The recorder- part 2

Fiona2832 asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch2494 "The recorder" where Snowing ask Emma to sing the little song for them. Just once, a very reluctant Emma agrees to sing it, but only if nobody else is around.

"Please, Em?" Snow pleaded with her.

"Just once?" Charming added.

"Come on, guys." Emma groaned. They had been pleading with her ever since they heard the recording of her singing for a live rendition. That was nearly three weeks ago now. Emma was beginning to think she'd never hear the end of it.

"I don't really sing anymore, guys." Emma pointed out. "It's probably best if I just leave it…"

"Come on, Emma. It's not like we're going to go all Simon Cowell on you. We never got to hear you sing to the Black Fairy because we were frozen. We promise. Just hum it for us once and we'll never mention it again. Please?" Charming pleaded with her. Emma sighed.

"One time?" She confirmed. Snow and Charming nodded eagerly. Emma glanced around the windows to make sure no unexpected visitors were arriving. She closed her eyes and counted to ten to calm herself. Snow and Charming practically held their breaths. They'd been hoping she might cave today, they just had a funny feeling. Emma sat down timidly on the couch, feeling her face heat up already. "Don't stare." She mumbled. Snow and Charming did as she asked, not wanting her to change her mind. Then, before she bottled it, Emma began to hum the tune so familiar to her. It brought back the warm feeling it always brought with it when she used it as a child. A feeling that was so close to love. Now she understood why, it was the closest thing to love her parents could give her.

It seemed to only last a few seconds before the tune ended. Snow and Charming looked over at their daughter, each with tears in their eyes.

"That was beautiful, sweetheart." Snow praised her.

"It really was." Charming agreed. He found it breath-taking. Emma smiled shyly.

"Uh, thanks." She said awkwardly. "I'm just gonna…go get some air." Emma said, shuffling out the back door. Snow and Charming smiled over at each other.

"Did you get it?" Snow whispered to Charming. He nodded, pulling his phone out of his pocket.

"I did." He promised her. "I'll send you it now." Snow and Charming really had hoped Emma would gave that day. That's why when they began to pester her, Charming set his phone to record the whole encounter, knowing Emma would never agree to it being recorded. Not that they would ever send it to anyone else. No, this was for their ears alone. They loved the recording of Emma singing it as a child, but it was hard to listen to that subtly. They would keep those precious few seconds of their daughter's voice for their rainier days, and found it always brightened things up.
