Pecking at the door

FanOfMost asked for a oneshot of Emma and Charming having a scary movie night whilst Snow is out with Red. She scares them coming home. Thought I'd have a wee go at RedSnowing for the shits and giggles so if that bothers you in any way just skip the chapter. Don't worry, it's not something I plan on having regularly in this fic, just thought I'd give it one go :).

Guest: Sorry, but I think that basic idea has been covered enough already.

Fiona2832: sorry, but I only write stories where the main focus is between at least 2 of the characters tagged in the story (plus baby Neal).

That was the last time either of them ventured further into the movie section of the TV than the top five channels. The Birds, they thought. Can't be that bad, they thought. How scary can a film about birds be? They were wrong.

By the end of the movie, they were both too frightened to really move from the sofa. Who knew what was waiting for them in their respective bedrooms? So instead, they both sat on the couch, clinging to it for dear life.

Eventually, Charming knew that he should probably act first. He was the parent, after all.

"So, uh, it's getting pretty late." He croaked. "Maybe we should go to bed?"

"You first." Emma scoffed. She wasn't moving off the safety of the sofa for…years, possibly. Charming tried to give what he hoped was a light-hearted smile. He got up from the couch, feeling all the hairs on the back of his neck stand up.

"See, there's nothing to be frightened of. It was only a mov…argh!" Charming yelled out, jumping in the air slightly as there was a rattling on the door. Was that the birds?! Were they trying to get in to peck Charming and Emma to death?! Emma hid behind a pillow, the known shield against all murderous beasts. Meanwhile, Charming practically dove behind the couch.

"Charming, is everything ok in there?" Red called through the letterbox. Emma and Charming looked at each other, both silently deciding to deny their fear, lest their egos be ruined.

"Fine." Charming said, putting on a smile for his wives. He came and opened the door for them. "Have a good time?"

"Yeah, sorry we forgot our keys. We hoped one of you would still be up." Snow explained as both she and Red kissed Charming. Just then, Red spied Emma on the couch.

"Oh, you're still awake?" She asked. Emma nodded, trying to act casual, but both Red and Snow could spot that something was up.

"What's going on?" Snow quizzed them. "Emma, you look like you've seen a ghost."

"Not a ghost." Emma muttered under her breath. "A murder." Red's brows furrowed together, her wolf hearing allowing her to make out what Emma was saying. She eventually managed to work it out.

"Ah, the Alfred Hitchcock thing." Red announced. "Maybe horror films aren't your thing, huh?" Red added, both her and Snow hiding sniggers over both Emma and Charming's fearful expressions. Both had to resist from making bird noises just for fun. They didn't want to frighten the poor dears.
