Patricia stared at the fruit basket in front of her. Breakfast had been going on for about fifteen minutes now, and Eddie was still nowhere to be seen after last night. Patricia wasn't normally one to worry too much about other people's whereabouts, but this time it felt different. She liked Eddie, but she didn't like that he made her feel all mushy and gushy inside. It made her want to both scream and vomit at the same time.

"Hey Yacker," Eddie appeared reaching over her to grab an apple from the basket.

"Hi," she barely got out as she watched him sit down across from her.

Eddie took a massive bite out of the apple.

"So, uh, Eddie," she said.

Eddie met her eyes. "Sup?" He asked with pieces of half chewed apple rolling around in his mouth.

Patricia took a deep breath.

"So, about last night," she started just as Mara walked in the room and sat down at the table.

"Oh Eddie, I need that article you were assigned last week by the end of today, don't forget," Mara said pouring milk into a glass.

"Oh yeah, don't worry, I got it covered," Eddie said standing up.

"Well, I gotta run so I'll catch up with you guys later," he said pulling his backpack over his shoulder.

"Hey, wait up," Patricia said rising from the table herself.

Eddie shrugged as they exited the room together. They moved toward the door as Patricia fiddled with the end of her uniform skirt and hesitated before exiting.

Patricia took another deep breath.

"So Eddie, I've been meaning to tell you that I uh.." Patricia hesitated.

Eddie stopped. "You…?"

"I just uh, really appreciate you," Patricia said.

Eddie laughed as his eyebrows raised.

"You appreciate me, huh?" He asked crossing his arms and slouched, leaning against the door frame.

Patricia's eyes fell to the floor.

"Listen, Weasel, I'm trying to be sincere here," Patricia said slightly irritated.

"Sincere, huh? Well," he chuckled again. "You're doing a great job. The 'weasel' is a really nice touch. Please continue," Eddie said with a smirk and sarcasm dripping from his lips.

Patricia sighed and scrunched her eyebrows at him.

Eddie just chucked.

"Don't worry Yacker," he said turning on his heel and walking out the door.

He glanced back at her over his shoulder.

"I certainly don't hate you, either."
