"Happy Valentine's Day, Dora," Xenophilius said with a smile.

"Happy Valentine's Day, Xeno," Pandora replied. The two of them were heading downstairs to the kitchen when the sound of singing reached their ears. "You go and get breakfast started; I'll get Luna," Xeno said.

He walked into Luna's bedroom and found the two-year-old sitting up in her bed singing in gibberish. "Good morning, moonbeam," he said.

"Mowning," Luna replied. "Daddy s'eep good?"

"Why yes, I did," her father said. "Did you?" The little girl nodded, and the two of them headed down to the kitchen for breakfast.

Later that morning, Xeno and Luna were seated on the sofa of the sitting room. "Do you know what day it is, Luna?" asked Xeno. The toddler shook her head. "Well, it's Valentine's Day."

"Vawentine's Day," repeated Luna.

Her father nodded. "Valentine's Day is a day for families to show how much they love each other." He showed her the February issue of The Quibbler; on the cover was a drawing of what looked like bright pink and red birds circling a large red heart. "It is also the day when the Amorous Avilores come out and sprinkle a special kind of magical dust that makes one's feelings of love even stronger."

"Pwetty biwdies!" exclaimed Luna, pointing at the drawing.

"Indeed. But they can only be seen by those who truly believe in them." Just then Pandora walked into the room.

"Mummy! Biwdies," Luna told her, again pointing at the drawing of said creatures.

"Ah yes, the Amorous Avilores," Pandora said, smiling. "We'll look for some later today. But right now Mummy has some important work to do." As her mother went down to the lab, Luna dashed up to her room to start working on something special for her parents.

That afternoon, Luna had just finished her little project when Pandora came in. "See biwdies?" the little girl asked eagerly.

"No, sweetie. First it's time to take your nap." Pandora made to get Luna into her bed, but the two-year-old pulled away.

"Not s'eepy!" she protested. "Biwdies!"

"You can see the birdies later," Pandora told her. "Right now it's naptime." Luna let out a whine of disappointment but obediently climbed into bed; Pandora handed her a little cup of warm milk to help her get to sleep.

At last, after about an hour, Pandora went to wake up Luna, and soon the three Lovegoods were standing outside the Rook, looking up at the sky.

"Where biwdies?" Luna asked her father after about three minutes.

"They'll be along, moonbeam," Xeno told her. "We must be patient." The little girl slid her thumb into her mouth and looked back up at the sky.

A few more minutes passed by before Pandora exclaimed, "Look!" There was a small flock of pink and red birds flying overhead. As the Amorous Avilores soared across the sky, a warm, fuzzy feeling slowly came over the Lovegoods, and before long Pandora and Xenophilius were snuggling against each other while Luna hugged them both around the knees.

They stayed like that for a while; Pandora then thought to herself, I suppose now would be a good time to try out my new spell. She took out her wand and waved it around, producing bright red heart-shaped bubbles. Laughing gleefully, Luna jumped up and down while trying to catch them in her little hands.

"Is that the spell you were working on earlier today?" asked Xeno.

"Yes. I figured Luna might enjoy it." As soon as the family was back inside, Luna ran up the stairs to her room, returning a minute later with a drawing.

"What's this, sweetie?" her mother asked. As the toddler held up the drawing, Pandora saw that it was a large red heart; Xeno and Pandora were standing inside the heart with Luna in the middle. There were also pink and red birds surrounding the heart.

"This is absolutely beautiful, moonbeam," said Xeno, tearing up; Pandora then picked up Luna and hugged her. "Thank you, Lu-Lu! Daddy and I love it!"

Luna giggled and beamed proudly.

That night, as Pandora was getting into bed, she propped up Luna's drawing (now encased in a silver frame) on the nightstand. She and Xeno took a moment to watch the Amorous Avilores flying around the large heart.

"You know, Xeno," she said thoughtfully, "I think this might be our best Valentine's day thus far."

"I agree," her husband replied, and the two of them shared a passionate kiss, falling asleep within minutes.
