Chapter 2
"Welcome back, Maria." Said the old man sitting in his wheelchair.
"Hello again, Gherman." Maria said flatly.
"Who's this?" Gherman inquired, looking at the child standing nervously next to Maria.
"M-my name's Bell. Bell Cranel." Bell said shifting on his feet, preparing to run in case he has to.
"Well hello, Bell. My name is Gherman." Gherman said, smiling at the boy
Bell did not respond. Mainly because this is one of the men that killed his village, secondly because he didn't like speaking, but he continued to be brave. He clutched Maria's hand tighter.
"Well." Gherman chuckled, "Not much of a talker now is he?"
"No." Maria said, thinking about how long it took for her to get a full sentence out of Bell. "No, he is not."
Bell kept walking down the path with his hands behind his head, he was bored. Maria had gone down to the lower floors and his advisor would worry even more if he were to go any lower.
He admitted that when he had followed the Good Hunter here, he did not expect it to be so… Green. This place was filled with more vibrant colors, unlike Yharnam where there were more browns, reds, and greys than green. He loved it here, it did not carry the stench of blood, that was everywhere in Yharnam. He and the Good Hunter had two very different paths. She had only wanted to awaken from the horrible nightmare, he had sought to end it forever, he also wanted to keep his childhood promise.
He had only just noticed that the entire hallway was silent, usually, there would be some talking from adventurers that were on the floor, but there was nothing, no echos of talking, no footsteps, no clashing of metal, absolutely nothing. Bell knew that something was wrong, the dungeon was never usually this quiet, it was akin to the silence of a graveyard. He turned around to see if there was anyone behind him.
No one was there.
Bell sighed, he continued on his walk towards the entrance of the fifth floor of the dungeon, whistling a long-forgotten lullaby of an infant. He was now on the stairs leading down to the fifth floor, and he still has not seen anyone, he was starting to get worried. He was about halfway through the fifth floor when he saw the people.
"Run!" One of the adventurers screamed at him.
He just sighed in response, he continued to walk to the sixth floor. Slowly the screams faded into silence, and he walked into what the adventurers were running from.
"What a mess." Bell sighed.
Bell stepped into the blood lake that had pooled from the dead adventurers. He looked over to the side where the crunching of bone and the tearing of flesh could be heard.
"You know."
The minotaur looked up from its meal.
"You are such a messy eater."
The minotaur stood up from the floor picking up its massive stone greatsword.
"Oh, are you going to challenge me? Do you not recognize a greater predator?" Bell chuckled.
The Minotaur roared in response.
"Fine. You may be used to being the hunter, but prepare to become the hunted!" Bell snapped his Rykuyo and activating the oil coating the blade.
Aiz was sprinting through the floors following the trail of blood from unlucky adventurers, she was on the sixth floor and still ascending, hopefully, there were not many adventurers on the upper floors today.
She was now nearing the fifth floor and still no sign of the escaped minotaur. "Shit."
She was on the staircase leading up to the fifth floor when she heard the clashing of stone and metal. "Shit."
She was on the fifth floor now and the sounds were only getting louder, she hoped that whoever they were, they were still alive when she arrived.
She was practically on top of the sounds now.
She turned the corner just in time to see the white-haired boy shishkabob himself on the ends of his blades and pull them out.
She stood there shocked at the sight that she has just seen. He had just impaled himself and he was still fighting the minotaur, she could not let this battle continue for much longer. She tensed her legs preparing to run before a hand on her shoulder stopped her from doing so.
The woman put a finger to her lips to keep her from yelling. The woman took her hand off of her shoulder and stood against the wall around the corner on the inside of the room.
"Check." The boy snapped his blades into one and put them in an overhead position.
"Mate!" The boy put his blades down in a quick cut just as the Minotaur attempted to rush him thinking it had an opening. The two halves of the Minotaur slide apart from the left should to the left side of the waist.
Clapping could be heard throughout the floor.
"Good show, Bell!" Maria said proudly, clapping vigorously.
"Oh, you were there?" Bell asked, turning to see her standing against the wall behind him.
"Yes, I was!" Maria said, smiling. "Quite the show if I must say so myself!"
"Well, I only learned from the best." Bell said, smiling at his sister.
"Pfft. So how long have you been keeping that move hidden away?" Maria asked, walking up to her brother, and crossing her arms across her chest.
"Well, since you started teaching it to me." Bell said looking up at his sister.
"Oh, so you've just been feigning incompetence then?" Maria said, looking angry.
"N-no, I just wanted to-"
Maria started to double over laughing, "Oh that one gets you every time!" Maria said wheezing from her fit of laughter.
"Why must you do this to me." Bell sighed.
"Because you are too easy." Maria said starting to breathe normally.
"Umm excuse me but what was that?" An all too familiar voice said.
Bell froze. And then he started to turn to look for the familiar head of golden hair and eyes.
"Umm excuse me but what was that?" Aiz asked.
She watched as 'Bell' turned to stare at her with wide eyes. She has seen those eyes before, but she doesn't remember from where. They seemed familiar, but the more she tried to think of it the more it slipped away, kind of like she was trying to remember a dream.
Wait that was it.
A dream.
She had heard his words before.
"And when you wake up everything will be a bad dream." The man in the wheelchair had told her.
"Good Morning Aiz Wallenstein. Be free from the night." She had opened her eyes to see who was speaking, only to have the sun, shine right in her face.
"Aiz! You're awake!" Lefiya said sitting upright in her chair next to Aiz's bed.
"Leifya? What are you doing in here?" Aiz asked confused.
"Oh, I uh heard you screaming bloody murder in your sleep so I came in to check up on you." Lefiya said.
"Oh." Aiz said.
"Um, so what were you dreaming about?" Lefiya asked.
Aiz only looked confused.
"I don't remember. It only seems like a bad dream now." Aiz said, wracking her brain attempting to remember.
Aiz shook her head discarding her thoughts.
The boy was gone, and so was the woman. The nightmare was long behind her and she had more important things to do, like killing the minotaur that had escaped.
"Wait but wasn't it dead already?" Aiz thought.
"Yeah someone killed it, who was it? Bell?" Aiz whispered the name, it sounded so familiar like she had heard it before but where?
She filed away that train of thought away, for now. Right now she couldn't remember it kept slipping away like a dream.
"Aiz! Damn you run fast!" Bete said panting.
Immediately after he started to say something about a couple of people running away.
The only thing she noted was Whaite-Hair.
Sorry it's a mess. I keep trying to make the -'s between peoples P.O.V.'s and flashbacks but Fanfiction isn't cooperating with me.
