Welcome to the 3rd chapter, this one is set 9 MONTHS AFTER THE LAST ONE. Conan and Ai are now thirteen-years-old (physically).

DISCLAIMER: DC and its characters belong to Gosho Aoyama (if they belonged to me, CoAi would be canon).

"We recommend all the passengers to come back to their own seats and fasten the seatbelts, the landing phase is about to begin in ten minutes" the voice from the speaker resonated in the whole airplane.

"Conan, wake up, we're about to land" Ai whispered to the sleeping boy sat beside her in the window seat while lightly patting him on his shoulder.

Conan didn't answer, or rather, he didn't say any words, he only emitted a few sounds keeping the mouth closed, meaning that he didn't want to wake up.

"Wake up, idiot," she said again.

"What do you want..." he mumbled, turning his head to the opposite side, still half asleep.

"At least fasten your seatbelt" she urged with a grumpy tone.

Conan opened his eyes and slowly did what she had told him to do, then rubbed his eyes and yawned.

"What are the others doing?" he asked her, his voice sounded exhausted.

"Ayumi-chan, Kojima-kun, and Tsuburaya-kun are sleeping soundly in the seats in the front, Hakase went to the toilet a few minutes ago..." Ai told him.

"And what about you? What were you doing before awakening me for a worthless reason?" he questioned, giving her an annoyed and tired look.

"I was staring at you... you know, you were sleeping like an angel" she answered with sarcasm, smirking at him and jokingly caressing his cheek with the back of her fingers, making him blush a bit.

"Then you shouldn't have woken me up" he answered back.

"It's only ten in the morning, why are you so sleepy? I understand why the others are so since they are true kids, but what's your excuse?" she asked.

"Last night I almost didn't sleep at all" he replied, letting out of another yawn.

"And may I know why?"

"Genta snored so much that I and Mitsuhiko couldn't sleep" he explained with a tired and irritated tone.

"I see... but are you sure that there's not another reason?" she said smirking.

"W-what do you mean?" he asked nervously, looking at her while scratching the back of his head with a hand.

"Couldn't it be that... you didn't sleep well because... you missed me?" she teased, getting her face closer to his.

"Don't talk nonsense!" he quickly defended himself and turned his head to the window, resting his chin on his right palm, trying to hide the increasing blush on his cheeks.

"Oh, looks like I've hit the point" she continued to tease him.

"I said stop"

"Awwwww, my hubby missed me, I'm really touched now" she went on while his face was becoming even redder.

"That's enough" he tried to stop her from making fun of him, but she didn't. Instead, she got closer and closer to his face.

"I didn't know you loved me so much" Ai whispered to his ear.

"Stop now, okay?"

"Only if you admit it"

Conan took a quick glance at her, she wasn't blushing at all but had managed to transform his face into a tomato; apparently, she always had the upper hand. He sighed in defeat and drew his glance away from her, looking again at the window and resting one of his burning cheeks on his hand.

"It's true" he mumbled, almost inaudible.

"I can't hear you" Ai mocked, bringing her hand behind her ear.

"I said it's true" he raised his voice just a bit.

"I still can't hear you"

"I said it's true, I didn't sleep well even because you weren't with me" he finally acknowledged with an exasperated tone, turning his face at her, who grinned and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.

They were returning to Tokyo after having been to Osaka the day before for Heiji's wedding with Kazuha. The party lasted until late at night, so all of them had to sleep in a hotel. Since the Detective Boys were with them, Conan had to be in the room with Mitsuhiko and Genta, while Ai had to be with Ayumi and Professor Agasa.

"And anyway, same goes for me" Ai notified, back to her cold attitude.

"Y-you m-missed me?" Conan stammered, blinking very rapidly, surprised by her statement. A spark of hope developed into him.

"I wasn't referring to that, idiot" she defined, extinguishing that spark of hope.

"Then what were you talking about?" he asked in confusion.

"Even Hakase snored heavily for all the night, preventing me and Ayumi-chan from sleeping" she looked away and rested her chin on her hand.

"So why aren't you sleepy like all of us?" Conan questioned, disappointed by her explanation. For a moment he had hoped that she was going to say that she had missed him too.

"You should know that I'm used to sleepless nights"

"Yeah, but after a wedding party everyone should be tired" he debated.

"It was only a boring party with too many people" she stated nonchalantly.

"Boring?" he asked, raising an eyebrow, dumbfounded.

"It was nothing special, the only funny moment was when that psychotic guest threatened your Osakan friend with a toy gun" Ai commented with her trademark smirk.

Conan giggled at her statement, "You have very weird tastes".

"You know, it's what I say to myself every time I think that I'm married to you" she teased and giggled back.

He smiled at her and leaned for a kiss, but she stopped him from reaching her lips with his by pushing his face away with her index finger and giving him a deadly glare.

"Are you crazy? There are a lot of people on this plane!" she whispered.

"Come on! It's been a whole day since I kissed you the last time, I had to hold myself all over the wedding" he whispered, pleading for a kiss with his puppy eyes.

"I said no. Do you want everyone to find out about our secret?"

Conan rolled his eyes and looked again at the window, crossed his arms on his chest, and sulked.

A few minutes later...

"Would you like to drink something?" a young stewardess asked them politely, stopping beside Ai's aisle seat with the drink cart.

"A glass of water, thanks," Conan requested, turning his face to her direction.

"Of course" the stewardess filled a paper cup with fresh water and leaned to give it to Conan, who extended his hand to grab it. Right when he was about to take it from the stewardess's hand, the airplane went through turbulence, causing the young woman to lose her balance and drop the glass of water onto Ai's white sweater.

Ai gasped and raised her arms as the water started to expand through the sweater, making it transparent enough to show clearly the dark blue bra she was wearing under it. She blushed in the deepest shade of red as many passengers shifted their gaze towards her, while Conan watched the scene, motionless and wide-eyed.

"Oh, I'm really sorry" the stewardess apologized to Ai while grabbing some napkins from the drink cart and trying to dry her sweater with them.

"D-don't worry" Ai stuttered, extremely embarrassed. The stewardess's effort to dry her didn't succeed, Ai's underwear was still clearly visible to everyone.

"Oh no, your underwear-" Conan was cut off by her.

"Shut up and do something!" Ai yelled at him nervously, still red from the embarrassment.

"W-what?" he asked her with hesitation.

"Haibara-san, is everything... fine..." Mitsuhiko popped out from the top of his seat's back, looking at the seats behind him, where Conan and Ai were. As soon as he saw Ai in those conditions, he blushed and lost his words.

"HURRY UP AND GIVE ME YOUR SWEATSHIRT!" Ai shouted at Conan, infuriated by his slowness in that awkward situation. The detective was always extremely reactive when he had to act immediately on a crime scene, to chase down a criminal, or to help someone in serious danger; but when it came to embarrassing situations like this one, he was slower than ever.

"Y-yeah" Conan took off his black sweatshirt, remaining with a white t-shirt, and gave it to Ai, who instantly grabbed it and wore it, taking a sigh in relief as soon as the zipper was closed and her underwear was covered.

"What's happening guys?" Genta popped out just like Mitsuhiko and stared at Conan and Ai, waiting for an explanation for the shouts that had woken him up.

"A-Haibara here had a small problem- Ouch!" he was punched in his head by Ai, as a punishment for being so passive and not helping her to immediately come out from that uncomfortable condition.

"Edogawa-kun here has to learn how to be helpful when he's needed," Ai said with a disapproving tone.

"You could have avoided this" Conan mumbled annoyed while massaging his head with a hand.

"I'm still really sorry, little girl" the stewardess apologized once more.

"Don't worry, the problem is solved now" Ai reassured her with a friendly tone, so the young woman continued her path on the aisle with the drink cart. The passengers who watched the scene came back to what they were doing before, and the tension in the air vanished.

"You can go back to sleep guys," Ai smiled to Mitsuhiko and Genta, who nodded and turned back, sitting properly on their seats and trying to fall asleep again.

"You're very funny, 'don't worry' to her and a punch on the head to me," Conan remarked with discontent, looking at Ai with the corner of his eyes.

"Maybe the next time that something like this happens you'll be awake, who knows..." she said back, crossing her arms at her chest, "... anyway, I better go to change my wet sweater in the toilet".

"Ai-kun are you alright? I heard your voice from the toilet" Agasa came back from the toilets and stopped beside Ai's aisle seat.

"Hakase, just in time, it was you who carried my white bag, right?" she asked him.

"Yeah, it's up here" Agasa replied, grabbing the bag from the luggage compartment over Ai's seat.

"Thank you, I always bring a change of clothes here" Ai took the bag from the professor and got out from her seat, "I'll come back in a few minutes".

Conan and Agasa nodded and watched Ai making her way to the toilets. After hearing Conan's explanations, Agasa came back to his seat beside Ayumi, who was still asleep despite the confusion.

Less than a minute later...

"This is not my bag" Conan heard a female voice coming from the seat behind his.

"But the color and the model are the same," a male voice beside the previous one said.

"Yeah but there are not my things into it, these clothes aren't mine"

"Yeah, you're right, they seem to belong to a little girl"

"Excuse me, could I see the bag?" Conan turned behind his seat towards the two adults and took the bag from the hands of the young woman, who didn't protest since she knew that that wasn't her bag. Conan's hand went through the bag as he recognized Ai's personal effects, then called Agasa who was two seats in front of him. The professor reached Conan's seat and sat on Ai's one.

"Hakase, isn't this Haibara's bag? There are also her personal effects inside it" Conan told him.

"Now that you're making me think about it, I remember that after the hand luggage security control, beside Ai's bag there was another one very similar to it" Agasa scratched the back of his head during the explanation, embarrassed after realizing his mistake.

"Damn it, Haibara has brought the wrong bag with her" Conan quickly got up, "I'll bring you your bag in a few minutes," he told the young woman behind him and started running towards the toilets.

Ai entered a toiled and closed the door behind her. She opened the white bag she was holding and got a bad surprise, her eyes widened as she didn't find her personal belongings. The inside of the bag was a mess, and it was full of make-up products, things that she wouldn't use because there was no need.

A few seconds later, someone knocked at the door.

"Ai, are you here?" it was Conan's voice.

Ai opened the door and found him standing in front of her, holding her true bag and handing it to her.

"There has been an exchange of bags, this is yours," he told her.

'Hakase...' she thought, sighing and rolling her eyes, already knowing that it was likely the professor's fault. She extended both her hands, the right was free and ready to grab her bag, and the left was holding the other bag and ready to give it to Conan. All of a sudden, the airplane tilted lightly on the toilet's side, causing both of them to lose their balance and fall into it together, then tilted again on the opposite side, causing the door to close abruptly.

"Damn it" Conan murmured while getting up from Ai's body, "Are you alright?" he asked her, extending his hand to help her to get up too.

"Y-yeah" she replied, taking his hand and lifting herself from the floor, "looks like everything is going wrong today".

"Don't be so pessimistic, things could go worse than this" Conan said while bringing his hand to the doorknob and turning it, but the door didn't open, so he tried again, again and again, without any results. When he turned back to Ai after a minute of repeated attempts, he found her watching him with boredom and arms crossed at her chest.

"I-I think the door is stuck," he said hesitantly while scratching the back of his head.

"Really?" she asked sarcastically, raising an eyebrow. He laughed nervously, knowing that he had just looked like an idiot.

"Are you planning to ask for any help?" she asked sharply. He didn't answer as he turned back and knocked continuously at the door asking for help.

"Hey! Is there anyone outside?! The door is stuck! I can't exit from here!" Conan said out loud while crashing his fist against the door.

Luckily for them, a stewardess heard him from the outside and came closer to the toilet where they were trapped in. She also tried to open the door from the outside but it remained unremovable.

"Don't worry, I'm calling a technician to solve the problem, it may take some time" she woman told him with a loud voice.

"Great, seems that things have just got worse," Conan said, resigned, turning again to Ai.

"When will you learn to keep your mouth closed?" she sighed and opened her bag, searching for a dry sweater.

"What are you doing?" he asked, getting closer to her.

"I'm doing something useful" she replied coldly, grabbing a dark red sweater from her bag. Then she took Conan's sweatshirt off and threw it on his face.

"Hey!" he grumbled and drove a hand to it from his face, "what is getting into you today?".

"It's all your fault," she remarked while taking her wet sweater off too, and wearing the new one.

"Excuse me?" he asked, dumbfounded.

"If you hadn't asked for a glass of water, all of this wouldn't have happened," she asserted, glaring at him.

"This is nonsense, plus, it was you who woke me up," he said back, also crossing his arms at his chest.

She turned her back to him, now facing the wall. He was a bit bewildered by her behavior, it wasn't like her to blame him for a ridiculous reason like the one she had just used. He knew that she also knew that the things who had happened were just a pair of unfortunate coincidences, but she seemed to be particularly irritable that day, and he didn't know why, so he decided to ask her.

"Could you tell me why your mood is so alterable today?" he asked, placing a hand on her shoulder.

"My mood isn't different than the other days" she affirmed without hesitancy.

"You're lying. Something is bothering you, am I wrong?"

She didn't answer. Despite her hard attempts to abort it, she let out of a long and heavy yawn.

"You're the detective, discover it by yourself," she told him without turning at him.

He was completely out of ideas until she yawned again and rubbed her eyes. She was getting sleepy, and the things that happened before had made her tired. Plus, she didn't sleep enough last night because of Professor Agasa's loud snoring, and also for another reason she didn't want him to know.

"Oh, I get it now, I bet that even you are tired because of not sleeping well last night" he exposed his deduction.

"This is only half of the reason" she noted.

"And what's the other half?" he asked, getting more curious. She didn't answer, so he held both her shoulders and turned her to him.

"Ai, what's the other reason?" he asked again. She wasn't looking at him in his eyes, and a bit of red was visible on her cheeks.

"Did I say or do something wrong?" he was now hypothesizing that he was the cause.

"You couldn't have done anything for it" she mumbled in a very low voice but loud enough to be heard by him. He was even more confused now, something bothered her, something he couldn't do anything for. Suddenly, an idea came up in his mind.

"It's not that... last night... you missed me too?" he asked hesitantly, raising an eyebrow. At his words she turned her face on her left, looking at him with the corner of her eyes; the blush on her cheeks was deepening, she was clearly uncomfortable now.

"Come on..." he said while holding her chin with a hand and turning her face to him again, "... you can say it... there's nothing to be embarrassed for..." he stimulated her with a friendly voice. She was still silent.

"It's normal... now you're used to falling asleep in my arms and also waking up in my arms" he continued, however, she didn't dare to speak.

"Come on... admit it..." he was using a teasing tone, now it was his turn to have the upper hand, "... or else..."

"Or else?" she questioned in an intimidating voice.

"Or else..." he leaned forward to her ear, "... I will kiss you really badly" he whispered in a mixture of teasing and seduction.

"Don't you dare to blackmail m-" she was cut off by him, who suddenly claimed her lips and used her gasp as an opportunity to enter her mouth with his tongue. Her eyes went wide as she wasn't expecting this at all, they were arguing a few moments earlier, and now the situation had completely changed. He caressed her cheek with one hand and used the other one to gently push her against the wall to make the kiss more intense. She felt his smile as she was unconsciously beginning to respond to the kiss. His hands found their way to her waist s she wrapped her arms around his neck and closed her eyes, both of them moved to close the gap between their bodies, enjoying the physical contact. After many seconds, their lips disconnected as they needed to breathe.

"So now... will you tell me?" Conan asked while breathing heavily.

"Shut up" she quickly mumbled as she put him into another passionate kiss, which they had to break a few seconds later since the door suddenly opened. They instantly pulled away from each other and tried to mask their red cheeks from the person who opened it, which happened to be the technician who was called by the stewardess.

"The problem is solved, you can come out-" the technician paused as he saw that there were two people inside the toilet, and they were a boy and a girl, plus, both of them were blushing. The stewardess popped out from behind the man and stared at them with a surprised look on her face.

"I-I didn't know there were two kids here" the woman clarified emphasizing the word 'two', already thinking about what the two of them could have been doing there.

"D-Don't misunderstand things, the door was open and then the plane titled, we both fell inside, then the door closed and we got trapped here" Conan quickly explained waving his hands in front of him. While he was clearly appearing embarrassed, Ai wore her cold mask and walked out of the room, yawning again.

"We better go, we don't have time to lose, you still have to give that bag back to its owner" Ai ordered, managing to lower the tension and the awkwardness of that moment. Conan nodded and followed her, leaving the stewardess and the technician a bit perplexed.

'I wonder where are those two, it's been more than ten minutes since they went to the bathroom' Agasa thought after answering to the dozen of questions asked by Ayumi about what happened while she was asleep and where had Conan and Ai gone, thing that also Genta and Mitsuhiko had questioned him about. In the meantime, the young woman three seats behind him was getting impatient to have her bag back and had asked him many times about where was Conan; Agasa only told her that he had gone to search for it and that he would come back in a few minutes.

He took a deep sigh in relief when he saw the two fake kids coming back from the toilets, he couldn't take it anymore to be asked so many questions about them by so many people.

"Oh, finally" Agasa whispered.

"Where have you been?" Ayumi asked them.

"It's a very long story" Conan used a few words to avoid a long and embarrassing explanation, then returned the bag to the young woman, apologizing for the mishap, and finally went again to sit beside Ai, who was already back in her seat.

He sighed in sync with her, who yawned instead; both were hoping that no more weird events would happen for the rest of the day.

"Tired?" he asked her in a whisper.

"What do you think? It hasn't been exactly a relaxing flight" she rubbed her eyelids and yawned again. Conan held her head with a hand and pushed it to rest on his shoulder, catching her off guard.

"What are you doing?" she whispered, exhausted and needy for sleep.

"Just stay and close your eyes"

She didn't pull away and closed her eyes, "Sleeping when we land in about twenty minutes has no sense, do you know? And what if the kids turn behind them and see us?"

"Just stop making your brain work and don't worry about anything else" he recommended, she nodded in response and fell asleep in less than a minute. 'She must be really exhausted' Conan deduced, curving his lips up to form a warm smile.
