A choice for no parents- part 2

Torie714 asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch1610 "A choice for no parents" where we see Snowing's reactions to Emma's choice as they wait for her to wake up. Their reflection on the situation.

There were so many little noises to be heard in that little hospital cubicle. The whir of the oxygen mask. The hustle and bustle of the medical team outside. The pacing footsteps of two highly anxious parents. But there was only one noise either of them was truly interested in: the steady beeps indicating that Emma's heart was still beating.

It had been touch and go for a little while. Emma's body had been under a lot of pressure by George's torture. She still hadn't woken up yet. Whale understood their want for answers, but he simply had none to give. He didn't know when Emma would wake up. Or, if he was being truly honest, if she would wake up. Even if she did, there was no telling what state she would be in.

Snow and Charming had hardly left the small room since Emma had arrived over a week ago. They took shifts in and out to make sure Neal was alright. He was staying at the diner with Granny and Red so he was with highly trusted babysitters should George try to pull another trick like that again.

"We would have never left them alone." Snow croaked. It wasn't the first time either she or Charming had said this since Emma was brought in. They were both riddled with unfair guilt. Neither of them were to blame, of course. George was. But as Emma and Neal's parents, they couldn't help but feel like they had failed their children. Especially Emma. "We knew we still had so many enemies in town. We gave them a free shot at both our children without being around to protect them." Snow sniffed, wiping the red skin under her eye with an already damp tissue. Charming squeezed Snow's shoulder lovingly. He had no words of comfort he could give her. He felt the same. He could hardly look at Emma, lying there helplessly on the hospital bed. He should have protected her. Emma should never have been in the position where she was having to take the hits for Neal. She shouldn't have had to take them full stop. He would do anything for his family. So seeing his baby girl lying her unconscious because of his enemy was killing him inside. Snow tucked some loose hair behind Emma's ear.

"Hold on, baby." Snow pleaded with her daughter. She leaned forward and kissed her forehead. "Mom and dad are right here. Just…hold on." Snow begged her. Charming and Snow were doing their best to hold themselves together. For both Emma and Neal's sakes. It wasn't easy though. Neither of them knew for how much longer they could continue to be strong whilst their world seemed to be crumbling around them.
