Cutting the red tape

CharmingsDaughter asked for a oneshot of Emma giving her parents adoption papers for Christmas.

Emma shifted nervously in her seat. What if she'd gotten this wrong? What if her parents didn't think this was an appropriate gift for her to give them? What if they thought she was using it as a way to get out of buying her an actual present? Emma's nerves only grew as Charming pulled the envelope out from under the tree.

"To mom and dad. With all my love, Emma." Charming read the envelope aloud. He looked up at her and smiled before tearing open the envelope to see it's contents. When he gasped, Snow peered over his shoulder to see what was so shocking. She had a near equally shocked reaction.

"I'm sorry." Emma said quickly. "I'll take them back…"

"Don't you dare." Charming said, clutching the envelope tightly. He then looked to Snow, having one of their silent conversations before they both smiled, tears in their eyes.

"I'll grab a pen." Snow said, shooting up from the couch, kissing Emma's cheek as she passed her. "This is perfect. Sure, it's not the way it should be, but at least it makes it official." Snow said, voice filled with excitement. Emma just nodded, relieved that her parents were happy with the adoption papers should had got them. By next Christmas, they would legally be a family.
