Sleepless and toothless

Well, my request list is officially empty, so this is just one of my own for now.

"Come on princess. It won't help if you aren't sleeping." Snow murmured, rocking the six-month-old baby gently back and forth in her arms. Still, Emma wailed on. Snow understood. It couldn't be particularly comfortable teething. Not that Snow or Charming remembered going through it themselves. They felt awful for their poor little princess, but there was only so much they could do. Doc had given them some numbing potion to rub on her little gums, but that seemed to be having limited impact.

"Here, pass her to me." Charming murmured sleepily as he pushed himself up on the bed. Snow handed the still wailing Emma over to her daddy. She buried herself against his chest, miserable. Snow snuggled over, resting her head against Charming's shoulder, a hand resting on Emma's back.

"Aw baby girl. This is no good, huh?" He said quietly against her ear. Emma continued to cry. "Well, how about daddy sings his little princess her song? Maybe that will help." He offered. He cradled Emma carefully in his arms. Then, as he rocked her, he began to hum to her the familiar lullaby that he and Snow had created together, just for their baby girl. Snow joined in, singing her parts of the harmony. Emma's wails began to slowly decrease until she was hiccupping more than crying. Then, ever so slowly, her eyes began to droop closed. Snow and Charming kept up their humming until they were both certain that the little princess was indeed sound asleep. Only then did they stop. Snow peered up at Charming.

"Does she have to go back in her crib tonight?" She whispered, gently rubbing small circles on their baby's tummy. "She's been so cranky today. She looks so peaceful now though." She commented. Charming smiled.

"No, I suppose not." He replied. Snow smiled down at Emma lying in between them both. She was just so perfect. Even when she was cranky from teething.
