Neal's nativity

JRocks asked for a oneshot of the family watching Neal in a school play.

I do know what Thanksgiving is, in the same way people from other countries know about Guy Fawkes Night. But I don't actually know the tiny details about how it's celebrated, and tbh, I've never heard of anyone dressing up for it haha.

"Shh, it's starting!" Snow whispered excitedly, zooming in on her old-fashioned video camera (some technology in Storybrooke really hadn't quite caught up with the rest of the world yet). Charming squeezed her hand beside her. He was just as excited as she was. They had been ever since they'd began going over the two little lines with Neal. As usual at Storybrooke Elementary, the kindergarten class would be in charge of the nativity play. That meant Neal would be participating this year. Snow had fought hard to take sneaky peaks at what Neal's class' play looked like while she taught fourth grade. She'd restrained herself though. She wanted this to be just as big a surprise to her as it was to the other parents. Emma sat on her mother's other side, with Henry beside her. They smiled at Snow and Charming's dorkiness. They got why they were both so excited though. The first school play was a big thing.

They had to wait for about ten minutes before Neal came onto the stage. He was assigned the part of a magi. Snow and Charming teetered with excitement as their little boy came onto the stage. They smiled warmly at how adorable he was, hardly able to see as his hat slid over his eyes. Snow nudged Emma in the ribs when she had a light-hearted chuckle when he nearly tripped over his robes. What could Emma say? She was, after all, his big sister. Surely it was her job to remember these tiny embarrassing moments for years to come? They waited eagerly for him to say his lines.

"I have brought you the gift of myrrh." He said confidently. He then beamed over at his family in the crowd. They all gave him encouraging thumbs up. He had nailed it! Snow and Charming were so proud of their little wise man. Safe to say, he would be getting a massive celebratory gingerbread man from Granny's when the play was over.
