Independence victory
A guest asked for a oneshot of the EF celebrating their independence after a battle (totes not still a sore subject for my country :L). There's a fireworks display. Snowing notice that a toddler Emma is missing from the celebration. They go looking for her inside and find her curled up in a closet with a very scared Wilby. She explains that she's comforting the pup because he's so scared of the fireworks.
Guest: Sorry, but that doesn't seem to include any other Charming family members
JRocks: That's perhaps slightly dark for me.
braidscoffeeava: Could you please let me know of a source that explains that being a reason for an adult putting things in their mouth?
Snow leaned contently against her husband. This war had been one of the most difficult in the kingdom's history. Being the leaders throughout had been incredibly stressful, but now, it was finally over. They had won. George's kingdom would no longer be able to lord it over them.
Snow chuckled at little one year old Neal in her arms. He was making all kind of faces at the fireworks going on in celebration.
"They are pretty, aren't they baba?" Snow said, pressing a kiss against the side of Neal's head.
"What do you think Em, you're being awful quiet, little missy?" Charming asked, still looking up at the fireworks. No response. "Em?" He asked as he looked down at his side. Snow heard the gasp he gave over the loud noises of the gathered crowd, meaning she knew it was serious. "Emma!" Charming cried out, looking all around him.
"Emma's not here?!" Snow squeaked. Charming shook his head, continuing to look. She was an adventurous little three year old, it wouldn't surprise either parent had she just slipped off. They still had to find her before something serious happened though.
Fortunately for the parents, Doc had been brushing up on his potion making skills. As such, he had managed to make a locator potion and had a small vile in his case. The parents poured some on her teddy (that Charming had been landed with when Emma didn't want to carry it anymore) and followed the path it led them on. They were surprised when they were brought into their own bedroom. Especially since Emma was nowhere to be seen. Still, the teddy kept going until it stopped, hovering in front of their wardrobe. Curious, Snow opened the doors. She smiled at the sight. As did Charming. Inside, all curled up together, were Emma and Wilby.
"Honey, what are you doing in here?" Snow asked gently. Emma's eyes were heavy with tiredness. It had been awful cosy in the little wardrobe.
"I saw Wilby upset." Emma said, clearly tired. "He didn't like the bangs." She explained. Snow and Charming looked at poor Wilby, who was indeed looking rather sorry for himself.
"Well, I think everyone else can handle finishing the festivities outside." Snow said. She placed Neal down on their bed and picked up Emma, as Charming did the same with Wilby. "I think a story is in order." Emma grinned happily as she was deposited on the bed beside her little brother. Wilby was then placed at the bottom of the bed before Snow and Charming got on, keeping their children in between them. Celebrating their victory themselves could wait. Emma and Neal were too little to fully understand what was going on, and now seeing how upset he was, neither wanted to leave Wilby alone either. They were so proud of Emma, taking care of their dog. Although a conversation would need to be had about wandering off. But for tonight, they would let cosiness win with a nice bedtime story, and sweet dreams the night long.
