Not as planned

Just one of my own :).

"NOOOOO!" The toddler screamed, her face already a worrying shade of puce. She had kept up this tantrum since she had received the big news well over two hours ago. Snow and Charming had expected little Emma to be happy about it, like she normally was about everything. Apparently not.

Somewhere in the back of their minds, Snow and Charming had somewhat prepared themselves for a situation like this. After all, it was understandable. There was a slightly larger age gap that either parent had expected. Not large, by any stretch of the imagination, but still bigger than expected. Emma was just about to turn four. Meaning by the time her new little sibling arrived, she'd be nearly five. They had tried many times, since even before Emma had turned one, but it just didn't happen for the couple. They loved their daughter dearly, and thought she'd enjoy being a big sister, but right now, Emma wanted no part in this. "I don't want a baby!" She wailed. "Send it back!"

"We know, baby." Charming said wearily, as he rubbed Emma's back. "But you know it doesn't work like that. This baby is coming whether you like it or not." He reminded her gently. Emma just through her head against his chest and continued to cry. The scene broke Snow's heart, but there wasn't much either of them could do. They had to just let Emma get this out of her system. Only then did they have a chance of her becoming happy about this. Charming gave Snow an apologetic look. He hated seeing either of his girls so distressed, but particularly in Snow's condition, he didn't want her worrying.

"It's ok, you go on, I'll stay with her." He promised. Snow bit her lip, torn, but nodded. Maybe a little space would do Emma some good. But as soon as Snow began walking to the door, Emma's crying intensified.

"MOMMY!" She screamed, wriggling out of Charming's lap and bolting for her mommy before her daddy could stop her. She quickly had a vice-like grip around her mother's legs. Snow's heart was a puddle. Her poor little girl.

"It's alright. I'm not going anywhere." Snow promised her soothingly as she picked Emma up. She gently swayed with her, as Charming came over and kissed Emma's head tenderly. This wasn't exactly the way either of them had planned this moment, but never the less, it was the way the situation had presented itself.
