My revenge

Just one of my own. I hope the title makes sense to the relevant parties ;) Main character death warning! Also, SEASON SIX SPOILERS.

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you all have a great year. I feel we should make it a collective resolution to get this story to 3000 chapters, because it won't happen without requests. I'll be upfront, right now, it doesn't look like this story will reach 3000. I hope I'm wrong, because it will really annoy me otherwise with how close it got lol.

Guest: you can use as many fake names as you desire. You can even call yourself a first time reviewer. It doesn't mean that I've lost all sense and believe you. Please don't treat me like I'm stupid.

Emma sat by his bedside, trying to hold back her own tears. She had to be strong, for him. He looked so happy. So peaceful with what they all knew was to come. Why wouldn't Charming be happy? He'd finally be reunited with Snow after a long eighteen months without her.

Life had gotten so calm after the Black Fairy had been defeated. Henry moved on and found his own path in life. Emma was content with living out her days in Storybrooke, being as close to the parents she never had as a child as possible. She loved the bond she had with little Neal, even though they were three decades apart. They were finally happy. The Charmings finally got to live out their happy ending.

They almost didn't notice as old age caught them eventually. Snow and Charming still saw each other with the same love they had when they first met. When they looked at Emma, they still saw their little girl. However, Emma noticed her parents' aging; as did Neal. The problems of sharing a heart were growing clearer. They didn't age as well as Emma. They were stiffer, slower, and, to their greatest downfall, more susceptible to illness. Snow went first. Peacefully in her sleep through pneumonia, but surrounded by those she loved.

Charming was never the same after that. He did his best for Emma and Neal, as well as his grandchildren. But there was no life for him without Snow. Emma and Neal were surprised he had lasted this long. As they both sat by his side that night, they knew it was time. He had to be reunited with his Snow. Charming raised a hand to each of their faces. His children. His beautiful, wonderful children. He smiled at them, tired with age.

"It's time." He said quietly. He wasn't sad though. He was content with his lot in life. Emma and Neal's eyes filled with tears. They knew it was too, but it didn't make it easy to face.

"I love you so much." Emma croaked.

"I love you too, dad." Neal added, so stunned with the moment. Charming's smile widened a fraction.

"And I love you both too. We both did." Then, Charming's eyes closed slowly, as if he were going to sleep. But he would not wake up. The machines around him started to beep, but Emma and Neal did not rise to call for help. They knew it would do no good. Instead, they clung to their father for the last few seconds before the medics came. This was their last chance to say goodbye. Emma slowly let go of her dad's hand before moving round to Neal to help him. She was the big sister. She would look after him now, even though he was a grown man with a family of his own. She would do this for their parents, she knew it is what they would want. She would fight her own crippling grief and look after Neal. For now they were both truly orphans, and there would be no curse that could undo this.
