It has taken a few days but the gaang has finally settled in at the Southern Water Tribe. The past week Sokka and Katara have spent a lot of time catching up with their family after being separated for so long. Everyone had been relaxing and enjoy their time off. Well that is everyone besides Toph.

"Can we please do something that does not involve us being outside all day? I can't see a thing out in the snow with these shoes on." Toph protested to the group as they walked to market in search of food for dinner.

"Come on Toph it's not that bad." Sokka said while nudging his elbow towards the young earth bender.

Toph attempted to roll her eyes while saying "of course you would say that! You keep taking advantage of my inability to see and won't stop throwing snow balls at me!"

Katara sensing the rising tension between them, spoke up before a fight occurred in front of the whole village. "Okay I think we all just need to take a break from one another before we rip each other's heads off."

"I agree. We should all take the day to do something fun and then meet up for dinner" Suki suggested.

Everyone seemed pleased by this plan besides Toph. Knowing that the two couples would be busy with each other all day, Toph knew that she would have nothing to do besides sit and wait for them to come back.

"Wait what am I suppose to do when you four love birds are off with each other all day?" exclaimed Toph.

Katara thought about this for a minute before an idea popped into her head. "I was going to suggest that Suki, Toph, and I spend the afternoon together but after what happened last time we left you guys alone I don't think that's the smartest idea."

"Hey I take offense to that comment! We're not that bad together." Sokka exclaimed while pointing a finger at his sister.

"Yeah right snoozles. Says the guy who thought it was a smart idea to write a letter saying it came from a blind girl." said Toph, making the rest of them laugh at this memory from their travels in the fire nation during the war.

"I'll try to keep Sokka out of trouble while you guys have fun today." Aang said jokingly while throwing his arms over Sokka's shoulder and smiling at Katara.

The rest of the afternoon was spent with the three girls wandering amongst the little shops within the village. Katara was very excited to show them authentic water tribe items, so she made sure to drag them into a few clothing stores. Toph was not necessarily a fan of this but she did it to please Katara.

While the young woman spent the afternoon catching up with one another Aang convinced Sokka into putting their energy towards doing something nice for everyone. This resulted in them picking out supplies for the dinner they all would have together later.

When the girls returned back from their day out they were pleasantly surprised to see what the two boys had done during their extra time. After Katara cooked the food that was bought they all sat down to enjoy dinner together. The rest of the joyous night was spent by storytelling which filled the house with laughter.

After what seemed like hours, Katara assured them that it was getting late and that they should call it a night. Suki, Sokka, and Toph quietly groaned while reluctantly getting up to walk towards their rooms.

"Thank you again for tonight. It was really sweet of you and Sokka to get the supplies today. A little strange and unexpected but very sweet." said a sincere Katara while finishing up the dishes.

Aang smiled slightly before responding with "no need to thank me. I was just fulfilling my promise to keep Sokka out of trouble for the day."

Katara chuckled at her boyfriend's silliness while walking over closer to him after finishing the dishes.

Catching the young avatar off guard, Katara pulled him into a hug. He was slightly stunned by this abrupt action but quickly melted into the hug and wrapped his arms around her gentle frame.

Hugging Aang offered Katara a sense of home wherever they were. Of course they were technically at her home in the south at the moment, but even on their travels Katara feels just as home as she is here as when she is in Aang's arms.

Aang definitely feels the same way towards Katara. He feels as if it is impossible for someone to understand him the way Katara gets him. Even without saying a single word to each other the two can tell what the other is feeling just by simply looking at each other. Their bond is definitely something beyond special for the both of them, which they would never plan on breaking.

After a few minutes of standing in silence embraced in each other's arms Katara pulled away slightly and said "It's been a long day. I'm gonna head in for the night."

Aang nodded at this before leaning in to place a gentle, loving kiss on Katara's forehead.

"Goodnight sweetie" Aang said quietly.

Katara began to walk away but before she was out of his eyesight she turned around. "I love you." whispered Katara before heading into her room.

"I love you too." replied the air bender not knowing if she even heard him.

Aang danced his way towards his room thinking about his wonderful girlfriend. That night he planned on dreaming about her in all her glory, but turns out destiny had something else planned.

Shortly after closing his eyes Aang was awoken by the sound of someone talking to him.

"Aang it's good to see you again." said a tall man standing in front of the young boy.

Confused as to who would be talking to him in his sleep, Aang realized there is only one person it could be.

"Roku? Why are you trying to talking to me while I'm asleep?" asked the confused young boy as he looked up to see his previous life standing before him.

"I'm sorry to disturb you Aang but I have come to you with an important message."

"Important message? What's going on?" asked Aang who was becoming more confused by the minute.

"It's not exactly a message but more of a warning." confessed Roku.

This caught Aang's attention, but he remained quiet allowing Roku to continue.

"It has come to my attention that you are to be traveling back to Ba Sing Se soon. Is that correct?" asked Roku.

"Yes, my friends and I are leaving in about a week." responded Aang.

Roku sighed slightly before continuing. "Aang, a danger awaits you there. As a mentor to you I recommend you leave your friends behind in order for their safety."

Aang stunned at this remark quickly said "but Roku if I'm in danger wouldn't it be wise to have them there with me for whatever this danger is?" After pausing for a second Aang added on "What exactly is this "danger"? Should I be worried?"

"I'm not exactly sure who it is Aang but I will tell you that it would not be wise of you to bring those you care about. You already have friends in Ba Sing Se who would be able to help you if need be." Roku advised.

Taking a second to process all of this, Aang looked down towards his feet. He normally admired Roku and was very grateful for his advice, but this seemed very strange for Roku to warn him of something like this. It must be something serious if Roku felt the need to contact him.

"Thank you Roku." Aang said while bowing towards his previous life. Roku then disappeared while Aang jolted awake.

Aang frantically looked around the room in order to come to his senses before leaning back on the bed. He knew that he wouldn't be able to fall back asleep that night after what Roku said to him.

"What if this threat is something to be taken seriously? I mean it must be serious if it caused Roku to warn me, right?" Aang thought to himself.

There was no way of knowing how serious this threat actually is at the time being. Aang thought about all the dangerous people he fought against during his travels. Mostly all the villains he encountered were very powerful, so what made this one so different?

Roku was also aware that Aang's friends accompanied him during his battles against these past villains, so why was he advising him to leave them behind? Their safety was something that was always on Aang's mind, but his friends always insisted that they would fight along with him.

The worst part of all of this was now knowing how Katara would react to Aang's sudden protest of having her stay behind. Katara has consistently taken care of and protected Aang. After his fall in Ba Sing Se she has been extra protective of him, making sure he is safe wherever he goes. Certainly he could not expect Katara to let him go by himself to confront whatever danger lies ahead.

As Aang could not sleep the rest of the night he tried to figure out what to tell his friends. He could tell them the truth about what Roku warned him about but they would deny his recommendation to stay here and would demand to go with him. If he made up a reason to leave them behind would they be furious when they found out the truth?

Certainly Aang knew that his friends were very capable of fighting and protecting themselves, but he would not be able to live with himself if one of them got hurt or something even worse happened.

While Aang was deep in his thoughts there was suddenly a knock on the door, breaking him from his train of thought. Aang rose from the bed and looked out the window to see the sun has been up for a few hours now without his prior notice.

"Aang, are you awake? You're normally up by now so I'm just making sure you're okay." said a sweet, calming voice from the other side of the door.

Aang immediately knew who this voice belonged to and arose from the bed. Walking towards the door, he slowly opened it to see a slightly worried looking Katara.

In an attempt to calm her nerves Aang offers her a slight smile and opens the door more, offering her room to walk in.

Katara sat on the bed and motioned for Aang to join her. He accepted and slowly walked over towards the bed, his eyes never leaving the floor. He was unaware of what to tell Katara about his talk with Roku and didn't want to hurt her in the process.

As Aang sat on the bed Katara reached her hand towards Aang's, offering a sign of compassion. "Is something wrong Aang? You know you can always tell me when something is bothering you." said Katara.

Aang sighed lightly before allowing his eyes to finally meet Katara's. "I know. I just don't know if you would want to hear it."

"Aang what are you talking about? Your problems are my problems too. Of course I want to hear about it." said an astonished Katara. She was a little taken back by this comment but waited to see what the issue was.

Knowing that he could not keep this a secret from her for much longer, Aang said "Roku came to me in a dream last night. It seemed pretty serious because I didn't call for him."

"What did he say to you?" asked Katara wanting to know more of the matter.

Aang turned away slightly knowing that this next part would hurt her. "He told me about some danger that awaits me in Ba Sing Se."

Stunned and confused as to who exactly was after him now, Katara spoke up "well whoever is trying to hurt you has another thing coming. At least we'll be there to protect you Aang. I wouldn't be too worried about it."

"That's the problem. He told me all of my friends should stay here while I go back to Ba Sing Se." Aang hesitated to add this next part but forced himself to say "that includes leaving you here too."

Aang turned back towards Katara to see hurt in her eyes. Her normal bright, ocean blue eyes were now dull and filled with tears. Shock was written all over her face. Clearly she did not expect Aang to say this, but quickly asked him more questions in order to see if he wanted to listen to Roku's advice.

"Well you're not going to listen to him, right? We've always been by your side in every battle and we're certainly not going to stop anytime soon." said Katara determined to changed his mind.

Aang sadly said "If I'm being honest I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do. On one hand I know that whoever is causing this threat can't take all of us down but on the other I can't risk any of you getting hurt trying to protect me. I would never be able to forgive myself if you got hurt Katara."

"Aang this is ridiculous. We've fought some of the world's most powerful benders. I think we can take whoever this is." Katara said with a slight chuckle in her voice in attempt to lighten the mood.

"We keep saying "whoever this is" but that's exactly my issue with this situation. We don't know who it is. Clearly it's someone very important if Roku was the one to warn me about it."

A few tears made their way down her face. Katara said "I don't care who it is Aang. I cannot loose you again. I can't and I won't. It's as simple as that. I'm going with you whether you like it or not."

Getting slightly frustrated with her determination, Aang sighs and throws his hands over his face in an attempt to calm himself down before continuing. "Katara you don't understand I -"

"No Aang YOU don't understand." says an irritated Katara, cutting him off. "I've watched you get hurt so badly you almost died. You were this close to dying in my arms Aang. I don't think you understand the severity of this situation. I can't go through loosing you again, especially if I'm not there." confesses Katara through silent sobs.

This was exactly what Aang wanted to avoid when confronting Katara about his decision to leave her behind. He knew she would put up a fight, but it was best for her safety that she stayed behind. Hurting Katara to this extent was never his intention, which caused him to feel immense guilt over the whole situation.

"Fine." Aang mutters in an attempt to end the argument. Altercations to this degree was something Aang always tried to avoid, so ending it as soon as possible seemed what was best for them.

Taken back by this, Katara scoffs before saying "fine? That's really where you're going to try to end this? I thought we were suppose to be there for each other and try to work out our differences."

Calming himself down, Aang took a second to breathe before suggesting "maybe we should talk about this later once we've cleared our heads."

Katara thought about this but agreed that the two needed to take some time to calm down before finishing this discussion. She nodded towards the young air bender before getting up, making her way towards the door.

Katara hesitated before opening the door and turned back around to say "I'm sorry I care so much about you Aang. I know it must be difficult when someone is willing to sacrifice their own safety in order to protect you."

She then left before Aang had the chance to respond. Walking right back into her room, Katara slammed the door shut not wanting to talk to anyone else for a while.

Just as the door shut Momo came flying through the window and landed on Aang's shoulder. He must've heard the two arguing because it is clear that he was trying to comfort Aang through him licking his face.

Leaning back on the bed, Aang threw his hands up in disbelief of what just happened. "I'm an idiot Momo."
