True love

Just one of my own :). *six B spoilers!* (Can I get an Aussie update please?) We never really delved deeper into Emma finding out that being a child of true love means that, despite not being raised by them, she shares true love with both her parents.

Emma sat quietly on the edge of her parents' bed. To the untrained eye, it might look like she was just keeping an especially close eye on her baby brother, but Snow knew better. She knew that look on Emma's face, and she also had a good idea what it was about. Snow squeezed Charming's hand gently to get his attention. When he was looking at her, Snow gestured towards Emma on the bed. Charming understood. He gently pressed his lips against the side of Snow's head before letting her get up and walk over to their bed. Snow sat down on the other side of the bed.

"I should have told you about seeing you as a little girl long ago." Snow said quietly. "You had a right to know." Snow looked down, even thinking about it paining her. "It was one of the most painful decisions I ever made." Snow added. "Putting everyone else above us…above you. Emma, you deserved better than that. If I had known how awful your life had been, how much worse it would get before you found us, I would have jumped straight through that door and never looked back…"

"That's not what I'm thinking about." Emma said quietly, still looking at Neal. There was no point in denying she was thinking about something, her mom clearly knew that much. Snow stayed quiet and gave Emma a chance to explain herself. "You did what you had to do. I get that, I really do. Besides, if you hadn't, I never would have had Henry. My life was worth him." Emma sighed, he fingers gripping tightly to the quilt. "You were only able to use that pixie dust to find me because apparently we share true love. You, dad and me." Snow smiled lightly. Was that what had her daughter so deep in thought.

"Does that surprise you?" Snow asked. Emma didn't respond. "You and Henry share true love. So do Henry and Regina. Why would it surprise you that we do as well?" Emma shrugged.

"I don't know. It's just different." Emma answered her. "Regina raised Henry. I might not have raised him, but I at least get a hand in raising him now. I only realised for myself that I shared true love with him when I thought he was dead. You hadn't seen me since I was a newborn, yet it still worked." Emma added. Snow reached across and placed her hand on top of Emma's.

"Because, no matter where you were in the world, you were ours." Snow told her. "From the second we knew we were going to have you, true love began. We knew we would do whatever we had to in order to keep you safe. That's a bond that could never be broken, even if we were separated for a while." Snow took Emma's face in her hand and made Emma look at her. "Whatever happens, we'll keep that promise we made when we knew you were coming into the world. No curse, no villain, no fairy will stop us from keeping that promise. Do you understand, Emma?" Snow asked. Emma nodded, scooting over and resting her head against her mom's shoulder. Snow pressed a small kiss to the top of Emma's head.

"I just never really thought about it before." Emma said quietly. "Sharing true love with someone other than Henry. I didn't think it was ever on the cards for me. Kinda weird to find out I've always had two people I share it with. I mean, I accepted I was the child of true love, but I didn't realise that meant I got true love in return." Snow pulled Emma into a hug.

"Well, you do." Snow told her. "And you always have, always will."
