Lucy held Reepicheep closer to her and whispered, "Why would someone have a room with just a wardrobe and a dead bluebottle? It doesn't make sense."

Reepicheep replied in a muted tone, "They're all there for a reason, your majesty."

Lucy grinned. "All right."

There was something odd in the wardrobe, or maybe she was just curious. That must be it. As she opened the door, she scarcely noticed Reepicheep sliding out of her arms and onto her shoulder.

As she came to the fur coats, the brush of the coats masked Reepicheep's leap away.

As she pushed through into the wood, she looked around in wonder.

As she stepped towards the lamp post, she wondered where Reepicheep was.

But a moment later she was distracted; and that was a good thing, for Reepicheep was not to be found.
