Two mothers- part 3
Hanaasked for a oneshot of a third and final instalment carrying on from Ch2750 "Two mothers- part 2" where Henry gets jealous of Emma and Eira's relationship and Snow talks to him about how Emma used to feel and how it was him that set the pace of the relationship.
Henry knew it was stupid to be jealous of a baby, but he couldn't help it. Emma had kept Eira without a second thought. She had given Henry away the first chance she got. How was that fair? Eira was growing up knowing everyone in her family. She had parents who loved her to the moon and back, as well as a big brother/uncle and grandparents. All Henry had was a mom who turned out to be his gran. He just didn't think he could be around Emma or the baby right now. He had to get used to things.
Emma of course noticed the change in Henry's attitude around her, but she didn't say anything. Like when things changed the first time, she was willing to let Henry come to terms and set the pace. Snow, however, decided she had to take action.
"Emma is coming round with Eira later." She told the sixteen year old. "Thought I might get a photo of you holding her?" She offered. Henry shrugged.
"You're probably better waiting until I've got my hair cut." He commented. Snow sighed. She knew he was just stalling. She came and sat on his desk.
"It's ok to be freaked out by this." She said quietly. "I know I'll always be your mom, but so is Emma. Now she's got a new baby that she's kept and that must be hard for you…"
"I don't want to talk about it." Henry snapped. It was too much, too real. Snow stopped. An awkward silence hung in the air.
"Emma tried to be another mom to you Henry, you know that." Snow said quietly. "It's not the kind of relationship you wanted with her. Everyone understands that, but part of choosing that means accepting that she is now a fulltime mother to Eira. You have a mom in your life, and a dad. Sure, our family isn't exactly mainstream, but we're all happy enough…most of the time." Snow reached out and placed her hand on her son's knee. "We all appreciate that this is hard for you, baby. Take the time that you need, but try not to sulk for too long. Eira's going to need you in her life one way or another. She's too little for titles just now anyway. Just be Henry. Just love her, just like me and Emma both love you, regardless of what you call us." Snow reminded him. Henry nodded. He knew she had good points. He just had to act on them now, that was the hard bit.
