Gonna miss you

JRocks asked for a oneshot of Henry and Neal sword fighting before Henry leaves town (aged 10 and 23). Afterwards, Neal says he is going to miss Henry. Henry tells him their family will always be together. Contains season 6 and beyond spoilers.

Well, my mini surge of requests was nice while it lasted lol. Once again, that's the request list empty, so please, hit me up! Even though I'm back to work next week, I always do my best to get them done ASAP. I will make it to 3000 chapters if it kills me!

"Oh no!" Henry cried out dramatically, tumbling to the grass below. All the while, Neal was in hysterics. "You have fatally wounded me, brave Sir Knight. Alas, it was but fate that I should die by your skilled hand…"

"Hen-ry." Neal complained light-heartedly. "Stop being goofy. That's the second time today you've let me win. Come on, it's the last day we'll get to practice together for…a while." Neal said, struggling to finish his sentence. Henry was leaving to start his journey through the realms with a seemingly bottomless fuel tank and very long range/battery life cell phone (AN sorry not sorry). Neal was nervous about losing his nephew for such a long time. The pair were close. Sure, he also did swordfights with his dad, but he was going to really miss Henry. They all were.

"Alright, wise guy. I'll try properly this time. Come at me." Henry challenged him. He would be true to his word. He wouldn't go easy on him. The thing was, Charming was never easy on him either. If Neal was to be trained properly, he had to be able to lose graciously and learn from his mistakes. So Neal was a lot better than Henry was anticipating. As such, Neal was just able to claim a proper victory. "Good job kid." Henry said proudly as he ruffled Neal's hair. "You're gonna make an awesome knight one day."

"They don't have knights here." Neal reminded him. Henry laughed.

"Alright, sheriff then." Henry corrected himself. Neal shifted uncomfortably.

"I'll see you before then, right?" He asked. Henry crouched so he and Neal were eye level.

"Before when bud?" He asked.

"Before I'm all grown up." Neal answered. "It's not like we can call you. We don't know when you'll come back…" Neal said, beginning to get upset again.

"Hey." Henry said, pulling the boy into a hug. "Neal, don't get upset. Of course I'll be back before you're all grown up. I'll be back before you know it. I'll always find a way back home." Henry promised him. Neal held Henry close.

"I'll miss you." He said, voice choking up. Henry pressed a kiss to the crown of his head.

"I'll miss you too, buddy. But know what? We don't really need to miss each other. Not in this family. Our family is always together. Right in here." Henry lightly pressed his finger against the left side of Neal's chest. "We always find each other." He reminded Neal. Neal nodded, trying hard to be brave, like the knight his nephew thought he could become. He would train harder than ever while Henry was away. He would show Henry that he really was a knight, no matter what realm he lived in.
