Her dark hair fell down her back as the moonlight glinted in her amber eyes. A dark green dress clung to her body and she stared out off the balcony behind her a loud party was going on in the fire nation palace ballroom. She was honestly quite tired of all the diplomatic events that had come with the end of the war. Not that she wasn't happy the war was over she would just also be happy when peace was established and she didn't have to spend so much time talking to large groups of dignitaries in an attempt to create relationships that had been destroyed by a 100 years of war.

" Not a fan of parties huh?" a voice came from behind her. She turned around and her eyes fell on a very attractive man. He had sun tanned skin, dark brown hair, and the most piercing blue eyes she had ever seen.

"Not when you're required to go to as many as I have" she replied chuckling.

"I understand," he nodded, "this is about the millionth one i've had to go to since the war ended."

"You must be one of the dignitaries from the Water Tribe" she suddenly recognizes the dark blue outfit he was probably forced to wear to identify him as Water Tribe just as she was forced to wear this dark green so people would instantly know she was from the Earth Kingdom.

"I wouldn't say dignitary but yeah" he shook his head slowly "Sokka" he says extending his hand toward her. Suddenly she felt stupid for not immediately recognizing the man in front of her she had seen him in meetings many times with the Fire Lord and the Avatar.

"Y/N" she replied "I've seen you before but i don't think we have ever been introduced, I'm the Omashu ambassador."

He shook his head slowly looking deep in thought "That cannot possibly be true" he muttered

"So you came out here to call me a liar" She asked with amusement evident in her voice

" I just meant that I would have definitely remembered seeing you" he rasped.

She was unsure of what was unfolding there on a balcony between the two of them but she shook her head smiling softly. "I assure you I have sat through my fair share of meetings with You, Fire Lord Zuko, and the Avatar. But I usually sit toward the back and I don't interject much because King Bumi trusts the Avatar to make the right decisions for everyone"

He stepped closer to her, her breath caught in her throat as his piercing blue eyes seemed to stare into her soul. His foot caught on an uneven paving stone causing him to crash into her pinning her between him and the railing of the balcony behind her. He jerked back but her bracelet had caught on the belt of his tunic and she was dragged with him. Apologizing profusely she nervously tried to free her wrist. When she pulled free she slipped on the hem of her dress and he reached out to catch her slamming her forcefully into his chest.

"Are you alright Y/N" he whispered, his cheeks stained a light pink color she assumed from the embarrassment of tripping before.

"Im fine, I'm so sorry im such a clutz" she said glancing up at his face he was closer than she had thought he was and her nose brushed against his jaw line. She went to step away but his arm tightened around her waist holding her to his chest.

" I started it" he whispered, glancing down at her perfect pink lips. "Are you going to kiss me, or are you going to make me kiss you?" She breathed causing a shiver to run down his spine. "I was getting to it" he laughed "but someone seems to be a little impati-" he was cut off as her lips crashed into his one of her hands rested on his chest the other snaked its way up to rest on the nape of his neck. She hoped he couldn't feel how erratically her heart was beating in her chest as his hand pressed against the small of her back, willing her closer to him. Suddenly someone cleared their throat and the two of them jumped apart a dark blush coloring both of their cheeks.

"I see you're making friends Sokka '' another man with blue arrow tattoos on his head teased . "I'm Aang" the man offered as the realization that this must be the Avatar washed over her.

"Y/N" she offered, wondering how on earth this had gotten so out of hand all she had wanted was some fresh air and a break from all the pompous dignitaries. "I'm making a terrible first impression" she muttered to herself. She could see a smirk forming on Sokka's face.

"You seem to be making a fine first impression on Sokka," Aang laughed. "I was just looking for your sister, have you seen her?" he was talking to Sokka now.

"She clearly isn't out here" Sokka said gesturing to the balcony that was empty except for the three of them.

"Uh…. um… right if you see her then…. Uh just tell her i'm looking for her" the younger man sputtered "I'll ...leave you to…. Well…"

"If i see her i'll let you know" Sokka interrupted "Bye Aang." The other man blushed as though just remembering what he had interrupted and returned to the bustling ballroom. She watched him walk away embarrassed that her first meeting with the Avatar had happened under the current circumstance.

"I'm sorry" She blurted to Sokka once they were alone again.

"Your sorry?" he sputtered confused at your sudden apology.

"I …. I hardly know you and….. I'm supposed to be making a good impress-" she was cut off by a quick kiss on the lips from Sokka. As he pulled back he smiled at you again

"How about tomorrow after all our boring responsibilities and meetings you let me take you to dinner"

"I'd like that" she whispered quietly as the ballroom started emptying to signal the end of a party.

"Until then, Y/N" he nodded softly kissing the back of her hand before disappearing to find his sister and his friends. She watched him walk away and wondered if Aang would tell the others what had happened on the balcony. She really wasn't very good at first impressions.
