Chapter 10: Supernatural Being
Nessie's POV
I busted out in laughter. I was sure that he was telling some kind of joke. When my laughter faded though I saw the serious look on his face. He wasn't joking around. He really believed the words that had just come out of his mouth.
"That was a joke right? Because there's no such thing as vampires,"
He looked confused and then horrified. "Oh my God you really don't know do you? You were raised by humans weren't you?"
"Yes I was raised by humans as opposed to what though? Apes?" I snickered.
He shook his head. "Can't you tell that I'm different Nessie? I know that you're different. I can smell it. Your scent is a mixture of human and vampire. You should be able to smell that same mixture in me,"
"David I really don't know what you're talking about. There is no such thing as vampires or half vampires. That's all just fiction. It's fantasy. That stuff is not real,'
"Yes it is Nessie it is very real. Come here for a second I want to show you something,"
I hesitated but then gave in and walked over to him. "I want you to grab this bar right here and squeeze it as tightly as you can," I didn't know why I was doing what he wanted. This was insane after all. I shouldn't even be entertaining these crazy delusions of his. I wrapped my fingers around the bar and squeezed as hard as I could. I exerted as much effort as I could. So much so that I was making myself sweat. My hand felt like it would have a bruise later on. I released the bar. Nothing had happened.
"Nothing happened,"
"Hmm how odd. Wait a minute I think I know what the problem is. You haven't had a single drop of blood in years. That's probably why you couldn't smell that I wasn't entirely human. That's why you're not that strong or fast. I'm assuming your senses such as eyesight and hearing are average right?"
"Last time I checked I had 20/20 vision in each eye," I said a tad bit defensively.
"Your vision, your hearing, and your sense of smell should be so much stronger than they are right now,"
"You're crazy,"
"Look Nessie watch this," I watched him grab ahold of that very same bar that I had just been holding a minute or so prior. He didn't exert any effort but when he let go the bar was no longer recognizable. It was bent and twisted. He'd bent metal. I was in a state of complete and utter shock.
"How?"
He smiled. "Now you see? I'm stronger than the strongest human. I'm faster than the fastest human. You would be to if it weren't for the complete lack of blood from your diet. But we can fix that once we get out of here,"
"I don't understand,"
"It must be a lot to take in. Maybe that's why your family hadn't told you yet. I grew up with my biological parents so I've known all of my life. My mom was human when she had me and my father was a vampire. I haven't spoken to my parents in awhile though,"
"You haven't? Why not?"
"They were angry when they found out that I had gotten a human girl pregnant. We had a big fight over it and then they never spoke to me again. They don't even know they have a granddaughter,"
"So if this vampire nonsense is actually true then your daughter would be one third vampire and three fourths human?"
"Yes that is true however her vampire genes are almost as strong as my own. But I started feeding her blood as soon as I got full custody of her. I imagine your son's vampire genes would be just as strong if you started feeding him blood,"
I had a hard time wrapping my mind around everything that he was saying. I'd known that the Cullens were different. Their extremely pale complexion, gold eyes, and ice cold skin was enough to proof that. Add that to the fact that they never ate and never seemed to sleep. Maybe there was some truth to what he was saying. As crazy as it seemed.
"You know what? We're breaking out of here tonight. Then I'm going to take you to a source of blood. Once you start drinking blood I'm sure that your vampire side will come back stronger than ever. After that we'll find out where our babies were taken,"
"How are we going to break out?"
"Just follow my lead,"
I really didn't know what David was planning until it was night time. "Climb on my back," he said. I was very confused but I did as he said. "You might want to close your eyes also," I closed them tight. I heard the sound of glass shattering and for a second it felt like we were flying.
I opened my eyes when he landed. I was shocked to see Carlisle's car parked in the parking lot of the police station. Carlisle was here. What was he doing here? I didn't get a chance to really think about it before David ran. We were going so fast that everything looked like one dizzying blur. I felt like I was going to be sick so I closed my eyes.
"It's okay Nessie you can open your eyes now,"
I opened my eyes and found myself in an unfamiliar part of the city. "Where are we?"
"We're still in Spokane if that's what your asking. Anyways I think I might have found the perfect source of blood for you,"
"You have?" I was starting to really believe what David was saying now. First his strength now his speed.
"Yes its a man. He's been attacked. Probably stabbed. Either way he's weak and will probably die anyway. It's perfect for your first time. Follow me,"
I followed him down to the next block. Sure enough there was a man lying there all alone. Screaming in pain. He was dying. Unlike David I couldn't smell his blood though. But I did feel a strange pull toward it. "You go ahead. I'm going to leave because the smell is driving me crazy. I'll be back in five minutes though. You should be done by then,"
I approached the man slowly. Blood was flowing from what looked like two stab sounds. This was crazy. At least that's what I told myself. There was a small part of my brain that compelled me to drink the blood. I couldn't ignore it. I leaned down over the man and licked the blood.
It tasted better than anything I could have ever imagined. My body tingled with pleasure. More. I needed more. My teeth sliced into his flesh like a knife sliced into butter. I began to drink. Blood was the sweetest most mouth-watering delicious thing that I had ever tasted in my entire life. The more I drank the stronger I felt. I could feel the strength in my arms, my legs, and every single muscle in my body. There were other changes happening at the same time. My vision was getting even clearer. I could see clearly now even in the dark. My hearing was getting stronger. I could now hear the man's heart racing. My sense of smell was getting stronger.
I could hear that the man's pulse was getting weaker. As he got weaker and weaker I got stronger and stronger. I needed his blood like I needed air to breathe and food to eat. "Renesmee stop!" I heard a voice scream frantically. My brain barely registered the presence of another person.
Ice cold hands grabbed me and shook me. "Nessie stop!" I didn't though. I kept on drinking. "Renesmee you have to stop! You're killing him!"
Carlisle's frantic voice broke through my bloodlust filled mind. I looked up and saw Carlisle's panic struck face. I still couldn't let go though.
"Nessie if you kill him you will regret it for the rest of your life. Trust me on this. We can teach you a better way. But you have to listen to me. Let him go,"
I couldn't ignore Carlisle anymore. It was extremely hard to do. Every cell in my body was compelling me to continue drinking. Instead I opened my mouth and released the man.
