Chapter 29

Aftermath and Celebrations

When Jareth walked out of the brewery with Sarah in his arms cheers erupted in the streets of Goblin City as well as on the walls of the castle. The fighting had stopped, and the fae and elven guards raised their bows and swords towards the sky and let out their victory cries.

Jareth pulled a crystal ball out of his pocket and floated it up into the air where it exploded in a cloud of colorful glitter. The blocking spell had been broken, magic had been restored, and with it peace in the kingdom.

As he stood in the street, still holding Sarah in his arms, every fae and elven guard, every goblin soldier, every private person in sight bowed to the king and queen and gave the royal salute. A quiet had fallen over the city.

"I declare the goblork invasion over. Let's rebuild our city stronger and better than ever."

Jareth raised his arm and another earsplitting cheer erupted as he dematerialized with Sarah. Mara and Ceres had followed suit as they finally had caught up with him.

Jareth had teleported straight into the castle's bedroom. He laid Sarah on the bed as she looked exhausted, and she truly was. She had given everything she could over these last six months, and the shock of seeing Keroon looking exactly like Gohl had shaken her to the bone.

Jareth gently stroked her head and waited for her to come around. When she opened her eyes, he sat next to her with his smile and soft eyes.

"Precious, my sweet beloved precious", he said softly and bend over her. His face only inches away from hers as he looked tenderly into her eyes.

"Oh how I have missed you."

He kissed her gently but with a fiery passion, and then he fully embraced her never breaking away from her lips.

Sarah clung on to him and closed her eyes. She wanted this moment to last for as long as possible. How long she had yearned to hold him, kiss him, feel his strong body, and now he was finally with her. She was afraid if she let go he would disappear again.

When she finally did let go of him, he had tears running down his cheeks, tears of happiness. He didn't say anything and only smiled and stroked her hair, but his eyes said it all.

"I love you Jareth", Sarah whispered. "I took your guitar and saxophone into the bunker room and I have this I saved for you too". She pulled out the crystal ball she had taken off his nightstand, the one with the happy birthday message in it.

Jareth looked at her half confused. "Oh babe, I'm not worried about any of my instruments right now. I'm worried only about you. Why are you worried about them?"

"I really don't even know", Sarah said and shrugged her shoulders. "It just came to me."

Jareth chuckled and kissed her again. "You are precious." He took the crystal ball from her hands and placed it on the nightstand. "Thank you for that, babe."

Sarah slowly got up with his help and walked around the room to take it all in before she turned back towards him. She stood there and looked at him in silence, but with a smile of relieve on her face. He looked majestic and powerful, yet tired and worn out as he weakly smiled back at her.

"You look like you could use a bath, and I know I need one. So why don't we take one together?" she suggested, took his hands and pulled off his gloves, and led him to the bathroom.

While the bath was drawing, Jareth gently helped her get out of her dirty and ripped clothes, and she did the same for him. They both looked at each other as if it was for the first time. It had been six month, six month of not knowing if they would ever see each other again.

He gazed at her with his hungry, yet tender eyes and took all of her in as if he was quenching his thirst. His eyes came to rest on her stomach, and after a few moments he gently placed his hands on her belly and a peaceful smile crossed his face. He took her hand and led her to the tub.

When they stepped into the hot bubble bath together they knew this was a new beginning, for them, as well as for the kingdom. Tomorrow there would be a lot of work that needed to be done, but tonight, they only lived for each other as they made tender love for the first time in half a year.

Jareth explored every inch of Sarah's body as if it had been new territory he was discovering and Sarah likewise caressed his body inch by inch. Two hours they spent in the tub making love, not rushing things, fondly touching each other's body and becoming one in body, heart and, soul more than once.

After the bath Jareth gently tugged Sarah in bed and spooned with her, gingerly placing his arm over her body and feeling the baby kick in her belly. He was beyond happy. It was the first time he felt his daughter, and for the rest of the night he kept his arm right over Sarah's stomach where he could feel the baby kick every so often, and his hand in between Sarah's breasts to feel her heartbeat. It was the first night in nearly six month they had a peaceful sleep as they were completely content.

When Sarah woke up the next morning her immediate thought was of Jareth. Had she been dreaming or was it real? She looked over the bed, but he was not there, he also wasn't at the window sill. She was about to panic when he came back with coffee and breakfast he had gotten from the kitchen.

"Hey babe, you're awake. Most of the kitchen staff is still gone, so I had to go get our breakfast myself." He put the tray down and went over to kiss her. Sarah anxiously wrapped her arms tight around his neck and held him close.

"I thought for a moment I had dreamed it all when I didn't see you." She looked scared.

"I'm here babe, and I am not leaving you anytime soon. I already talked to my commanders. Everything is under control, I am not needed. They are going after the last few pockets of resistance and hope to be able to bring everyone home safely later today."

He gently stroked her hair and face and gave her his famous little smirk with his halfcocked head she loved so much.

"I love you precious. You had been on my mind every minute of every day and Faron is my witness. You can ask him. I drove him crazy." Jareth chuckled and handed her a cup of coffee.

Sarah took a sip and closed her eyes. It had been nearly six month since she had last drank some.

"I missed this right here as well", she pointed at her cup and Jareth laughed.

"You and me together." He pulled her blankets back and drew a surprised look from Sarah.

"Time for breakfast, milady, get up", he joked and handed her the silk robe. He had already made a fire in the fireplace and the room was nice warm and cozy. Sarah smiled at him as she put her robe on under the gaze of his hungry eyes who seemed to pierce her soul. Before she closed it up she took his face into her hands and gave him a tender kiss.

"You are still so predictable, honey", she whispered as his hands slit underneath her robe to caress her body.

"You wouldn't want me any other way", he claimed and Sarah agreed. He had a point. She would never want him to change.

They sat down and had a nice breakfast and told each other stories from the past six months, their adventures, their struggles, their lives. Sarah told Jareth all about Krum and he came to see him in a different light. It appeared he qualified for another medal. Once again he was there to save Sarah. That goblin surely was something else.

Sarah listened intently to Jareth' stories about the different pathways, and since she had been given an eidetic memory as well, she could visualize the pathways as he talked about them.

"You and I, we'll visit some of these dimensions someday. We'll go exploring", he said cheerfully with gleaming eyes as he helped himself to the third bagel. He was elated to be back with his beloved Sarah at their castle, and in a few hours the boys would arrive from the Northern forest as well.

"Three bagels?" Sarah asked astound, "Careful honey or you'll gain weight and then you'll have to work it off again". She smiled facetiously.

"I know just the right workout. It involves a partner, can't do it alone. I mean, you could do it alone if you had to, but it's more fun and more effective with a partner. We can start the first workout right after breakfast", he replied and gave her a sheepish grin. Sarah shook her head in disbelief.

"Welcome back, one track mind Jareth", she laughed and threw a piece of her cinnamon roll at him.

"Let me finish my breakfast first, and then I'll think about your workout offer", she finally replied with a slight blush on her face. Jareth chuckled and mumbled "yeah baby" under his breath as he finished his third bagel.

It was nearly noon before they finally left the bedroom. Jareth had wanted to do a 'double workout' and Sarah had accepted the challenge. They almost were late to their own sons' arrival back from the Northern forest.

Marjorie, Aria, Aviana, and the boys all arrived together through the pathway in the castle. Since Marjorie was not able to teleport and Aria and Aviana only could teleport with one child they all had decided to make the one hour walk back early. They were not alone as many others had chosen the same route.

Now that they didn't have to dodge any goblorks it went smooth and fast. Jay and Jeremy actually had fun in the tunnels and kept tossing little crystal balls at each other while they ran around all the other evacuees. Not being able to perform magic the crystals harmlessly burst on the ground and no harm was done.

It was Deimos and Phobos who caused more mayhem. Having two enormous faewolf chase after crystal balls in a narrow tunnel full of anxious people wanting to go home to their families was not the ideal situation. Aria finally put a stop to the crystal balls and stuffed them all in her pocket, much to the dismay of Jay and Jeremy.

By the time they had arrived at the castle and were greeted by Jareth and Sarah, the princes were sound asleep. Nevertheless Jareth hugged his sons he hadn't seen in six month and held them close to his heart. He was beyond happy to have his entire family back together at home in the castle.

Jareth had declared a three day holiday for all of his soldiers who had not seen their loved ones in six month to be with their families. He left the cleanup of the kingdom to his young single guys and some of the civilians who were eager to help out.

Over the next few weeks a deep sweep was conducted across the Labyrinth Kingdom for any residual goblork presence. They roused a handful more in a few places, and after closing off all internal pathways, trapped the rest of the goblorks like rats in a dead end tunnel.

Faron had found Kelan after the battle of Goblin City on the floor in the council building and managed to rush him to Dr. Tartal's office for treatment. It had been touch and go since they hadn't been able to use any magic on Kelan and had to rely solely on conventional healing methods. Thanks to Jareth killing Keroon, the magic had been restored just in time to save Kelan's life.

Kelan was tough, and after a week in the hospital was cleared to go back home. His and the High Goblin Council members cleaned up the council building in the meantime, and by the time Kelan returned to his duties the building looked like new again.

The statues of King Jareth and Queen Sarah had been cleaned by the goblin citizens and re-erected on the square. Caryll had made some repairs to them, and under the threat of beheading by Jareth, he had decided to leave the queen dressed.

"She is not the fucking Venus of Milo, she is your Queen. The clothes stay on", Jareth had yelled at Caryll and even tossed a crystal ball at him when he had once more suggested to pose Sarah in the nude.

Marjorie and Mark had been lucky with Surface Fashion in Elvenwood. Her goblin employee had proven himself very loyal and had repelled several goblork attacks with his firecrackers and Molotov cocktails. The only damage done to the store had been done by one poorly thrown Molotov cocktail that ended up blowing up her store sign. Marjorie decided she could live with that and gave her goblin employee a big raise and a promotion to manager.

The Underground Brewery had sustained some damage from the goblork raid of all his beer. Jareth thanked Mark for his help in the fight against the attackers of the kingdom by fully paying for all restorations and naming him an honorary citizen of Goblin City. He even received the key to the city from the mayor and never had to pay for any meals at any restaurants again.

Jareth also awarded Mark and his goblin militia the Medal of Honor for outstanding military actions in the face of danger, above and beyond their civilian duties at a royal ceremony at the castle.

Within a week of the award reception, both Mark and Marjorie turned fae and were able to defy gravity and walk through solid objects. They still were eluded the magic of teleporting, but Marjorie was happy nevertheless. She floated around her shop for days without coming down to the ground, all the while changing her highlights every few minutes. Sarah couldn't stop laughing for weeks.

Mark kept his short beard since Marjorie had told him she really liked it and that he reminded her of Sean Connery. Mark was the only fae in the entire Underground World with a beard which made him feel quite special once more.

He became quite famous for his beard which helped tremendously with increasing business at the club, and of course Marjorie managed to profit from it with a special t-shirt line and the opening of a souvenir shop called "The Bearded Fae".

Dwarf Town and Faeville had been spared the brunt of the invasion, and Hoggle, who had run to Dwarfs Town to check on Krimble, had stayed with her for six months. After the invasion had ended, and Hoggle had returned to the castle for his duties, he had cheerfully announced his marriage to Krimble.

They had gotten married during the invasion on the day of the winter solstice and Krimble and Hoggle were expecting a little dwarf of their own in the fall. Marjorie and Sarah had thrown Krimble a late bridal shower and Jareth had sprung for a beautiful wedding at The Underground Club.

This New Year's Eve had seen the biggest celebration and fireworks show the Underground World and the Labyrinth Kingdom had ever seen. Even though not everything had been cleaned up or repaired yet and a lot of reconstruction was still ahead for the kingdom, all inhabitants participated in the celebration of the end of the goblork invasion and the coming of the New Year.

The goblins horded all available fireworks, sparklers, and Molotov cocktails they could find and when midnight came around they were all blasted into the sky amidst the dancing lights of the aurora borealis which shone with intense green and reddish lights.

Jareth and Sarah had attended festivities all day long and by the time midnight rolled around they sat at their window sill, her sitting in front of him between his legs leaning back against his chest.

He still wore his solid black outfit with the heavy cape she admired so much as she thought he looked so powerful in it. Since it was quite cold, he had it wrapped around Sarah. He did take off his gloves so he could feel the warmth of her hands and the kicking of the baby in her belly.

"I hope the New Year will be better than what we just went through", Sarah heaved with a big sigh and nudged her head into his chest. "

"It will be, babe", Jareth gently assured her putting his chin on top of her head. "We'll have a new little princess coming in March and the goblorks are gone for good. Now we can start rebuilding our kingdom and make it even better."

He tightened his arms around her body and sighed with contend as he closed his eyes.

"I love you so much, babe. You make me the happiest guy in the universe."

"Here's to a happy 1997", Sarah whispered as the fireworks exploded in the nocturnal sky. They didn't see much of it as they were fully engulfed in a long deep kiss.

So this is it for Book 2. As you probably can tell, Book 3 is already in the works and about one third written. Before I start posting it I want to get a bit further along with my plot as I want to delve into new realms and characters and bring more action to it. In the meantime I have just finished writing The Last Fae and it is now being posted. So please, check it out and let me know how you like this one.
