The middle ages of Europe housed many extraordinary individuals. It had to since it was a time of upheavals of both man and religion. Armies clashed and warriors made names for themselves. Some of which would go down forever in both history and legend. This is a story of one such hero. A story of which was never told but kept close to heart, yet still none the less important.

In the countryside were a band of heroes led by the brave Charlemagne. They had fought armies, heathens, monsters, and all sorts of creatures that plagued Europe. Some ferocious, others misunderstood. It was their holy mission to spread their faith and to safeguard the people of the realm. Charlemagne took that seriously although he and his gang were a bit cooky as it were. Madness long having seemed into their minds after facing eldritch creatures or just constant battles. Yet it never dampered their spirits or wavered their faith. They were good men, even if they were insane.

None more so than the knight Astolfo. He raced along with his fellow knights as they made their way to their destination. Their horses were swift. They had to be or else they would have failed in several missions in previous years. Their horses would not fail this time. For this time they were facing a powerful rogue mage. Many Christians didn't really care for mages, despising them really. The attitude of mages in general did nothing to assuage this hatred. Even the knights didn't care much for them, except of course Astolfo. That was more due to him finding everything fun and interesting really. That and there plenty of cute mage women to flirt and sleep with. Which of course he did.

Said insane knight raced alongside his trusted king, Charlemagne. Their appearances couldn't be any more different. Charlemagne was a roguish man with black and white hair and blue eyes. His attire consisted mainly of a black and white tunic with blue accents, black pants, thigh-high armored boots, and a short white cape with a black edge. Aside from his boots, his left arm has a gauntlet, and he wears a set of faulds at his waist. A sword scabbard hangs at his left side, and red marks coat his right gloved arm. He held himself up as a beloved standard of what a knight was.

Astolfo on the other hand was a knight of… rather strange stature. He was petite with pinkish hair that was held in a ponytail braid. Black ribbons were entwined in it making the look cuter. Cute was the perfect word to describe him as he wore a black and gold style that was rather more feminine given it ended in a skirt and leggings. His cape however did give him a bit more flair to his visage to stand out and be a bit more cool. Although said cape would sometimes be a hindrance or ruin some appearances. It was still a decent effort on his part.

"So my kingly Emperor," Astolfo spoke up to the famed Charlemagne, "What's the plan this time? Sneaking in? Charging through their lines? Breaking their bones with our horses?"

"More of the last two really," Charlemagne said, "From what we know, the mage shouldn't have too many defenses and we're all qualified to take him down here and now. He just started setting up and has been on the move too much to avoid our forces. He might be desperate to pull off some spell or something to gain some advantage so he'll be a bit weak. This is the perfect time to strike."

"Or this is a trap," Astolfo chuckled, "I know all about those. Always fun to set them off and escape. Then the bad guys go 'What? Impossible. No one could ever escape my epic trap'."

Charlemagne and the other knights laughed. They knew that feeling all too well given they've survived enough ambushes and the likes. Villains were sure full of themselves to the point it could be silly sometimes. Still fun though and it was their duty to stop them.

Of course part of this was the fact that this wasn't their first time hunting mages. Some mages would get their hands dirty in the realm of mortals for power and profit. The mages would usually take care of their own troublemakers, it fell to the lap of the nobles of the land quite often. So they had honed their skills with mages. When Charlemagne said a mage would do something, they knew he was on point.

The mage they were hunting was no different. Vauquelin of the family Fiere. He was a talented mage of a family who specialized in combining the elements in advanced ways. Most of them were harmless. Not even notable in the mage world, yet he was the exception. His power was great and he used his family's gifts to amass even more of it. He had started to push around other mages and nobles of the land. That was fine in of itself. Most nobles and mages did that when they had the power to back up their pursuits. Neither side were innocent after all.

What changed this attitude towards him was the style of experiments he was performing. The mages were getting wary of him and people were starting to disappear. That was never a good sign. He had even struck a few notable knights and a few mages who got in his way. His power had started to grow faster then anticipated and they were wary of him. No, they wanted him gone. So Charlemagne took it upon himself to take his best knights and solve this crisis to save their country and Europe in its entirety.

They wouldn't be deterred by whatever they faced in this coming adventure. Even if it was a dragon at the gates, they would charge forward and take it down. Just like they always did. They had each other. The Knights of Charlemagne were unbreakable. They would show this rogue mage that fact today and hopefully show any evildoers to keep themselves hidden in the future.

Inside his temporary fortress, Vauquelin laughed. It was a vile laugh, one given out by the most heinous of individuals. The man was rather large, standing at about seven feet high. He was covered in armor that had gems strewn all about its silver base color. His large gloves crackled with lightning that changed colors as though different elements ran through them. On his back were two large pistons that moved up and down, keeping the suit functioning. The Frenchman had a large curly moustache that seemed well taken care of.

"Finally," the rogue mage shouted more to himself than to the minions running around behind him. "My work is nearly complete. Soon France will kneel before my might."

Before him was a large swirling dome. It seemed to shimmer and sparkle as though bending and warping everything around it as it moved. That was an effect but it wasn't the main one. That was something Vauquelin was eager to use. The one thing that could give him the power to conquer France as the rightful ruler and not some upstart knight or another mage. He alone was worthy. He would show them all too soon.

That's of course when one of his minions came rushing in. Peasants were given some fine armor and weapons to serve him. That was what he had to use. Mercenaries. He hated them honestly. They did not know the touch of magic and were only motivated by greed. He was motivated by power. His right to rule. That was just. They were despicable but they were needed tools he would use for the time being.

"My Lord," he spoke up, "Charlemagne and his knights are here."

"This soon?" Vauquelin snarled. Energy seeped out around him. Fire. Ice. Wind. Everything. He had mastered the elements, infusing them into gems to readily use through his armored machine. It gave him access to all sorts of powers that had led him here. He would not see some upstart knights get in his way of greatness. "Kill them. Stop them. I don't care how you do it. Just make sure they don't make it here."

"Yes, my lord." The mercenary said in panic and rushed out of the room.

The rogue mage turned back to his 'machine', "No one will stop me. No one! I will accomplish my mission and rule these lands as I see fit. No knight or peasants or whatever is thrown my way will stop me."

In another land. In another time, a young, blond haired girl was about to awaken. She yawned as she smacked her lips a few times. Her eyes groggily opened up as she took in her room. It was like any other Japanese girl's room her age had. Nothing too special. In fact, had you just seen her here and now, you'd think she was an ordinary japanese teenager. You would be forgiven for thinking that of course.

The teenage girl got out of her bed and made her way to the bathroom. She had to prepare for school of course. A white cat with a crescent moon mark on his forehead watched her match into the bathroom and shook his head before laying back down into the sheets. The girl he stayed with was certainly a strange one but that was life. You couldn't choose who you had to stay with. Well, that at least applied to him and his situation. It certainly wasn't normal by any means of the word.

The blonde girl finally stepped out of the bathroom in her school clothes and smiled, "I'm ready for learning, Artemis. As they say, the early cat catches the books."

"It's the early bird catches the worm," the cat spoke up with a deadpan stare.

"Oh right," the girl chuckled nervously and scratched her head.

Well as one would wonder, why was she not surprised her cat could talk. Indeed, most normal people would be freaking out by now. She was by no means an ordinary girl. She was Minako Aino. A youthful girl who had many names to herself to cover her real one. Sailor V was her first but now she was known by another name.

She was none other than Sailor Venus, the first of the sailor scouts to awaken and use their powers for good, justice, and love. Who are the Sailor Scouts? They were a magical band of girls who used their powers to defeat the forces of evil who plagued the world. For the most part though, she only used her powers to beat up thugs or small time criminals. It's all she had to face when she started but when she came into contact with the other scouts, things turned serious.

No longer were the foes human. They were vile, monstrous beings who cared for nothing but their own selfish greed. Of course, there were sometimes more to it like with the recent adventure with the aliens but still. Minako would always have to be on the lookout for more creatures that harmed people or her friends. That was a sure must. She'd never sleep well at night if something bad happened to people she could stop. Yes, she couldn't live like a completely normal girl anymore but that was a price she was willing to pay.

"Well anyways," she said, "I'm going to go off to school now."

"Why?" Artemis, her talking magical cat, asked. Given her role as a magical warrior, a talking cat didn't phase her the least. "It's not a school day."

"...Pardon?"

"They called off today, remember?" Artemis said, "Something about school repairs."

"... Oh right," Minako groaned and flopped onto the bed, "So I got up super early for nothing. This bites."

Artemis used a paw to pat her shoulder, "There, there. Don't fret about that. I'm sure there's something you could do today."

"You're right," Minako smiled as she raced to her closet to change her clothes, "There's a sale on the finest jewelry today so I gotta be there."

"Errr," Artemis quirked an eyebrow, "Are you sure that's a wise idea? You know what usually happens during a sale in this town, don't you?"

"Oh please," Minako rolled her eyes, "Just because there is a sale or a brand new store opening up, it doesn't mean that something evil is going to happen. Besides, if something does happen, I think it's best for everyone a sailor scout is there to save the day."

Artemis worked his jaw, "Fair point." He wasn't used to her having solid points but she had her moments. Then again, he shouldn't underestimate Minako just because she was about as ditzy as Sailor Moon. "Just be careful."

"I will," Minako smiled as she went back to the bathroom to change again. Today was certainly going to be a good day. She could feel it. Nothing could sabotage it.

Hello everyone. Happy to bring you another brand new story. Will do my best to continue my other works. This one is for a brand new competition by Alex-keller. I chose to cross Fate and Sailor Moon with Astolfo as the main character from the Fate side. It'll just be him coming to the new world as the title and description show. As for when this happens, I will be using the OG Sailor Moon anime for the timeline and events. However, I will be bringing in some abilities they didn't have in their anime and instead had in the manga/Crystal. But for the most part, just the OG series. This story takes place right after the two alien lovers arc with the tree. Hope you all enjoy this story and I can't wait to read your feedback.
