straight in the heart. He stopped, staring at me in shock before he fell dead on the ground.

I sigh heavily out of relief and collapsed back on the ground with the gun on my chest. That was a close call. I could have gotten hurt really bad or worse, died.

I sat back up, checking my arm out. Luckily, the wound is not too bad but it hurts like a bitch. I have had so many wounds from my hunting but luckily, they were not severe.

I stood up and looked at the body. He had transformed from werewolf to a human again. I recognized him. He was one of the police officers that was at the crime scene recently when a girl was found murdered, with her heart missing. Damn it.

I bend down and closed his eyes with my gloved hand. "I'm sorry, David." I said quietly then stood up and walked away from his body. He'll be found in a couple of days.

I went back to my hotel, exhausted and sore from the hunting. I took my jacket off and bit down my bottom lip as I examined my wounded left arm. There were four long scratches that started from the shoulder down to almost closer to my elbow. They were not deep and they didn't need stitches as I thought. I took my gloves off and grabbed the whiskey nearby me. I never dreamed that I would be standing in a crappy hotel room, using the whiskey for wounds and sometimes to get drunk when I needed to forget about what I had seen that day. But that's what I get for being a hunter. I grunt in pain as I poured the whiskey down on my arm then took a long sip of it.

I cleaned the blood up then wrapped the gauze around my arm. As I changed my shirt and threw away my destroyed shirt, my cell phone started to ring. I grabbed it off the table and answer it.

"Hello?"

"Hi, Emma."

I smiled at Bobby's gruffly voice. "Hi, Bobby. What's up?"

"Listen, where are you right now?"

"I'm in Bartow, Georgia right now but I'm going to leave tomorrow. I just finished my case." I held my phone with my good shoulder as I packed my bag.

"Okay, that's good to hear that you solved the case without getting hurt."

I chuckled, shaking my head. "Nope, I got hurt tonight but I'm okay. It's only a scratch."

"Damn it, Emma. This is why I don't like you hunting alone. You should be doing this with the boys."

I could hear the commotion in the background. That's when I realized that Sam and Dean were there, bickering as usual.

"Bobby… they're there, are they?"

"Uh…" I could see him looking at them. "Yeah."

"Damn it, Bobby. Are they in front of you, staring at you?" I could see their faces, Dean with his serious face and Sam with his sad puppy look. I almost laugh as I pictured it.

"Yep, you got that correct."

I sat down, realizing something else. "Bobby…. Did you tell them?" I asked, praying that he didn't.

"That's why I was calling. Yes, I told them but only because they asked me. They started to hear from other hunters that they met and apparently, you got a reputation. The hunters told them about a girl who's a hunter and that's how she helps the hunters out once in a while and how damn good she is; considering that she has been doing this for almost five months now. Plus the hunters realized that you were stronger than everybody else, meaning that you were using your power, Emma. They put it together and thought of you but wasn't sure. They knew that I was in touch with you so they asked me. Emma, I can't lie to them. You know that."

I groaned then slumped backward against the bed. "Bobby… I am going to kill you when I see you."

Bobby chuckles; "No, you won't. You love me too much, Emma."

I shook my head, smiling. "You're lucky then, Bobby. How are they? Are they pissed?" I frowned in concern as Bobby paused for a moment before answering my question.

"Uh… Sam's not. Dean is- what, Dean?"

I heard Dean say something to Bobby.

"Emma, I am going to put you on the speaker phone. Hold on."

"Bobby, don't-" I was interrupted by Dean's voice.

"Damn it, Emma! Why the hell are you hunting? We had to hear this from the hunters and Bobby that you've been hunting for five months now and you didn't tell us?!"

I roll my eyes as I sat up and took my boots off, putting my phone on the speaker mode.

"Dean, it's none of your business. The reason I didn't tell you guys that I have been hunting for a while because I decided not to. The only person that knew about me hunting was Bobby and I have told Bobby not to tell you guys but I guess my reputation as a hunter came out so therefore here you go. Look guys, I love you guys but I needed to do this. It's not like I love the job but I like saving people and killing the monsters. I feel good when I do it and I feel bad when someone dies. I killed a werewolf tonight guys and I feel good because I know that he is no longer going to kill people."

There was a pause on my phone that I had to make sure that the call didn't drop. "Hello? Guys, you there?"

I threw my bag against the door. "Yes, we're here. Fine, Emma. If that is what you want, fine. But it's been five months since you left us. Why didn't you keep us in touch? No offense, but why Bobby?"

I could see Bobby giving Dean a bitch look and smiled. "Because I needed to clear my mind. The day I left, it killed me inside because I didn't want to but I needed to. I finally was able to sell my parents' house after a couple of days then I brought myself a car and just started to drive until I felt tired. One day, I had happened to see an odd death in the newspaper and found myself checking it out like I did with you guys. I guess I couldn't leave the hunter's life behind me… so I started hunting then decided to stick with it. I guess you could say that once you became a hunter, you can never go back to a normal life. Yes, it's a dangerous job but I am damn good at it like the hunters said. I have my reasons for not coming back, guys and...I can't come back until I'm ready."

Then Sam's voice came into the room. "Okay, Emma. We understand. I just wish that you could have told us because when Dean found out, he got really, really pissed like I have never seen him that angry before."

"You're damn right!" Dean snapped over the phone.

"Well, I'm sorry, Dean but…. I had to keep it to myself because I know how you feel about me hunting. Look, I gotta go. Bye guys."

"Emma, wait-" Bobby started to say but I hung up on him. I threw my phone on the bed and sighed heavily, rubbing my head tiredly.

I lay down on my bed, lost in my thoughts. I fought against my eyes closing but soon, I gave up and went to sleep, still in my clothes.

What did you think of Emma as a hunter? Do you think there is more to the truth than she lets on? Anyway I would like to give my thanks to the new readers who has put my story on their alert and favorite list:
