Not the real deal

Fangirl448 asked for a oneshot of Emma telling her parents about some of the fake memories she had as a child in the wish realm.

Guest: I suspect you've requested something else on the list as well. One request at a time please.

Sooooooo close to 10,000 reviews, and every day we get closer to 3,000 chapters, ahh!

It was never one long story. Snow and Charming had learned to accept that in the couple of weeks since Emma returned from the Wish Realm. They would probably never get Emma to sit down with them and give them all the tiny details of what life could have been like. They knew it was both a little embarrassing, as well as far too painful for her to relive. So they settled for the small snippets that would slip out here and there.

How she told them that the pancakes her dad made for her one morning were just like the ones he used to make on special occasions when she was little. When questioned, Emma realised that was in the Wish Realm, and quickly changed the subject. Still, it was something. Charming made sure he always kept that particular recipe at hand, apparently, it was his girl's favourite.

Another time, a couple of days later, Snow had caught her in the bathroom one evening trying to get her hair in a particular style. She was clearly frustrated, so Snow had offered to help. With Emma's description, Snow was easily able to work out what Emma was after. As she was doing it, Emma was so relieved to have someone who knew what they were doing work her hair that she let slip she used to wear it a lot in her "other life" to keep her hair out her face. Over there, it was only really Snow (apparently) that could manage the more tricky style too. Snow wasn't surprised. It had taken her a couple of years to master the style on herself. She was glad she could do it for her daughter now.

That was the way Emma's other memories were coming out, in little dribs and drabs. Sure, both parents wanted Emma to tell them everything. They wanted to be able to experience in one way or another what it would have been like to raise their daughter. Even if it wasn't for real.
