His last big role
A guest asked for a oneshot of a daddy Charming moment on Emma's wedding day. (I can't do a daddy/daughter dance as I've done that already :) ).
I couldn't believe this moment was finally here. I mean, sure, I had been frozen in time for nearly three decades of my daughter's life, but it still felt like too short a time. If anything, that actually made it worse. I couldn't see this beautiful woman standing before me in her wedding dress. No, when I looked I still saw that tiny, premature, newborn baby girl. She still had the same big hazel eyes, still so filled with awe and wonder. I almost didn't want to do this, but it was too late for all of that. I knew that Emma was madly in love, and this was the right person for her. But still…it felt like this was me finally having to accept that my baby girl was, indeed, all grown up. We stopped together at the end of the aisle. I turned slowly, my hands trembling ever so slightly. I smiled at her, delighting in the way she smiled in return, her own eyes wet with tears. As were my own. This was Emma's moment. It was time to let her go. I gently moved the vail behind her, letting the small gathering of loved ones see the full extent of my daughter's beautiful face. I leaned forward and kissed her cheek.
"I love you." I whispered to her. She gently squeezed my hand.
"I love you too." She croaked back, her voice so full of emotion. I knew I had to let Emma go now, otherwise I never would. So I handed Emma's hand over to her soon-to-be spouse with one final look behind Emma's back. Not an angry look, not even a scary one. Just one that plainly said
Look after her. I'll still be watching. I knew that they understood.
I then took my seat beside Snow and Neal to watch the ceremony. My role was complete. My princess was a bride.
