Chapter 15

Moving Day

The past few weeks had been so much fun for Jareth and Sarah. Ever since Jareth had gotten Ceres, he seemed happier and more relaxed around the other fae wolves. The sad twinkle in his eyes had vanished, and had been replaced by a new glow, which made Sarah very happy.

They had also given his new roman bathtub quite a workout and acted like love struck teenager at times. It did not always lead to making out, but they enjoyed their time in it, together as a couple, and strengthened their bond between them even more.

Mara had filled Ceres in on the 'lovey dovey behavior' of their masters, and he had gotten used to sitting a lot in front of the bedroom door with Mara. He too started to enjoy the quiet times with her, and Mara seemed to come around on him as well.

Jay and Jeremy were getting stronger by the day and learned new words constantly. Sarah had told everyone to be careful what words they would use around the boys, as they started to pick up on everything now. When Sarah heard Jeremy proclaim 'god damn goblin', she immediately threw Jareth a dirty look. He only shrugged his shoulders and laughed. The 'oh hell no' was blamed on Marjorie, and she pleaded guilty as charged.

It was getting close to Marjorie's and Mark's moving day. They finally had all their paperwork approved, and a credit line had been established with some backing from Jareth. Sarah rewarded him handsomely for it in his roman bathtub. He offered to establish another credit line or two, but she thought one was enough, much to his dismay.

Krum was happy in his new little abode on the castle grounds, and he built on it every day, making repairs and improvements. Soon it looked like a mini palace all by itself and Krum was proud of it. He too had done a lot of growing since Kelan had removed the spell that had kept him a child for the past three hundred years. He was now nearly five feet tall and looked more like a teenager of sixteen than little Krum from the flower shop.

Sarah was elated and had enrolled him in the HLS, the Higher Learning School in Elvenwood. She had to pull a few strings as goblins were not allowed into that school, but after learning that Krum was the royal cousin to the queen, he was admitted without any issues. He had been an A student ever since and he always showed Sarah his report card and test grades, with his big ears still turning red.

He always addressed her with Cousin Sarah, even though Sarah had told him that he could just call her Sarah. She guessed Krum was big on etiquette and official procedures and thought he would make a fine public servant in a few years.

The Labyrinth had been fairly quiet since the death of Oda, but Jareth knew the goblorks were only biting their time. The only thing that made him sleep at night was knowing that the Labyrinth defense system was in good hands with Faron, Arman, and Aden in charge.

Having the fae wolves also put Jareth' mind at ease. His family was protected. He had the four most powerful fae wolves in the entire Underground at his disposal. No goblork would be stupid enough and mess with Sarah or the boys.

Sarah had a little grave dug for her unborn child in the garden underneath a big ash tree and she visited it every day. It would have been a little girl and Sarah had named her Linda, after her mother. Jareth was not convinced it was a good idea as it would remind Sarah every day of their loss, but Faron thought it would be necessary for her to deal with it on her own terms.

Often Jareth would go with her and hold Sarah's hand. They would sit there together, mostly in silence. At first it was extremely hard and Sarah would cry every time, but over the following weeks Sarah had come to term with it and the crying had stopped. She would talk to Linda and tell her about all the things that had been happening, but it was no longer out of sad desperation.

"Jareth", Sarah had asked him on one of those visits, "now that we are mostly here in the Underground, would it be possible to bring my dad and my mom down here and lay them besides little Linda's grave? This way I could have three of my closest family members nearby and be able to visit whenever I want to."

Jareth could not deny her that request, and one night, he, Faron, Arman, and Aden went to the Surface World and raided Sarah's parents' graves. They dug up their coffins and brought them both to the Labyrinth Kingdom. Jareth had a beautiful little mausoleum erected for them, and for little Linda, with their names and dates engraved.

He even had three brand new elven coffins made of beautiful black walnut with inlaid gold inscriptions. On top of the coffins was a gold inlay of a flying owl, holding the crest of the Labyrinth in its talons. Sarah's dad was given the posthumous title of 'Father of the Queen', and Sarah's mother received the title of 'Mother of the Queen'.

Sarah was so thankful to Jareth, she embraced him for over an hour without letting go of him while she quietly sobbed.

"Now our family is complete and together", she told him through tear stained eyes. "I can heal now."

Jareth had kissed her gingerly as his own eyes had filled with tears.

"None of us will ever be alone again, ever", he promised. "We'll always be together."

It was now mid-August and the hottest part of the Underground summer. Sarah had opened a new city pool for all the inhabitants of Goblin City regardless of race or specie. Her approval rating once more shot through the roof and the citizens had decided to erect a statue of Queen Sarah on the town square, right next to the one of King Jareth.

Sarah and Jareth were invited to conduct the unveiling, with Sarah pulling the chord of the sheet covering the statue. It was beautifully carved out of marble and both Jareth and Sarah were impressed. It struck a canny resemblance to her and depicted her standing with outstretched hands as if she was welcoming someone. She wore her coronation gown, her tiara, and the medallion. Below it was an inscription that read:

The Welcoming Queen

"Queen Sarah, who welcomes every one as an equal"

Sarah was touched, and Jareth had a big smile on his face as he beamed with pride.

"It's beautiful. I wonder who the sculptor was", Sarah asked, but her question was soon answered when they introduced her to the maker of her statue. He was an older goblin named Caryll, and he was the same goblin who also had sculpted Jareth' statue centuries ago.

Jareth was so taken in by the accuracy of Sarah's statue he declared Caryll the 'Royal Sculptor'. Jareth had several more commissions for him for the castle's garden. The crowd cheered at the news and instantly Jareth' approval rating went through the roof as well.

"Perfect diplomatic move, hun", Sarah whispered into his ear and smiled. "That's why you are such a great king. I think there's a roman bathtub waiting for us tonight", she added and winked. Jareth wanted to leave the ceremony immediately, but he had to suffer through another hour of formalities and a lengthy reception.

"Oh, you are cruel", he mouthed at her. She made up for it later with a fate come i romani session in his bathtub and he was happy again.

Mark and Marjorie were scheduled to move into their house in only a couple of days. Marjorie had phoned Sarah every day the past week she was so excited.

"Oh my god, I can't believe we'll actually be official residents of the Underground. What does that make me? An Undergroundling or something?"

Sarah busted out laughing. "I don't think there is such a thing, but you'll have to go through the crystal ceremony to be official, and to be able to turn into a fae and become immortal. That's going to be interesting."

"I'm a bit nervous about that part", Marjorie admitted. "Does it hurt?" She wondered and Sarah giggled quietly to herself.

"Like hell", she replied and had a hard time not to laugh out loud, especially when Marjorie started to freak out on the other end.

"We'll see you guys in just a couple of days and help with all the unpacking and stuff. You'll be fine." With that she hung up, never telling Marjorie she was only joking about the painful crystal ball ceremony.

Sarah told Jareth what she had told Marjorie about the crystal ball ceremony, and he found it every bit as funny and promised not to tell them any different.

"Didn't know you had such a mean streak in you, babe? I love it. Turns me on." Jareth told her after dinner. Sarah laughed so hard she nearly choked on her wine.

"Honey, everything turns you on. How long do fae males have such a heightened libido? I mean, you have been going after it since I moved down here with you four years ago, and you have not slowed down at all, just the opposite."

"Oh, only another three thousand years or so, babe, before it'll gradually wears off. Not long at all." Jareth smiled at her and gave her a seductive look.

"Good lord, another three thousand years plus of that", Sarah gasped and finished her full glass with one sip as she grabbed the bottle for a refill.

"Could be four thousand years or even five thousand. I do have high testosterone levels", he cheerfully and proudly added while playing 'C'est si bon' on the piano. Sarah skipped her glass at that point and drank straight out of the bottle.

Moving day had arrived and Sarah waited anxiously for Marjorie's and Mark's arrival. The Goblin Underground Moving Company had already pulled up to the quaint little two spire house and started to unload their furniture. It was all packed sky high on a horynth carriage. Sarah was amazed at the balancing act the goblins had achieved. She winced a little bit when they started to unload as it started to tip precariously, but luckily nothing fell.

"I am so glad Marjorie is not here yet. She would totally freak out at this", Sarah thought to herself.

"Isn't that the truth? She'd be squawking all over the place", Mara replied. Sarah couldn't help but to laugh out loud. She still kept forgetting that Mara basically could read her mind, and at times that was not all such a good thing.

Mara truly knew Sarah's most inner secrets, especially when it came to Jareth. She was the only one who knew that Sarah was totally turned on by Jareth' tight pants and his magic crystal balls. Mara could only shake her head at the thoughts Sarah had a times, but she kept quiet.

"Don't you ever say anything to Jareth", Sarah had warned her one day, "or he's going to get much worse, with even tighter pants and more crystal balls. I can't handle him now as it is." They both had a good laugh.

Sarah directed the goblin movers as best as she could. Finally, Marjorie and Mark showed up with Kaden. Kaden smiled at Sarah and gave her his salute.

"How is marriage life?" Sarah inquired and Kaden blushed.

"Wonderful your highness", he replied with a grin and dematerialized.

Marjorie immediately ran to the goblin movers and started directing the unloading. Sarah and Mark sat on a stone ledge wall by the walkway and watched the whole show while having some water and a beer.

"Aren't you going to help?" Sarah asked Mark with a slight look of disapproval.

"Ah hell, shit no", Mark immediately responded, ''I'll only be in the way. It's best I just stay here and let her handle it. She is very particular on how she likes things handled."

Sarah laughed in agreement. Yes, Marjorie could be very particular and OCD with certain things.

"You truly are a wise man", Sarah replied and toasted him with her water.

"Don't you rather have a beer?" Mark asked and started to dig around in his ice chest he had brought along.

"I wish, but I can't. Official business, the queen can't be seen drinking alcohol in public during an official appearance. That sort of crap", Sarah waved her hand and rolled her eyes.

"Got it your majesty", Mark replied with a grin and took another sip of his beer as Sarah elbowed him into his ribs.

The unloading seemed to proceed rather smoothly as Marjorie kept directing her goblin movers to different rooms.

"When do you think it'll happen?" Mark asked, opening another beer.

"Oh, any minute now", Sarah replied as both stared intensely at the house.

Sure enough, within a minute a huge firecracker went off in the kitchen followed by a few sparklers exiting the windows. Marjorie fled the house screaming and flailing her arms. Another firecracker lit right under her feet as she came running out the front door which made her jump at least six feet into the air.

"Who the hell did that?" she yelled at her goblin movers as they all pointed at each other. Sarah and Mark doubled over from laughing that hard, drawing a disapproving look from Marjorie.

"Seriously?" she yelled at them and turned back to have a talk with her goblin movers.

"Watch this", Mark said, as he pulled a sparkler and firecracker out of his pocket and lit them with his lighter. Sarah could barely contain a laughter. Just as he threw them at Marjorie, Jareth materialized.

Boom, Mark's aim had been perfect and it landed right next to her feet. Again Marjorie was six feet in the air and her goblin movers started cheering and running all over the place tossing more sparklers.

"Oh good, I haven't missed it", Jareth said, took a beer out of the ice chest and sat down by Mark on the stone ledge.

"What's with the beer? You are here on official business, you can't have alcohol." Sarah complained to Jareth. Jareth kept drinking his beer.

"Babe, that only applies to you. You are the virtuous darling of the masses. I, I am the wild, unruly party king of the last three hundred years. They expect this from me, and I cannot let my subjects down."

He toasted Mark after his royal statement and Sarah rolled her eyes.

"Give me a damn beer too then", she demanded. "I am not a goody too shoes queen either."

She sat down next to Jareth and took a sip of her beer he had handed her with a grin and a quick kiss.

As they sat on the stone ledge drinking their beer, Marjorie went after the goblin movers, thinking the last sparkler was theirs. It was priceless and provided a welcoming comedy show.

"Ok, you guys, that is not funny", Marjorie huffed as she came stomping up to them. While Marjorie had a quarrel with Mark about the unruly movers and the firecrackers, Jareth put his arm around Sarah and gave her a passionate kiss, right there on the stone ledge.

"See what I mean?" Mara said to Ceres as they watched it all from a distance in shadow form. "Our masters are making out in public and the other two are fighting. Humans are crazy, absolutely nuts, but I can't help loving them."

Ceres chuckled and nodded his head. Living with Jareth and Sarah sure was more entertaining than living alone in the forest.

It was late in the evening before all the furniture and smaller items had been unpacked and placed in their respective places. Marjorie took a step back and adored her new home.

"I love it", she beamed and Mark agreed putting his arm around her.

"That looks great, sweetheart." He gave her a kiss. "Ok, guys, dinner is on us. Wanna go to the Elven Grill?" He asked as Jareth and Sarah nodded in unison and jumped up to join them.

It seemed like the old days, as the four of them sat at Elven Grill and had a wonderful dinner with lots of laughter. It reminded Sarah of the nights they used to go to Suave, and the Blue Rock Café. She wondered if she would ever see those two places again. She truly hoped so.

This, however, was a new step for all of them on their journey through the Labyrinth Kingdom. She wondered where it would take them, as she joined them again in their conversations and laughter, gently holding Jareth's hand under the table.
