Date night for Charming and Emma
Fangirl448 asked for a oneshot of a daddy/daughter date between Emma and Charming.
Guest: why am I not surprised you can't spell parent? I guess trolls aren't known for their spelling abilities, huh?
Guest: could you give me some detail of what you'd like to happen in it please?
Kenya: Sorry, but I'm not really a big Hook writer anymore. Especially since it just causes people to cyber yell at me. Also, when requests are very long, it makes it tricky to pick out what the person wants, just for next time :).
"You really didn't need to go to all this trouble." Emma said bashfully. She was never one to like being the centre of attention.
"Of course I did. You're my daughter. Had you…had things gone differently, evenings like this would have happened a lot more frequently." Charming said, changing his sentence to make it more subtle. The curse was, and probably always would be, a sore subject for all the family. "Besides, outside of work I haven't seen a lot of you lately. It's not the same at work. We're either drowning in paperwork or chasing after some criminal. It's not like we get any real father/daughter time. I wanted a chance for us to really catch up. What with Neal being here now, I know we're not getting as much time as we might." Charming said, broaching the subject. He knew Emma becoming a big sister was going to be difficult for her, whether she was ready to admit it yet or not. If things had gone differently and Emma was still a little girl when her baby brother was born, Charming highly suspected she might throw a few tantrums and maybe even try and ship her baby brother out to sea. As it happened, Emma was a big girl now and settled for distancing herself from the home.
Emma froze slightly, her spoon still filled with soup. She regained her composure and brought the spoon to her mouth, swallowing the contents.
"I keep telling you both, I'm happy you have Neal now. I have no reason to be jealous of my baby brother. I'm thirty." Emma told him. She might have said it pleasantly enough, but Charming knew she wasn't being completely truthful. He wouldn't press her on it though, not tonight. Tonight was for them to enjoy each other's company.
"Well, either way, I'm glad we get to do this still." He said lightly, smiling over at her. He never failed to notice yet another detail about his daughter whenever he looked at her. How she had his smile, as well as his blonde waves. She had Snow's chin, and her stubbornness. She had his mother's cheeks. She was just so…perfect. He raised his glass to the middle of their table.
"To us." He said. "Getting a well deserved dadd-" Charming stopped himself at the look from Emma. He smiled. One of these days, he would catch her off guard and get to use the real term. "Father/daughter date nights." Emma chinked her glass off of his. Never in a million years did she think she would have a father in her life, let alone one who would insist on taking her out to dinner, or any other such activity, at least once a month. It was a dream come true for Emma. One she would never tire of living.
