Still a murderer in her eyes
Ok, so I had promised myself I was just going to wait until I got a request before writing any more in OCF, but then I watched EastEnders tonight and it was so relatable to this part of OUAT and feck it, I wanted to write it. *season 6 OUAT spoilers and Christmas special EastEnders spoilers!* (If you have watched EE tonight, who do you think has copped it?!). Oh, also, it does relate to Hook, but not in the best light to make this all work, so if that upsets you, please don't read this chapter. Yes, I am aware this isn't how it happened in the show, for those that might get pissy about it, that's why it's called fanfiction ;)
Anyway, I hope you all had a very merry Christmas and spent it with those you love most 3. I write this from well past 1am on Boxing Day GMT, but I couldn't get this out my head haha.
Also, this chapter is dedicated to Justanoutlaw, who's been very supportive of me this last week. Cheers bud x
Hook didn't look up when he heard the door open. It was late, it could only be Emma coming back home.
"I'm in the kitchen, love." He called, putting the freshly washed cup on the sink to dry. "I've left you some dinner in that micro-thing…"
"It's not Emma." Came a reply. Hook turned round to see who it was. He smiled, his future mother-in-law.
"Snow. Emma's not home yet…"
"I know she's not. I convinced her to stay at the station to finish off some paperwork so I could come back and speak with you privately." She responded, more coldly than Hook had ever heard the bandit princess speak to anyone before.
"Ok…" He responded awkwardly. "Is this some form of a protective parent speech? Because, rest assured, your husband has covered this area more than a few times." Hook said, trying to make light of the strange situation he had now found himself in. Snow didn't so much as crack a smile.
"No, Hook. This is more of a 'there's no way in Hell I'm letting you marry my daughter' kinda thing." Snow answered him. Hook looked back, stunned. Weren't they passed all this? "Don't give me the whole 'I've changed' speech." Snow warned him. "We've heard it all before. Spare me." She spat, livid. "I found the missing pages from Henry's book. I don't know if you removed them, or if someone else did. Either way, you know what went down and why I won't let Emma marry you. The question is, do you have the guts to at least come clean to me now?" Snow snarled. Hook swallowed the growing lump in his throat. From his experience, these things were never what you expected. If he admitted his biggest secret now and he was wrong, Snow would tell Emma anyway and he would lose her forever. Snow sighed. She had hoped he would at least come out with it himself now. "Coward." She snarled. "We both know you murdered Emma's grandfather, David's father, in cold blood." Snow said, confirming his worst fear. Hook's stomach sank.
"Please, let me explain…" He croaked, but Snow shook her head. She didn't want to hear it.
"No!" She yelled, furious at herself for trusting the pirate. "No, there is nothing to explain. You must have known for some time it was David's father you killed that night. Yet you kept it hidden from Emma. She had a right to know, Hook, but you were too damn cowardly to tell her yourself." Snow's hands were balled into fists. She was restraining herself from beating the living hell out of him on Charming's behalf. "So, here's what's going to happen now." Snow began coldly. "Your engagement to Emma is henceforth cut off. I'm not letting my little girl marry a murderer, let alone the so-called man who killed her grandfather. I'm not letting her be near you for another minute. You're going to go stay on the Jolly Roger tonight. I will be taking Emma home with me and she will be staying with us until I know you've left town for good. Then she'll be coming back to her own home." Snow told him. Hook shook his head defiantly.
"No, please. You can't make me lose her over a mistake I made decades ago!" He pleaded.
"You didn't even tell her, Hook. No, your excuses aren't flying this time. This was the final straw. Leave." Snow ordered him. Hook shook his head again.
"Snow, Emma needs some kind of explanation. She'll be hurt too if she thinks I've just left. Please, let me explain to her now…"
"Too late. You had your chance." Snow growled. "Yes, you're right, Emma will be hurt when I tell her the truth. But with time and help from her family, that hurt will heal. As her mother, it is my job to keep my daughter safe. She will be safe as long as she is away from you. You murdered her grandfather, Hook. I can't believe you can't see that there is no coming back from this…"
"He did what?"
Snow looked round. Their argument had become so intense that neither of them had noticed Emma had come home. Snow quickly took hold of Emma's hand to stop her getting closer to Hook.
"I will explain everything, when we get back to my place. You're not staying here tonight, Emma. It's just not happening…"
"You can't just take her! Swan, wait" Hook called, about to grab Emma's other hand. Snow pulled her forward.
"Touch her and you die." Snow hissed, tightening her grip on Emma. She wasn't letting her little girl anywhere near Hook ever again now that she knew the truth. Emma was stunned. She couldn't believe Hook had killed her grandfather.
"Why didn't you tell me?" She croaked, tears building up in her eyes.
"I-I wanted to, Emma. I just…"
"Don't let him fill your head with excuses." Snow cut him off. She took Emma out the room and out the front door. "I know this is a lot to take in. Right now, I need to get you out of here. I promise that when we get home, I will explain everything properly and we can talk about it." Snow assured her. By now, Hook was at the front door right behind them. Snow pulled Emma over to her car, making sure she got in the front passenger seat. She looked back up at Hook.
"If you follow us, or try to contact my daughter again in any way, it will be the last thing you ever do. It's over, Hook. Accept it. I want you out of town in three days." Snow warned him coolly before getting in the driver's seat and leaving for her own home, leaving a distraught Killian behind and a still stunned Emma beside her. Snow didn't care a jot what Hook was feeling. She did, however, care deeply about how Emma must be feeling, and how Charming would feel when he found out. Right now though, the priority was creating distance between Emma and her now ex. Snow would protect her daughter from him at all costs.
