Still a murderer in her eyes- part 2
CharmingsDaughter asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch2933 "Still a murderer in her eyes" where Emma seeks Hook out after deciding to forgive him, only to get caught by the Charmings.
A major discovery here: if you didn't like the first part of this chapter, it's highly unlikely you'll like this chapter either. Don't say you weren't warned ;). If it makes your lonely lives feel better, still have a gripe at me when you're done reading something you've been warned you won't like. Some of you might actually want to find the EastEnders 2017 Christmas Day episode (on IPlayer if you're in the UK, or YouTube for the rest of the world) to see why I wrote Snow like I did for this chapter. There was good inspiration haha.
Emma wasn't saying that she trusted Hook again, but she felt he had the right to be heard out. The curse over her parents had been broken. The Black Fairy had been defeated. Storybrooke was back to normal. The least she could do was hear him out…right?
Emma knew her parents wouldn't exactly be thrilled at the idea of her seeing Hook again. They had worked so hard to keep them apart since the news came out. So Emma made sure she arranged to meet with her ex-fiancé on a day when she knew both her parents were too busy to be concerned with her whereabouts. She didn't plan on being gone for long. Hook had docked the Jolly Roger in port and promised Emma that if she still wanted nothing to do with him, he would leave immediately and never return.
Emma climbed aboard the familiar territory that was the Jolly Roger. She felt guilt creep around her as she made her way below deck. She knew she was lying to her family, even if she hadn't told anyone where she was. That was kind of the problem.
"You came." Hook's voice said quietly, broken. Emma shrugged. She couldn't look him in the eye. She didn't want to. She didn't know how she would feel if she did and that scared her. Instead, she kept her gaze on the damp wooden planks below her feet.
"I promised I would hear you out." Emma replied quietly. "You have five minutes." She warned him. She heard the legs of his chair scrape as he rose to his feet.
"Emma, love, you have no idea how much it means to me that you would even consider…" Hook stopped when Emma stepped back as he approached her. He froze where he stood. Clearly this wasn't going to be as straight forward as he had begun to hope. He sighed. "What happened between me and your grandfather…I was a different man back then…"
"That doesn't explain why you didn't tell me as soon as you knew." Emma pointed out, beginning to feel her emotions bubble to the surface.
"I know-I know. I regret that now, I truly do. I should have come clean, Emma. Maybe then this whole mess would be behind us…"
"Oh, so the murder of my grandfather would be that easy to sweep under the rug, you think?" Emma spat bitterly. Hook bit his lip.
"Of course not. I didn't mean it like that…"
"Step the Hell away from my daughter." A voice growled from the doorway. Emma turned around and sighed.
"Guys, I've got this. Please, can you give us a minute?" Emma asked them.
"Not a chance. Emma, did it even occur to you that you're on board his ship? He could easily have taken you away to another realm and we would have lost you forever to a murderer!"
"We've all done things we regret, mate." Hook responded, fed up of having that label pinned to his name. "And I couldn't regret killing your father more. It's Emma's decision whether she takes me back or not." Charming brandished his sword threateningly towards Hook.
"That might be, but we're still her parents. We still want what's best for her. Always have, always will." Snow told him coldly. But they both knew Emma needed closure on this chapter in her life. Snow looked towards Emma. "We'll be waiting aboard the ship on the upper deck. We're not leaving until you do. Whatever you decide." Snow explained as Charming flashed Hook a warning look. Neither were comfortable leaving Emma alone down here, but they knew she needed this. Emma smiled gratefully at them as they made their way back upstairs. Emma knew she'd be following them shortly. She turned back to Hook, her arms folded awkwardly across her chest.
"I'm sorry, but your excuses just aren't good enough." Emma said, her voice breaking with emotion. She removed the ring from her finger and placed it on the table beside her, ignoring Hook's pleading. "We're through." Emma turned herself and made her way back up the stairs. Her parents immediately saw her blurry eyes and welcomed her in a warm embrace. This wasn't going to heal quickly, but they would be with her until their daughter felt whole again.
