Like cat and dog
neongenesisevang asked for a oneshot of Emma and Neal teasing and annoying each other like normal siblings even though Emma is an adult. Snow scolds them both.
Guest: Sorry, but I can't see Snowing doing that.
"You're such a butt wipe!"
"Takes one to know one, you little dipstick!"
Snow sighed, burying her head in her book. Was two minutes of peace so much to ask for? She had left Emma to look after Neal for a few minutes. Clearly that decision had cost her. Emma and Neal might have a larger age gap than most siblings, but you wouldn't always know that by the way they fought like cat and dog. It was never one person's fault. They were both as bad as each other. Neal would wind up his big sister, then blow out when Emma retaliated. The problem was, Emma was a grown woman who should know better than to give in to her little brother's teasing.
For a moment, Snow thought about just pretending she hadn't heard anything and continuing to read her book until they calmed down. But deep down Snow knew that if she tried that it would just get worse until she had to go into no man's land. So, reluctantly, Snow set her book down and went through to find them both still bickering. As soon as they both saw her, they launched into explanations as to how their sibling was the one at fault. Snow held a hand up, silencing them both.
"I don't want to hear it." She said quietly. Emma and Neal both felt fear growing within them. That was their mom's dangerously mad voice. "You are both winding each other up and you know it. Neal, if you can't take Emma teasing you back, you shouldn't be winding her up in the first place. You might be the youngest, but don't think for a moment that means you get away with everything, mister. You know me better than that. Emma, you're an adult. You should know better than to retaliate and escalate the situation. Neal, go to your room. Emma, you have a room here, go to it." Snow told them.
"I don't have to stand here and take this! I'm out of here…"
"Emma Ruth Swan if you leave this house so help me you'll regret it." Snow warned her. She then looked at Neal, who Snow could tell was ready to give some crocodile tears. "Neal Leopold Nolan don't even think about it. You've done wrong and you know you have. Accept the consequences like a big boy. Now, both of you, march!" Snow told them. Emma and Neal then slipped off to their respective rooms. Man, their mom was scary sometimes.
