That night Macey, Bex, Liz and I huddled on a queen size bed in a safe house provided by the CIA. No matter how much I insisted on staying at my own apartment in D.C. I was forced to stay off the grid until they could ensure my place was safe. Too much of the dismay of the poor guy in charge, he got an earful until Bex, Macey, and Liz were deemed clearance to stay with me.

"Okay tell me everything again, don't leave anything out," Liz said, she had been trying to analyze the entire situation since it happened.

"Liz, she's already told us three bloody times already, you should have it memorized by now," Bex said

Liz looked offended, "I had it memorized the first time, thank you very much. And I was just making sure we didn't miss any important pieces of information or clues that could help us. Are you sure there is nothing else he said?"

"Zach is smarter than that, he wouldn't say anything that would risk too much," I mumbled.

"It just doesn't make sense," Liz said scribbling in a notebook. "The numbers don't add up."

"It makes perfect sense," Macey muttered as filed her nails. She seemed about as uninterested in this conversation as she did in organic chemistry. "This is exactly like him." Macey blew at her nails and then looked up.

"Go on," Bex urged.

"Think about it. From the moment you bet him, Cam. He was always disappearing. You never really knew more than he wanted you to, he's smart, he plays games, and can get away with it. Not only did he grow up training to be an assassin, but he also grew up in the middle of one of the biggest government secrets ever."

"So did we," I added. "It's not like the Gallagher Academy is a known place itself."

"It's not the same. They made it look like this place died decades before, it held the secret to a terrorist organization. Face it, Zach knew exactly what he was doing."

"He was different though. He wasn't his same cocky self. He was sacred."

"There is no place like home" Liz muttered.

"What was that Lizzie?" Bex asked.

"Zach said 'there is no place like home'! How could I be so stupid!" Liz quickly pulled up her laptop and started typing.

"Um, Liz?" I asked.

"Cammie, when was the first time you ever met Zach?"

"In D.C., on the elevator. He was one of our tails in our mission."

"And where were you going?"

"To meet Mr. Soloman at the-" I stopped realizing what she was getting at.

"Oh my gosh!" Bex practically yelled!

"Okay I am missing something," Macey muttered.

"The ruby slippers exhibit. That's where I found out who Zach really was."

"So basically what I'm hearing is, your handsome hunk wants you to go see the wonderful wizard of Oz?" Bex has an evil grin on her face.

"Should we report this? I feel like we should report this." Liz looked scared.

"No," I said. "We report it after we see where this clue leads."

"So, road trip?" Macey asked.

It took approximately fourteen hours, thirty-two minutes, and eighteen seconds to drive to D.C. from our safe house. No, we were technically not supposed to leave it until we got clearance from the CIA, but at this moment, there were more important things.

We parked and walked towards the row of museums. We had driven all night and morning, it was about mid-afternoon. We decided to scatter and survey the area, and then I did what I always did. I blended in. I stopped and grabbed a hotdog from a vendor. I wandered into the air and space museum, then back out. I did this for about thirty minutes until I was certain no one was following me.

I pushed the door open to the Museum of American History and wandered around like a tourist. As I walked along with the exhibit I couldn't help remember the last time I had been in here. My failed mission that ultimately brought me to Zach.

As I came upon the red slippers enclosed in their black case I thought of Zach.

I admired the shoes looking for a clue, and note anything. I stepped closer looking around. Nothing.

'What is it?' I thought to myself. I stared at the small shoes, before pulling out my phone to call the girls.

Suddenly sirens started going on and red flashed from the emergency lights. People started rushing towards the exit. I turned to follow as well when someone grabbed my arm. I countered their eight against them and flipped them over my shoulder and into the floor. Digging my knee into their chest. The moment I locked eyes with the person I froze.
