Another chapter is up... I'm writing a lot today, so I am excited to post this up. I might post another chapter up after this one... I am on fire today! No pun intended. Lol.
Dean walks in after having a painful but angry conversation with Emma. Bobby glances at Dean then looked for her. She didn't come inside with him. Bobby glances at Dean again and Dean shook his head, letting him know that now it's not the time.
Bobby sighs heavily and sat down next to Ellen. He pours her a shot of liquid from a flask and pushes it towards her.
"Bobby, is this really necessary?" Ellen asks, annoyed with Bobby.
"Just a belt of Holy Water shouldn't hurt."
Ellen sighs heavily. She lifts the shot glass to her mouth and swallows the water. "Whiskey now, if you don't mind."
Dean crosses his arms, leaning against the wall. "Ellen, what happened? How'd you get out?"
"I wasn't supposed to. I was supposed to be in there with everybody else." Ellen scoffed. "But we ran out of pretzels, of all things. It was just a dumb luck."
Ellen drinks the whiskey Bobby poured her and exhales sharply. "Anyway, that's when Ash called. Panic in his voice." Ellen sighs again. "He told me to look in the safe. Then the call cut out. By the time I got back, the flames were sky-high. And everybody was dead. I couldn't have been gone more than fifteen minutes."
Sam looks at Ellen in sympathy. "Sorry, Ellen."
Ellen tears up. "A lot of good people died in there. And I got to live." Ellen scoffed. "Lucky me."
"Ellen, you mentioned a safe." Bobby asks, looking at her.
"A hidden safe, we keep in the basement."
"Demons get what was in it?
Ellen shook her head. "No." She pulls out a map from her pocket, unfolding it and setting it down on the table. It has several black lines and X's on it.
"Wyoming. What does that mean?" Dean points at the lines.
Ellen didn't know what it was so Bobby went out and grabbed a large book, reading it.
"I don't believe it." Bobby says, setting the book down on a table.
"What? You got something?" Sam asks, glancing at Bobby.
"A lot more than that. Each of these X's" Bobby points to the marks on the map. "Is an abandoned frontier church—all mid 19th century. And all of them built by Samuel Colt."
Dean's eyes widen. "Samuel Colt—the demon-killing, gun making Samuel Colt?"
"Yep. And there's more. He built private railway lines." Bobby points to the black lines on the map. "Connecting church to church. It just happens to lay out like this." Bobby connects the points on the map until the shape of a star is made.
"Tell me, that's not what I think it is." Dean says out loud.
"It's a Devil's Trap. A 100-square mile Devil's Trap." Sam replied, looking at Dean.
"That's brilliant. Iron lines demons can't cross." Dean smiles, looking at them.
"I've never heard of anything that massive." Ellen says, amazed about the Devil's Trap.
"No one has." Bobby replied.
"And after all these years none of the lines are broken? I mean, it still works?" Dean asked.
"Definitely." Sam replies to Dean's question.
"How do you know?"
"All those omens Bobby found. I mean the demons, they must be circling and they can't get in."
"Yeah, well… they're trying." Bobby says, looking at the map.
"Why? What's inside?" Ellen frowns in confusion.
"That's what I've been looking for. And, uh, there's nothing except an old cowboy cemetery in the middle. "Dean replied.
"Well, what's so important about a cemetery or… what's Colt trying to protect?" Sam leans against the table.
"Well, unless…"
"Unless what?" Bobby asked Dean.
"What if Colt wasn't trying to keep the demons out? What if he was trying to keep something in?"
"Well, that's a comforting thought." Ellen says sarcastically.
"Yeah, you think?"
"Could they do it Bobby? Could they get inside?" Sam asks, glancing at Bobby.
"This thing's so powerful; you'd practically need an A-bomb to destroy it. No way a full-blood demon gets across."
Sam pauses for a moment, then a light bulb went off in his mind. "But I know who could."
Bobby frowns at Sam. "Who?"
"Jake. The guy who stabbed me. I remember him telling me that the demon came to him in his dream and saying that one of us was going to have to survive so he could open the gate to Hell."
Bobby's face paled when he heard Jake's name mentioned. After what Emma had done to Jake, there was no way that Jake could be alive.
"Uh… Emma didn't tell you guys?" Bobby says, looking at Dean and Sam.
Dean frowns at Bobby. Sam had the same expression on his face too.
"Tell us what?" Dean asks, glancing at Sam.
Bobby took his hat off, rubbing his head, then puts it back on. "I'm surprised that she didn't tell you guys, but she did something to Jake."
Dean's eyebrows lifted. "She did what?"
The door opens and all of them glance at Emma.
Emma's POV
As I walked in Bobby's front door, I stopped when everybody looked at me.
"What?" I said after a moment of silence.
"Emma, what did you do with Jake?" Sam asks nervously.
I looked at Bobby and he looked upset.
"What did Bobby say?" I asked, looking at Sam.
"Just that you had done something to him." Sam replied, looking at Dean.
I sighed heavily and closed the door behind me. I lean against the door, glancing at them.
"When Sam got stabbed, Bobby and I ran after him, only Bobby couldn't keep up. I continued to chase him and I caught him after he had tripped. I talked to him for a moment and he explained that he had to kill Sam just because the demon had told him so. I let him go." I said, looking at Bobby.
"But… something took over me and I went back to Jake and broke his neck within a second."
Sam paled, Dean's mouth dropped and Ellen gasped in shock. "There you go. That's what I did to Jake, Sam. I killed Jake. But I just had a vision on my way back and Jake's alive."
"What?" Sam blurt out in shock, shaking his head. "How is he alive? I thought you broke his neck."
"So did I, Sam. But I think the demon brought him back so he could still use Jake to open the gate. He thinks you're dead, Sam."
"Holy balls, Emma. How the hell do you know what he's thinking?" Bobby asks, so freaked out by Emma's answer.
I shrugged. "I just know, Bobby. I'm connected to him somehow… way too connected than Sam. I think it's getting worse. I think it's the demon blood that he fed me when I was six months old."
Everybody was quiet after what I told them. "You know what, I'm going upstairs and I am going to get ready for tonight like you guys were planning to do. We're going after Jake."
"BALLS. This is not good." I heard Bobby says behind me as I walk upstairs.
I closed the door and leans against it, falling to the floor. This isn't me… something is happening to me and I'm changing slowly. It's like I'm becoming evil and it scares me so bad.
Downstairs
"Okay, this is not good at all, Bobby. You saw how Emma was when she was telling us about Jake and the demon. It's like she had no emotions at all. Something is happening to Emma." Ellen says, looking at Bobby.
"I know. We all saw that. I think she is having some kind of nervous breakdown." Bobby says, glancing at Dean.
"Why are you looking at Dean?" Sam asks, after noticing Bobby kept looking at Dean.
"Because Emma and Dean had to talk. What did Emma say, Dean?" Bobby asks, looking at Dean.
Dean sat down at the table. "Nothing really. We just had an argument about something and she just walked away. She needed to be alone." Dean says, feeling bad about lying.
"An argument about what?" Sam asks, sitting down next to Bobby. Ellen joins along, next to Dean.
"Sam… just random stuff. We had to have it out since she left us. It's been months and you know for the last couple of days have been insane so we had to talk. Just don't worry about it, Sam. We need to deal with the damn demon then after this, we can deal with Emma. We'll figure out what's wrong with her."
Sam nodded. "Okay. Let's get ready."
They all nodded and got ready for tonight.
Stardust67: Oh... keep imagining because you'll find out in the next chapter. ;)
