Hi guys, I am so sorry that I was gone for a long time. I didn't intend to be gone that long. My life took over and there was an illness in my family so I had to stop and focus on it until my grandmother felt better. Then my college started back for the spring semester and I have my full time classes so it got me very busy. So I had to step away from my story for a while so I can take a break and rethink about the story and what is going to happen next. So I am happy to be able to post the chapter up tonight. Please leave a review, I would love to hear from my readers, ;)
As the hours went by and the daylight started to disappear, I stood outside, staring at the sky in silence. Dean hasn't spoken a word since our conversation earlier today. I kept thinking about the guy that I killed and it's like that he's haunting me now. Maybe he is. Ugh, I just don't know. I closed my eyes for a moment until I heard Dean's voice.
I turned my head and he was sitting in a chair, talking to Sam's body. I walked closer near the door so I could hear what Dean was saying.
"You know, when we were little — you couldn't be more than five— you just started asking questions. How come we didn't have a mom? Why do we always have to move around? Where'd Dad go when he'd take off for days at a time? I remember I begged you—"Quit asking, Sammy. Man, you don't want to know." I just wanted you to be a kid… Just for a little longer."
"I always tried to protect you… Keep you safe… Dad didn't even have to tell me. It was just always my responsibility, you know? It's like I had one job… I had one job… And I screwed it up. I blew it. And for that, I'm sorry. I guess that's what I do. I let down the people I love. I let Dad down. And now I guess I'm just supposed to let you down, too. How can I? How am I supposed to live with that?"
I hung my head down, feeing horrible for him. I looked up again and glance at him.
"What am I supposed to do? Sammy. God. What am I supposed to do? What am I supposed to do?!"
Dean shouted, kicking the floor in anger and grief. Part of me wanted to go over there and comfort him, but I knew better not to do that so I walked away from the door and went back to the same position that I was at before.
The next thing I know that Dean was rushing out of the door, putting on his jacket.
"Dean?" I said in confusion, watching him running to his car.
"Stay with Sammy. I'll be back!" Dean shouted over his shoulder, then got into his car, driving away.
"Dean!" I shouted. I sighed heavily and looked at the doorway. I forced myself to go inside. I walked into the room and stifled my sob as I see Sam's body.
I lay down next to Sam's body, putting my head against his chest. "I'm so sorry, Sam. I'm sorry." I sobbed into his chest.
I stopped crying and stare at the wall, my head still on his chest. I closed my eyes and went to sleep.
I heard a sharp breath and woke up suddenly, seeing Sam's eyes open. I screamed, scrambling away from his body and I slid down against the wall in shock, staring at Sam.
He sits up on the mattress, looking around, confused and breathing heavily. His eyes lay on me.
"Emma?" Sam frowned, looking around.
"Sam? Oh my god… Sam!" I rushed to him and I hugged him tightly, sobbing.
"What? What's going on?" Sam asked in confusion.
I break away and put my hands on his face. "I'm so happy to see you, that's all."
Sam smiles gently and we hugged again. "Well, it's good to see you again." Sam says, chuckling at me.
"Oh, you have no idea." I mumbled, smiling.
As I watched Sam checking himself out in front of a mirror, with a look of pain. There is a scar from where the knife was stabbed into his spine. In the distance, a door opens and Dean enters the room.
"Sammy."
"Hey."
Dean pulls Sam into a tight embrace.
I smiled gently at them.
"Ow. Uh, Dean…"
Dean releases Sam. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry, man. I'm just… I'm just happy to see you up and around, that's all. Come on, sit down."
They both sit.
"Okay. Dean… what happened to me?" Sam asked, confused.
Dean and I glanced at each other then he looked at Sam. "Well, what do you remember?"
"I-I saw you, Emma and Bobby, and… I felt his pain. This sharp pain, like… like, white-hot, you know, and then you started running to me, and… that's about it."
"Yeah, that—that kid stabbed you in the back. You lost a lot of blood. It was pretty touch and go for a while."
"But Dean, you can't patch up a wound that bad."
"Bobby could. Who was that kid anyway?"
"His name's Jake. Did you get him?"
Dean glanced at me then back to Sam. "No, he disappeared into the woods."
Sam's jaw clutches in anger. "We got to find him, Dean. And I swear I'm gonna tear that son of a bitch apart." Sam stands up with Dean following suit.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Easy, Van Damme. You just woke up, all right? Let's get you something to eat. Huh? You want something to eat?"
Sam nods. "I'm starving. How about you, Emma?" Dean asks, looking at me. I nodded.
"Come on." Dean says to us.
We went to a pizza place where we ordered our food. I picked at my pizza while I listened to Sam telling us what happened when he was taken. I pushed the plate away as Sam explains to us what happened before he died. Dean notices it, but didn't say a word. He's going to try to ask me why later. This isn't the time right now.
"And that's when you guys showed up." Sam said, taking a bite of his salad.
"That's awful. Poor Andy."
"The demon said he only wanted one of us to walk out alive."
"He told you that?"
"Yep." Sam scoffed. "He appeared in a dream."
I stopped picking at my pizza and glanced at Sam. "What? He appeared to you?"
Sam nodded.
"He tell you anything else?" Dean asks, trying to get back on the subject.
Sam shook his head. "No. No. That was it. Nothing else. You know, what I don't get, Dean, is if the demon only wanted one of us, then how did Jake and I both get away?"
"Well, I mean, they left you for dead. I'm sure they thought it was over." Dean takes a large bite of pizza. "So now that Yellow Eyes has Jake, what was he gonna do with him?"
"I don't know. But whatever it is, we gotta stop him."
"Well, hold on. You need to get your rest. We got time."
Sam didn't agree. "No, we don't."
"Sam, the oceans aren't boiling, okay? Frogs aren't raining from the sky. Let's get you your strength back first."
"Well, did you call the roadhouse? Do they know anything?"
I froze when Sam mentioned the roadhouse and glanced at Dean. Dean looked at me for a second, then at Sam.
"Yeah."
"Dean… what is it?"
"The roadhouse burned to the ground. Ash is dead. Probably Ellen—a lot of other hunters, too."
Sam looks down in sadness, then glances back at Dean. "Demons?"
"Yeah, we think so. We think because Ash found something."
"What did he find?"
"Bobby's working on that right now."
"Well, come on then. Bobby's only a few hours away." Sam begins to stand up so did we.
Dean grabs Sam by the shoulders. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Stop, Sam, stop. Damn it. You almost died there, I mean, what would I have-you just take care of yourself for a little bit, huh? Just for a little bit?"
"I'm sorry. No." Sam said and Dean shakes his head.
We got into the Impala and Dean drove all the way to Bobby's house. I fell asleep during the drive and was shaken awake by Sam. I let out a gasp as I woke up from my nightmare. "Hey, you alright?" Sam asks out of concern as he notices the sweat on my face.
I shook his hand off my shoulder gently, putting a smile on for him. "Yes, I'm fine. Just a bad dream is all."
"Hey, we're here. Come on."
I nodded and climb out of the backseat. I walked behind the boys up to the front porch.
Dean knocks on the door. Bobby opens the door and looks at Sam with astonishment.
"Hey, Bobby." Dean said quietly.
"Hey, Bobby." Sam said with a smile on his face.
"Sam. It's good to see… you up and around." Bobby says, looking at Dean and me then at Sam.
"Yeah, well… thanks for patching me up."
Bobby glances at Dean with a look. "Don't mention it."
"Well, Sam's better. And we're back on it now, so… what do you know?"
