A storm passes by
Ambrace asked for a oneshot of a natural disaster happening in Storybrooke.
My thoughts go out to all those affected by all the latest disasters x
It was never something that happened in the Enchanted Forest. Curses, sure, but never hurricanes. As such, it wasn't something Regina had really equipped the town for when she brought them over to Maine. So when one came blowing over to them, the town went into a frenzy to do their best to prepare.
Makeshift emergency shelters were set up in the town hall and the school. Those who had any kind of basement took in as many of their fellow townsfolk as they could. Even Regina, who was feeling particularly guilty, sealed off the magic in her vault and gave it to one of the families to use. Aside from that, people bunkered down in the school or the town hall and just waited for the storm to pass. All except the dedicated police force that was Charming and Emma. They diligently stayed out in the station, going out when it was safe to make sure there was nobody locked out in the storm. All while Snow watched over Henry and Neal from the school with no way to contact her husband or daughter. She was doing her best to reassure the boys and maintain a calm presence. All the while she was panicking on the inside for her husband and baby girl's safety. She knew they had a job to do, but they were still her family first.
Charming had promised Snow he would come back in one piece, and that he would make sure Emma did too. As such, he was keeping Emma indoors as much as possible (however much it was driving her crazy).
The people of Storybrooke were lucky. The hurricane was nowhere near full strength by the time it reached them. Which was just as well, seeing as (as they didn't officially exist) they didn't receive any government aid. Some houses were broken down, some minor flooding, but nothing a little magic couldn't fix. They were just grateful they all made it out with their lives. They knew not everyone in this realm who went through similar events got so fortunate as they all did, and for that, they would be forever grateful.
