Christmas delivery
Elizabeth asked for a oneshot of it being Christmas time in the EF. Snowing are expecting their third child. When Emma goes downstairs on Christmas morning, she finds no presents or parents waiting for her. However, she soon finds out she has received the best present of all. Her baby sister Rosie was born shortly before she woke up.
Lots of little boys and girls put a new brother or sister on their Christmas list. Princess Emma was no exception. When she was two, her parents asked her what she wanted for Christmas. She loved her little brother dearly, but Emma told her parents she wanted Santa to bring her a baby sister. Her parents told her Santa couldn't bring her a little sister this year, so she settled for a new treasure chest to hide her favourite toys from her drooly brother. How were any of them to know Santa would deliver that presen to little Emma? Maybe just not that year…
As Emma's eyes slowly opened, an enchanting smile spread across her face. She knew what day it was. She had been counting down the sleeps with her mommy and daddy for weeks. Today was Christmas Day! That meant Santa Claus had been! She quickly scrambled out of bed and thundered down the hall to two year old Neal's room. Her little partner in crime. One of the big advantages of Christmas Day, Emma was beginning to discover as she got older, was that there weren't as many soldiers around the palace. That meant being able to run into her little brother's bedroom no problem.
"Neal, wake up, Santa's been!" Emma exclaimed merrily. Her little brother did not even stir. He was a heavy sleeper, and did not like mornings. Unlike his always-on-the-go big sister. Emma sighed in frustration. She walked over to his bed and began to shake him.
"Nealy!" The three year old shouted. "Nealy, Santa!" Neal gave a little whine and buried his head further into the pillow. Emma stood back, placed her hands on her hips, and fixed him with a stern expression like mommy sometimes did when they were being naughty. But nothing. Neal slept on. That was fine by Emma. Maybe Neal didn't want any presents, but she did. She didn't bother going into mommy and daddy's room, she knew they'd be awake already. They always were on Christmas Day. Instead, she ran past their room and all the way down to the grand hallway with the biggest Christmas tree in the whole palace. That's where the mountains of presents left by Santa always were…except, not this year. Emma's face fell. What had happened? Had Santa forgot about them. Worse still…had they been on the naughty list? Surely not! Emma always tried to be a good girl, surely she and her little brother would both be on Santa's nice list? And where were mommy and daddy? They were always up first on Christmas Day. Emma's lip began to quiver. This wasn't how things were meant to be at all. She made her way more glumly up the stairs, this time going into her parents' room, to see if she could find them.
"Mommy? Daddy?" Emma whispered sadly, not able to see if they were there in the pitch black of their room. "No Santa!" Emma then burst into tears.
"Emma?" She heard her daddy ask, clearly worried. He came over and scooped his little girl up. Emma buried her head against her dad's shoulder and continued to cry.
"Oh sweetheart. Santa did bring you a gift last night…maybe just not the kind you were expecting?" Emma stopped crying. Santa had been?
"Huh?" She asked, confused. Emma was carried over to her parents' bed. Her vision had adjusted better to the dark now. She could see mommy on the bed, holding something.
"Well, last night, the baby that was in mommy's tummy decided it was time to come out so they could have their first Christmas." Her daddy explained. "Emma, meet Rosie, your new baby sister." Charming whispered at her. Emma stared in awe at the baby in her mother's arms. She moved carefully closer, looking down curiously at the tiny baby. Snow smiled at her eldest.
"We're sure Santa left other gifts for you both too." She promised Emma. "Maybe he was just so focused on making sure the new baby was ok he didn't leave them under the big tree like he normally does. Maybe they're under a different tree." But Emma wasn't really caring about her other presents just now. She was quite happy with the one in her mother's arms. The one she'd waited a whole year for, but Santa always brought the gifts he was asked for. Emma's baby sister was no different.
