5 ½ weeks later
September 17, 2008
So what happened to me after I made a life-changing decision for me? 5 ½ weeks ago, I chose not to keep in touch with Bobby and Sam… I pretty much abandoned them. I left Georgia and just drove until I had heard about this little beach town in Chincoteague, Virginia so I drove there.
When I got to the town and saw the beach, I knew that I had found my home. "This is it." I say out loud to myself, standing on the beach as I watch the seagulls flying around in the sky.
So I got a beach cottage on a lease and made myself at home. I even changed my hair color back to the original color but I cut it even shorter, about above my shoulder.
I already had money from my parents' death, but I still wanted to work so I was able to get a part-time job at the bookstore near my place.
So here I am, almost six weeks later, enjoying my day at the beach.
It was chilly today, so I had my oversized oatmeal cardigan on, over my white tank top and light denim shorts. I was reading my book, playing with the sand lazily when a human shadow came over my book. I smile, looking up at the person.
It was Michael Daugherty, a guy that I have been dating casually. "Hey Michael."
Michael leans down to my face and gives me a quick kiss on my lips. "Hey baby," he says, plopping down next to me. I went back to reading my book, but he didn't like that and took the book away from me gently.
"Hey, I was reading that!" I say, reaching for my book, but he stopped me, kissing me again.
I let out a giggle as he leans back from kissing me. "Now, I got your attention, don't I?" He asks, his blue eyes flickering back and forth.
I nodded, caressing his unshaven cheek. "Yes, you do. How was work today?"
He lets out a groan, lying down. "It was crappy. How was yours?"
I lay down next to him, caressing his rough hand. "It was good. I was able to get off from work early so I came here to read my book but you came instead. So what are you doing tonight?"
He sat up and took his hat off, fixing his black hair before responding. "Well, I am going out with the boys tonight. It's the guys' night. I just thought that I could spend time with you before I go out, Amanda."
Oh, another thing that I changed about myself. My name. It's now Amanda Drake.
I smile at him and sat up to face him. "That's sweet of you," I say, giving him a kiss and he deepened it, wrapping his arms around me.
"Hmm," I let out a sigh as we cuddle in each other's arms, watching the ocean in silence. "I know that we have been dating for the past weeks, but…. I still need to know what happened to you before you came here. You never told me why you moved here. The first time I saw you, you looked so sad. There was no smile on your face when customers came up to you. I never found out why you looked so sad since we started dating," Michael says, his eyes flashing back and forth.
I look at Michael in silence, then let out a heavy sigh. "It's hard for me to open myself to everybody… especially to you."
Michael looks down and took my hand into his hand. "It's okay… you can tell me. I'll listen."
I give him a soft smile. "Well… the reason I was sad was because I had moved here and I was homesick. I had lost my parents and I left behind some people that I had been staying with for a long time…. They became my family. Two months ago, I decided that I needed a change in my life. It was about a few weeks after I had lost my late boyfriend…. About four months ago."
I felt the tears coming to my eyes and I look at the sunset, avoiding looking at Michael as I continued to tell my story.
"I made a tough decision to leave his brother and his surrogate father behind and it was so hard, but I knew it was right for me…. Even I hurt them by leaving them," I say, my voice cracking as I look back at Michael. He wipes my tears away with this thumb and gives me a soft kiss on my forehead.
"I'm so sorry…." He whispers, caressing my arm. I nodded and I went into his arms, cuddling with him as we watch the sunset. He was staring at me so I look up to his face.
"Thank you for trusting me," Michael whispers, his forehead against mine. I smile, nodding softly.
Michael walked me back to my house, kissing me goodbye as he leaves. I wave at him as his truck lets out a honk.
I went inside and walked to my bedroom where I had changed into my pajamas.
After I settled down for the night with a glass of wine and popcorn, I watched a movie. By the time the movie had ended, I had fallen asleep on my couch.
I was awakened by someone opening the front door and I looked up from the couch. It was Michael, walking in. He closes the door behind him, dropping his gym bag on the floor.
"Hey?" I muttered, half-sleep as Michael approaches to me. He took the blanket off that was laying on me and picked me up in his arms, carrying me to my room.
"Hey! Michael, what are you doing?" I let out a giggle as he puts me down in front of my bed. He took his hat off and threw it across the room.
"This is what I'm doing." Michael says before crushing his lips upon my lips. I let out a moan, kissing him back, taking my silk robe off. Michael then took his shirt off, which I helped him with and kissed him back.
We took our clothes off and we made love… the wildest sex that I have ever had in a long time.
After we had sex, we laid in my bed, whispering to each other about our lives. We soon fell asleep in each other's arms.
Hey guys, I have been thinking about creating a website for this story, like maybe putting a face to my character and other characters that I am going to introduce in the story later on. What do you think? I think it can help you to visualize this story and to see what they look like...let me know and I'll be happy to do that for you. :D...By the way, no hate on Michael for making her happy. LOL. Guess what? Dean is coming back next chapter. If you leave a review...you'll get a new chapter tomorrow!
