Guest in the barn
Tina asked for a oneshot of Neal thinking that Charming is cheating on Snow because he constantly sees her talking to some woman. He lets her stay in the barn. Neal gets mad and yells at Charming, saying that he hates him. Charming explains that he would never cheat on Snow. That she is a friend of both of theirs who has fallen on hard times. Neal apologises and tells Charming that he really does love him.
Thanks for all the requests yesterday guys, loving it! 3
I couldn't believe my eyes. What was dad doing?! Him and mom were the original fairytale couple. Sure, sometimes I found it gross, or embarrassing even, when they got all mushy in front of me or my friends, but I'd take having to see them kiss every day outside of seeing my dad with another woman.
I started to notice something was up a few days ago. I just had a weird feeling. Then later that day, I came home at break to grab my gym kit, and that's when I saw it. Dad, talking at the front gate with some woman I had never seen before. They hugged, and she left. I didn't like that. I didn't like that one bit. I liked it even less when I saw the same woman in the family barn earlier today. That was it. Dad was not bringing in some…floozy and hiding her right under mom's nose. This ended today.
I stomped into the kitchen, where I found dad making coffee. Probably for him and his "guest". He turned when he heard me coming.
"Hey buddy." He said, smiling. He frowned when he saw I wasn't smiling back. "You ok, son?"
"What do you think, dad?" I snapped. Dad frowned, setting down the kettle.
"Ok, clearly not." He said. He leaned against the counter. "So let's talk about it."
"What is there to talk about?! I've seen her! How could you? Right under our noses? Mom is going to be so upset when she finds out! I hate you! I never thought you'd betray her like this!" I screamed, red hot tears coming out of my eyes. I couldn't even see my dad as he came over and placed a calming hand on my shoulder. I wrenched my arm back. "Don't!" I demanded. I didn't want him to touch me. I didn't want him anywhere near me.
"I assume you are talking about our guest in the barn?" He asked.
"No shit, Sherlock." I spat.
"Neal Leopold, I know you are angry, but I won't take bad language in this household. Especially when you're a mile off." He warned me. I stopped. I hastily wiped my eyes with my sleeve. I waited for a further explanation.
"Neal, of course I would never betray you, or your mother. Do you really think I could ever love another woman?" He asked. I stayed silent. That is exactly what I had thought. Dad sighed. "Neal, the woman in the barn is a friend of both your mother and I's. Your mom is fully aware she's going to be staying there for a little while. She set up her camp bed herself. It was just easier for me to be here to settle her in since your mom's at school. She's fallen on some hard times. We're helping her get back on her feet. We offered her the guest room, but she said she would be too embarrassed, so we compromised. She asked us not to mention anything to you, again, because she would be embarrassed. We had hoped you wouldn't notice her, since she wouldn't be coming into the main house. Maybe we should have told you discreetly though." Dad admitted. I felt awful now. How could I be so stupid? When had I ever thought before that my dad could cheat on my mom? Like I had said, they were the perfect fairytale couple. Much as it grossed me out sometimes. I moved some dirt around with my shoe.
"I guess I jumped to conclusions." I admitted quietly. "I'm sorry dad…and I don't hate you. I could never hate you, not really. I love you." My dad came over and pulled me into a hug.
"Don't mention it, son. Although see this as a learning curve. Don't jump in and act first. Always find out all the information you need before making any decisions." Dad reminded me. I nodded. He was right, I should have done some investigating before coming in and yelling at him. Then I would have realised what an ass I was being and not have embarrassed myself.
