Broken down- part 2

A guest asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch2890 "Broken down".

This little town just kept getting weirder and weirder. How did so many people know Henry and I? Henry said I was just being paranoid. He said it was a tiny little place. That it probably didn't get many visitors, so the couple we met when we arrived probably spread the word really fast and everyone else was just being overly familiar. I wasn't convinced. They all seemed to think they actually knew us. Then, when it became clear we didn't recognise them at all, it was like they knew something about us that we didn't. I was meant to be going on a bondsperson job. What if he'd done something to our car? What if he found out I was onto him and made it so I'd end up in this weird little town? After all, like Henry said, it was a tiny place and word travels fast. He wouldn't need an awful lot of money or leverage to bribe most people here into acting weird around us. No, something fishy was going on.

The garage were taking suspiciously long to have the breaks for my car delivered. Ok, so the bug was getting on a bit, the breaks weren't easy to come by, I got that. I also got that this was a small place, more of a hamlet than a town, really, but it couldn't be that problematic. We'd been here just over a week without a hint as to when the brakes would arrive. Heck knows how long they'd take to fit them. No, I was convinced something was up here. No matter how much Henry said I was being my usual, paranoid, self. In this line of work, it paid to be cautious.
