It was early in the morning when Hermione decided to go and sit in the library before breakfast. She was sitting all alone reading, when she heard a small noise, she looked up but saw nothing, assuming it was a bird she started reading again. She heard it again, it was like the whisper of an incantation.
She slowly got up, wand raised and whispered, "Hommenum revelio.". Then came a yell and the sight of Malfoy being dragged by an invisible force towards Hermione, who seemed to be shocked too. He got up, straightened his robes and almost screamed at her, " What the hell do you think you're doing Granger?! A guy can't even study in a library without being dragged on his ass like he's an intruder."
You could tell she felt slightly sorry because she was trying very hard not to laugh. "Who do you think you're fooling? You were definitely not studying. Which evil spell were you trying to master standing in the restricted section?", she said defensively.
" What are you talking about? I was sitting and reading. And whatever I do is none of your business.", he said huffily.
"Not my business? In case you've forgotten, I'm a prefect so anything you do is my business. But if you insist, I'll go to Professor Mc Gonagall and report you.".
"What? No. Why would you do that?"
"Then tell me what were you doing."
"Fine.", he scowled, " I was learning the stunning spell. There. I said it. Are you happy now?"
"You can't stun? And here I thought you new the darkest of spells.". She couldn't take it anymore, she started laughing hard. "Oh my god", she said laughing, "You threatened to kill me and you can't stun."
"Ok we get it, it's funny. You can stop now. Now can we leave prefect Granger?", he said. His embarrasment was fading away and his arrogance was kicking back in, "I can't be seen in the company of a mudblood ."
"Really that's the best insult you can come up with? Imagine what people will say when they hear that a mudblood dragged you on your ass while you were trying to learn fourth year magic?"
"You wouldn't dare."
"Let's find out shall we?"
"Ok Granger, I'll make you a deal, I won't trouble you, mock you or call you a mudblood and you won't mention this little incident to anyone?"
"That's a deal.", she put her hand forward.
Hesitant, he took it but both let go quickly.
And as they both went separate ways, pretending to hate each other, both could swear that they had felt a little jolt when their hands had touched.
